It was an exciting moment for The Prodcast and host Rich Lacey because there is a new offering from SambaSafety that he was eager to unveil. And to help reveal the latest and greatest from SambaSafety, Lacey tapped two key players from SambaSafety’s product development team, Joe Liffrig, Product Manager for Data and Analytics, and Marian Aavang, VP of Product Management. The latest solution is part of SambaSafety’s Qorta offering, introducing Qorta Insight.
“Insight, at its core, helps safety analytics professionals answer questions,” Liffrig said. “This is why organizations invest in data. To inform the decision-making and ultimately help them answer questions. How much risk do you actually have? What are your sources of risk? Where’s it concentrated? How is it trending? Insight makes it easy for users to answer those questions through a brand-new suite of dashboards, analysis tools, reporting, and a whole lot more.”
The bottom line: Insight, delivered through the Qorta platform, uses the tremendous amount of existing client data and breaks it down in a valuable way to bolster decision-making.
“This has definitely been a labor of love for the product team and SambaSafety as a whole,” Aavang said. “We had a vision for an analytics suite for quite some time now, and the biggest challenge was when we were talking to our customers was trying to figure out what it is that would be interesting for them.”
Finding the balance between what works for the niche needs and the general needs was the fun part. The result is a system that gives users more helpful information, not a whole bunch more data to have to sift through.
Like the rest of your workforce, hiring and retaining talented drivers for your company can be time-consuming and costly – but the alternative can be even more so. Business leaders understand the value of retaining their best drivers, but what’s the best way to do so?
SambaSafety’s Matt O’Shields, Product Manager, Steve Schwindt, Sr. Product Manager, and Michele Cook, Principal Product Manager, helped host Rich Lacey, Chief Product Officer kick off the first episode of The Prodcast, a technology-focused podcast. This panel of experts assembled to share insights on the many product innovations SambaSafety launched in 2020.
One of Liffrig’s product focuses this year is called Driver Activities.
“Simply put, an activity is any event that impacts a driver’s safety,” Liffrig said. “All the activity we recorded was generated from monitoring systems. What we are debuting with this feature is the ability for Qorta users to add activity from sources in addition to those monitoring systems.”
Activity is a new feature in Q Enterprise, a simple add on for any Qorta customer.
O’Shields’ focus is on another feature related to Driver Activities called Activity Alerts. This product came about due to customer requests for a workflow tool to help them review new activity.
“Alerts is designed with that in mind,” O’Shields said. “Think of alerts as the inbox for all of your most important mobility risk information updates about your drivers.” O’Shields said the customer feedback is overwhelmingly positive since launching the product a few months ago.
The Alert framework used in Activity Alerts extends to CSA-specific functionality.
“Inspection Management is all about helping our customers and ensuring that regulated motor carriers properly process roadside inspection activity,” Schwindt said. “It’s very workflow-based, and we felt it would fit perfectly within this alerts framework and be able to leverage all of those great features and functions from Activity Alerts.”
On the insurance carrier side of SambaSafety, Cook updated the panel on the exciting things happening with the Volta platform.
“Our new Volta quote features are all about ensuring consumers receive that streamlined and accurate insurance shopping experience every time they shop or purchase a policy,” Cook said. “And that also requires that the carrier is pricing correctly for that risk while they’re doing this.”
