In this episode I share how I have stepped back into the world of dating and it has been daunting!! So much of our healing from relational trauma can only happen when in relationship and I am determined to have a happy and healthy romantic relationship one day so the work towards that has begun. I talk about attachment styles, IFS and its impact on relationships and love languages.

In this episode I share with you two occasions I had a good old cry last week and still after knowing it’s ok to cry and how important it is to cry there is still some desire to stop myself and feel embarrassed and apologise. As well as sharing those example o sage the science behind why a good cry is so important for our health and well-being too. I hope you enjoy and it helps someone feel less shame around crying.
In this episode I share my thoughts and feelings as I celebrate 39 years times around the sun.
In this episode I talk about why I believe the term ‘consistency is key’ is killing us woman.
Have you heard the term? Do you try to practice being consistent day to day and find for some time you are smashing it and then all of a sudden you are not?
Does that leave you feeling like you are failing? Do you end up quitting on the healthy eating, the exercise regime, the daily habits for your mindset or even your work/business?
I have had this battle with myself for years and I have discovered why I believe this is and it has changed EVERYTHING!
Consistency is key BUT… and there is a but….
Listen to this episode to hear what that ‘but’ is and how as woman we need to approach consistency, habits and disciplines differently than we currently are being told too.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this after you have listened.

In this weeks episode I share 31 things that have helped my mental health.I have been sharing a reel a day on Instagram )check them out here; https://instagram.com/happyhealthymummas?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== ) to raise awareness for mental health month.I thought I would also share them all in a podcast episode - so here they are!I’d love to hear if you have found any of these helpful for your own mental health or if I have shared something you never thought about and are now going to try. Get in touch via Instagram or comment on the Spotify episode - I would love to hear from you!
Join me this week as I talk to you directly from a spot by the river at sunrise as I share with you how the past few mornings I had been waking with a heavy chest and of being glued to the bed. I share in real time with you what clarity that morning journalling gave me around the anxiety and how it is had now left my body. To follow my 31 reels in May, sharing what has helped my mental health over the year head to my Instagram; https://instagram.com/happyhealthymummas?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
I get asked all the time 'how do you do it all?', I believe a morning routine is a huge reason! For maternal mental health week I shared the 6 things I do each morning that I believe get me in to the right mindset and energy vibe for the day. I decided to share those 6 rituals with you in real time to show how simple and time efficient it can be.You only need a quiet spot ( or some noise cancelling headphones), a pen and notebook and attempt to wake 15 minutes before your family, not always easy if you have broken sleep from kids or early risers (hello 4am). Remember there is no 'perfect' way to do this and can be done with your kids... to be honest it is a great example to be setting them. What you will be doing;Meditation - simply breathing intentionally and becoming present in the now. Breathing in through your nose for 4 seconds. hold for 4 seconds and out through your mouth for 8 seconds.Journaling - Writing the question 'how am i feeling today?'. You will allow yourself to connect with how you feel and let those feelings flow out of you onto the pages. These pages can be torn up and burnt if you don't want anyone seeing them. The important part is to get whatever you are feeling out onto paper and help makes sense of it and to honour all your feelings, because how you feel matters. The 'to do' list - I despise the word 'to do', but that is because very often we take on more things we need 'to do' than we should. This is why I love this activity. Brain dumping EVERYTHING in your head of what you keep telling ourselves you need 'to do' and getting out the head and onto paper. This will relieve a huge amount of overwhelm and you will feel some space to think clearly. Then make a list of what you feel is most important to then work through. It is very VERY common to do the things that feel good to do first and leave the less feel good tasks, which only leads to stress because the important stuff gets left until the last minute. 'Eat the frog first' as the saying goes (I think)! Once you have the list then, this is most important part, ask yourself 'why?', 'why do I need 'to do' this?'. This allows you to see how much you take on that is of no value to you, your family or your future and is not actually your sole responsibility and could be delegated to someone else.Movement - This is simple body stretch and shake off to get connected with the body and energised for the day. You can move your body in any way you wish though.Affirmations - I have selected a handful of simple affirmations to do together, you can adapt these or add to them. If you are new to affirmations this can feel weird to start with and very forced but please give it time. Affirmations are simply, positive phrases or statements that are used to challenge negative or unhelpful thoughts. MRI evidence suggests that certain neural pathways are increased when people practice affirmations. This practice can literally change your thought patterns and the way you see yourself and the world... but it takes consistent practice. If you love the research/science stuff then check out this link https://positivepsychology.com/daily-affirmations/.Gratitude - lastly but not by any means least, gratitude! Focusing on what we have in your life right now and feeling grateful for them/it can have a huge impact on your overall attitude to life. So often we are thinking ahead to what we don't have and what we want, which leaves us feeling in a state of lack, which doesn't feel good! A gratitude practice can turn that on its head! Resulting in you feeling abundant and fulfilled in the now. It does not mean you do not have dreams, desires and goals for the future, it just means you can work towards them from a place of joy and abundance.Enjoy, and once you have finished I would love to hear how this has changed your day!Come and connect with me here; https://www.instagram.com/happyhealthymummas/
Do you want to feel less stressed? With 3 bank holiday weekends and a half term in May you may be feeling the stress levels rising with as much to get done and the kids home more. That is why this week I have re launched this episode from last year. I found simply understanding stress and what it actually is eliminated some and then with the added actions it is possibly to be considerably less stressed regardless of what is going on around you.

The last two weeks I have been SO unwell with a virus and that virus has triggered some pretty flat and low feelings too and it is and has been HARD. I feel it’s important to share it ALL with you, even though most of me was saying not too. I’m only humans and we all get sick and feel down…. It’s how we come back from it and what we learn when we are down and out that is important. Right?!
With Mother’s Day, my eldest turning 10 amd my recent discovery of Matrescence it has had me reflecting A LOT on my own journey into becoming a mother and being a mother for the last 10 year. To be honest my heart break for the 28 year old me who fell pregnant and all the emotional trauma she was subjected too as well as those first few years… but it gets better and with the hard times have come so many lessons and blessings. It is a vulnerable share and my hope is that some listening will feel less alone in their struggle.

Founder of the Quantum Accelerator and The Pursuit Podcast, Shana’s experience building her own successful online coaching business has taught her that bold ACTION mixed with the right MINDSET is the path to incredible growth and RESULTS. Making a quantum leap is about taking big leaps, trusting and allowing what's next to unfold as you go. We talk through her journey of motherhood, marriage and entrepreneurship. The conversation was left open and we were led to talking about the power of our intuition. Its a powerful force that we all have and this is a great chat!
We dive deep into those feelings that we bury deep within us - especially SHAME & GUILT! Those feelings are very common with us mothers but also with those of us who have experienced abuse or trauma in our lives. So please sit back and listen. There are sooo many wise words spoken in this conversation 💛
In this episode I sit down to talk to my good friend Selina (who was the one you introduced me to a life changing opportunity). We talk motherhood, career choices, debt and new ventures. I recorded this short meditation for myself. I recently read a book called ‘dissolve the problem’ by Richard Dotts which was recommended to me by my own coach Shana Recker. I have simply read a passage from the book and recorded it for my own use and a tool for me to take 5 at any time of the day or night and to remember that problems only exists in our mind and we can in fact DISSOLVE them! I felt it selfish to not publish this and share it with you to also be able to take 5 and dissolve your problems too - whatever they may be. Enjoy 😘
I have been absent from the podcast for a while now! In this episode I share why! Life has a funny way of changing the direction we are heading in and in this episode I share an exciting new venture I have embarked on and also the tool I have used to gain clarity in what areas of my life have needed more of my attention recently and I want to share it with you. https://rebecca-barnes.mykajabi.com

This was a really impromptu recording that I felt called to share. I talk about how to deal with ending this year if the goals you set last year are still a distant hope. I share the importance of how setting a goal alone is not enough and as well as why you want to involve your kids in your goals AND get them to set their own. After the last episode on self care, I realised that true self care is near on impossible without being able to love yourself fully and it’s near on impossible to fully love yourself without being able to forgive yourself for any wrong you have caused others or yourself - because if you didn’t already know it we ALL mess up and hurt others and ourselves at times!! I also quote the incredible Noor Hibbert from her book ‘Just F*cking Do It’ and the paragraph on self care… here is a link to her book - I highly recommend!!! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Just-cking-Do-Playing-Transform/dp/147369275X
Spa days, long bubble baths, girly nights out, hours on the sofa watching Netflix? These can all be forms of self care BUT are they actually caring for you and are they serving the issue that has caused you to desperately need some time for self care? Self care should be included into our daily lives just like eating and washing…. Let’s look at some areas that could be included that maybe we wouldn’t usually label as ‘self care’…..
This week I talk about how it is inevitable that you will lose friends and/or family when you start to make positive changes in your life. I share why this is and why it’s not a bad thing.
In today’s episode I share my spiritual journey, from how I was raised and what I believed to what I believe today. This is my own personal journey and experience, and what I believe to be true to me. I ask that you listen with an open heart and please not judge. I am not attempting to preach or make anyone believe anything but I cannot share my transformation within my life without sharing my journey and what I believe is the reason for such a miraculous change in my life. Enjoy ❤️
The last few weeks have been far from happy or healthy for me. Rather than be silent and avoid sharing those times on a ‘Happy & Healthy’ podcast I decided to be transparent and share some ways I have supported myself on the road back to health and happiness.
I talk about the social interaction model founded by Stephen Karpan and how we can be sucked into 1of3 roles when interacting with others that creates drama and conflict. I have definitely played out all 3 out in the past unconsciously but with knowledge and action I am aware of this now and I share how to simply remove yourself from the triangle to avoid unnecessary drama and conflict from continuing. Links here to learn more about the research - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karpman_drama_triangle
Wow!! What a week I have had! This episode is raw and very stop/start as it was recorded in segments due to interruptions - however I felt it very important to share the importance of personal development because had I not done the work on myself over the last 6 years I don’t know how I would be coping given the current personal circumstances. My hope is that you are inspired to dive in to a PD book and get to know WHO YOU TRUELY ARE ❤️
You are where you are today because of the choices you made yesterday and for you to have a different future you are going to have to do things differently. In this weeks podcast I talk about what helped me to make changes and to start working towards a life I now love. There is also an activity at then end to help you start making changes towards a happier and healthier life from today! Enjoy 🤍
In this episode I share with you my life ‘then’ and my life now and what I believe to be the key elements to getting from there to here! TRIGGER WARNING - this episode mentions attempting suicide and the feelings attached. Please if you feel this way then contact someone to help you. Do not give up on hope for a brighter future. Here is a list of organisations that can help. Samaritans - https://www.samaritans.org call 116 123 for free or call 999! Your life IS worth living - this is just a chapter of your story and the next one can be better ❤️
In this first episode I simply share with you WHY I have started this podcast and why I feel it is my duty to share my journey with you.
