The LEAPCast is a show about life, learning, and middle school. It features the voices of some curious, thoughtful and creative Grade 7 students in the LEAP Program at Calvin Park Public School.
A novel set in middle school, Count Me In by Varsha Bajaj explores the impact of racial discrimination and the power of hashtags and social media to start a movement. Lia gives us a glimpse into this book while sharing more about how she personally connects with the book as well.
This episode of Let’s Talk Books features Nandi, who tells us more about Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley. In this novel, we are introduced to Daunis Fountaine - a biracial girl on a journey to discover herself as well as the truth.

In the middle of April, with COVID-19 cases at an all-time high, all Ontario schools moved to virtual learning. Many of us expected this shift to happen, but expecting it and experiencing it are often two very different things.
Episode 1 of The LEAPCast features the voices of some of the Grade 7 students in the LEAP program. They talk about their virtual learning experience - what their day looks like, what the best and worst parts are, and what they wish others knew about what it’s like to do school online.
