Today we discuss the California Gas Tax hikes and why I hate them. We will cover the following: We debunk the myth that we have to raise taxes in order to improve the roads and infrastructure. We discuss what percentage of money is currently being spent on infrastructure and how much is being spent elsewhere. Today we are going to talk about California Tax hikes on Gas and car registration and why I hate them. We will also hammer the California politicians for being hypocrites and going against progressive principles and implementing taxes that disproportionately affect the poor more than the rich. One of the reasons I always hear people say they are voting for one party vs the other is because they see the views of the opposite party as being wrong or even evil. There has been a lot of griping in the news lately around the Trump Budget cuts and what many see as draconian cuts on agencies like the EPA, State Department and Department of Labor. And while I agree that the cuts are significant, they don’t go nearly far enough. Quite simply put this country has been living stupidly and we need to cut every single department. Most of my friends on the left like to talk about how much money we spend on the military and we do spend an awful lot (That needs cutting too by the way). Today we are discussing the Russian Tampering in the US Elections. Instead of focusing on whether or not the hacking happened (I think it did) or if it was the driving force in the election (I think it wasn’t). We focus on some less common themes that i think are just as, if not more important than the daily discussion we see on the news. If you have been paying attention to the news at all you know that there has been quite the scandal surrounding the Russians “Hacking” or at least trying to influence the 2016 election. This rant doesn’t focus on if the hacks happened or even if they actually won Donald Trump the election. Instead the focus is on two lesser themes that I think are every bit as important. First we discuss the hypocrisy the Republicans are showing by trying to minimize what happened in an effort to defend the election’s results. I don’t think anyone is shocked at Politicians being hypocritical but it’s ironic that the Republicans of all parties are minimizing a Russian government interfering in an election. Imagine
It’s much easier to take a position of being for or against an issue on a controversial subject than it is to try to offer a solution to said problem. On this third and final installment of my immigration rants, I try to tackle the 800lb Gorilla and discuss what I would do with the approximately 11.4 million illegal Aliens who are here in in the United States already. As many of you know from my last Immigration rant, I’m very much for controlling the border but I’m also skeptical about The Wall being the best vehicle to do so. This is the second installment in my rants about immigration. We already discussed my views on The Wall, so today’s topic is why controlling the US border is NOT an anti-immigration position. The main stream media loves to portray this issue and black and white with only two real positions that can be taken. You are either for immigration, including illegal immigration, or you are against all immigration and, by the law of transference, do not believe in the fundamentals of what made America. This obvious straw man is designed to demonize people who are for controlling the border and illegal immigration. Today I will cover why don’t think building the wall is a good idea but it’s not for the reasons that you may think. The U.S. already has a border wall or at least a border fence throughout most of our southern border and I think that building a bigger badder wall isn’t going to stem the flow of illegal immigration unless we focus more on the incentives that drive them to come to this country. We cover what those incentives are and why if we don’t address them building a wall won’t make a significant dent on what it’s trying to achieve.
Today we are going to tackle the controversial issue of requiring voter ID. Now there was a time when arbitrary impediments were placed on voting in order to exclude minorities. But trying to argue that requiring voter ID in today’s day and age is frankly a little silly. And when you consider the dangers we have seen with election hacking, it should be seen as a weakness that can easily be exploited by our rivals to influence elections.
