Walk And Winds

  • Sometimes disasters strike in the life of a faithful follower of Jesus Christ from all corners.The destruction the disaster causes is immense. It is difficult to measure the loss of lives and life stocks. We all like to be safe and healthy in our family.
  • Righteous don’t like to suffer sometimes without godly purposes or reasons for which they think and believe they are not responsible.

  • The quality life of Job:

  • His Property: 7,000 Sheep, 3,000 Camels, 1,000 Oxen (500 pairs), 500 Asses. These could amount to millions dollars or Indian Rupees. But he lost most of it. (He recovered double of all that: 14,000,6,000,2,000,1,000! Job.42:10)

  • His Personal Life’s 4 Characteristics: (1:1)

    • Perfect: Heb: TAM. 1:1,8,2:3,8:20, Plain, upright, undefiled.
    • Upright: Heb: YASHAR. Righteous, Straight, Balanced.
    • Feared God: Heb: YARE. To Revere, deep respect for God,
    • Eschewed Evil: Heb: SUR. To Shun away from sin, withdraw or be against sin and evil, depart from evil.

  • Job had a very great household: (1:3)

  • Job was a greatest of all the men of the east. (1:3)
  • Job was a ideal father for his children. He used to rise up early and offered burnt offerings to God on behalf of his children so that they could be protected from the wrath of God and be blessed. (But it turned out to be a disaster suddenly)
  • Job was a very healthy and wealthy man. (But he was smote with an infection to the whole body with sore boils)

  • Job was honestly had difficulty in knowing WHY of his suffering. What went on in heaven with Satan, he didn’t know. It was mystery.

  • Parents never think of seeing their children die suddenly in an accident.

    • Wind destroyed the house by striking the four corners of the house and it collapsed over them killing Job’s Children.(Jb.1:18-19)
    • Their joyful partying turned into death. Winds blew over them only to kill them.
  • Fathers and Husbands don’t like to suffer for reason beyond his comprehension.
    • Job could not accept the reasons but remained faithful with God in whom he believed.
    • On top of all that immense pain and loss, he lost his health with infection of a disease. The Dogs became his companions to giving him some solace by licking his boils eventually.
  • Wives don’t like husbands get nervous breakdown by thinking husbands to be the reason for the loss of property and children.
    • The wife of Job murmured (2:9): Do you still retain your integrity? Curse God and die!
  • Job had lost the corners of comfort from all sides.
    • He had to sit down in ashes only to express his grief and pain of the Physical and Emotional inflictions.
  • The friends of Job come from distant locations after hearing his tragedies.
    • Job seems to be well-known in the word he lived.
  • Life of a Righteous man was at stake. None had a clue of WHY all that disaster hit!

Summary: Job’s sorrowful experience has become a model lesson for those who believe in God and the Savior Lord Jesus Christ. We know these will end. No Wind could shake faith of Job in God even after such a great loss. Trust God who restores and rewards the faithful. God is the Restorer God.

Walk And Winds

· Wind which brought Birds food for the Israelites on their journey to Promised Land.

· The birds were called quails. (Nb.11:31)

· The estimated number required for the people to eat quails could be around: 20,160,000,000 quails for about 3 million adults. If the cost could be estimated then it should be around @$:1:00 each then the cost comes around 20 Billion Dollars. (2016 Crore Dollars X INRs. 75=151200,000,000:- Fifteen thousand one hundred twenty Million) God fed them because they wanted flesh to eat. (Dakes Bible/p.327)

Kibroth-hattaavah: A place of graves where lustful were killed and buried

The Bible says: Num 11:16-23: And the LORD said unto Moses: “And say thou unto the

people, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.

· Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days; But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?

· And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and you have said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month. Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them? And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD's hand waxed short? You shall see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not."

Num 11:31-35: And there went forth a wind from the LORD:

· “And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day's journey on this side, and as it were a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.

· And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.

· And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.

· And he called the name of that place Kibroth-hattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted. And the people journeyed from Kibroth-hattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth." They left behind a painful memory!

We Learn that:

a) The wind of God brought flesh they liked to eat.

b) God was providing Manna from heavenly stores.

c) The Earthly Material desire turned into a deadly lust which killed all those who lusted after. The Wind of God provided what people demanded but it was a rebellion.

d) The Wind of God also gives Eternal life to mankind. Jesus: Man shall not live by bread alone.(Dt.8:3-4) A natural NEED of food turned into A LIFE SUCKING GREED! Make choices wisely. God is The Jehovah Provider-YHWH Jireh! But He is also YHWH Tsidkenu-The Just God!

Our walk is a movement taking steps towards a desired destination.

  • The Walk of a Follower of the Lord Jesus Christ leads to an assured destination called the Eternal Life in the Kingdom of God.
  • The Bibles teaches quite a bit about the WALK of a follower of Jesus Christ.
  • There are some examples of the Old Testament patriarchs who walked with God.
  • Some times during our walk we face many hurdles and problems.
  • The Christian life is compared with a journey and walk, sometimes, on surface of the earth, sometimes on a sea and river, sometimes on a mountain top and sometimes on a battle field.
  • The WIND is an element which God has created in the atmosphere of the earth.
  • It is a necessary element for survival of the creation.
  • But sometimes, winds are naturally out of control of the mankind.
  • Wind is good if it is favorable. But if takes the shape of strong currents and flows without control, it creates disasters also.
  • Only God could calm the strong stormy winds. Mankind has never been able to control it with its supreme technological advance today.

In the Episodes, we will see what the Bible and our experience teaches us as we journey in the life God has given us. There are several references about winds that led to fulfill the purposes of God. Sometimes, the wind is real and at times it is used as an allegorical phrase.

The Bible also talks about 4 winds which exist today. They are Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern winds. These are also called as 4 winds of the earth. It is good to understand this concept not only Biblically but also Culturally and Mythologically. It is because most of the Cultures have some kind of divinity ascribed to wind. These wind Mythologies and experiences both help us understand some interesting facts about their use in their contexts.

The 1-7 Episodes would be based on the following concepts:

  1. Wind parted the sea under Moses. Wind helped Moses to bring out 5 to 6 Million Israelites out of Egypt through the floor of the sea on the other shore. The people walked through the parted walls of water on dry sea bed. Ex.14:21.
  2. Wind which brought Birds food for the Israelites on their journey to Promised Land.

  1. Wind which killed Job’s Children by striking the four corners of the house only to collapse on them. Jb.1:18-19
  2. Wind which created a violent storm threatening to break the ship in which Jonah wanted to escape (Jon.1:4) after throwing him over board, and the sea grew calm.
  3. Wind which almost drown boat of the disciples of Jesus.(Mt.8:23-27) They shouted, “Lord, save us! We are going to drown.”
  4. Wind which caused shipwreck Paul was traveling. Ac.27:4-28:13 Paul warned not to begin but “the centurion, instead of listening to what Paul had said..Followed advice of the pilot and of the owner of the ship… The ship struck, bow stuck, stern broke.
  5. Wind which troubles the church regarding Apostolic teachings. Eph.4:14,Jas.1:6
