Distractions and false Teaching are EVERYWHERE today and the enemy would love for you to stay dialed into THAT. Because it seems close to what you know. You admit you don't know the bible cover to cover but you know some key verses and you are working to understand more. The problem is that the longer we don't know the bible and God's truth that is the only one the more we make versions of it, are swayed towards conterfeit ones from christians that we follow and are influenced by, pretty soon our larger influence of non believers and the worldview seep in and download THEIR truth. Do you know the difference? Do you have the foundation needed and the awareness to stand firm in Christ. That is what we will discuss today!

A quick burst of wisdom for how to cultivate great relationships because making friends as an adult can feel weird.
These are my personal thoughts and feelings toward this topic of understanding and reflecting on something that my husband and I do so often and have made it a point to exert the extra energy. I believe its something that most will not do and then wonder why people dont support what they put out into the world and could be the reason why the world feels more lonely than ever.
Click in to listen to the strategies and thought behind this concept. Hope you enjoy this quick bite!

We are Back! Phew- it took a while to get here but we are back in action. I am excited to kick off this summer series for the next 4 weeks and have some great themes and wisdom to share that God dropped in my brain the past couple months. This has been prayed over and confirmed so many times. You will hear from some special guests as well as some solo offerings.

The premise? Relationships/dating and Marriage more specifically are not focused on the right things most of the time. What do we do to attract the right person with the qualities that matter, the character gifts that matter. We are doing it all wrong watching the culture and there is ONE truth. its God's solution and it's always been here but we have been made to believe its old news and we don't need it. Let's dive in and grow through what we go through.

Just a little mid week pump up of belief so that you get the confirmation you need to keep PRESSING IN! - Keep embracing the uncomfortable of the current or upcoming season you are in. I know I needed it. There is a time for everything and when God is birthing something NEW in you it can be downright uncomfortable. We are likely to walk through some fear and insecurity as he calls us out to newness and we have to LET GO of the familiar - even when its disorienting, knowing that he equips us when we are tired, feel alone, confused, scared or desperate. He knows exactly what we need and exactly what he is doing. The journey will change and grow us into the people he wants us to become if we allow it- he will never leave us or forsake us- REMEMBER THAT.

"See I am doing a NEW thing"- Isaiah 43:19 he is making a way in the wildnerness.
I feel God calling upp believers to be bold. its time to GO- time to move- seek him because what more confirmation or direction do you need that the world cannot give!

Make it a great rest of the week and fabulous holiday!

Meet Liz Henderson:

Wife, Mama, Consistency Coach, Podcast Host, Postpartum Weight Loss Expert, and a #toughlove and Mindset Enthusiast

"I’m the kind of mom who gains a lot of weight during pregnancy, but with simple consistency & the right habits, I lost 80 lbs after my first pregnancy and 70 lbs after my second.

The weight loss is great, but the best results are the confidence, the growth, & seeing your efforts positively impact your kids.

I live for the moment a mom realizes she is so much more capable than she realizes.

Nothing lights a fire under my butt quite like seeing a fellow mama realize how capable she is in taking control of her health, her mindset, and her life. Especially when she realizes it’s done in the seemingly insignificant choices over and over and over.

When living a healthy lifestyle and doing really hard things with confidence simply becomes “who you are” and no longer feels like something you’ll forever strive for and never reach, I’ve done my job. "

In this episode we talk about the importance of mindset and how it is the foundation for everything! Enneagram and personal growth, battling self doubt and insecurities when it comes to what you are capable of and how to make a choice that serves the FUTURE you- BEST. Its a self discovery deep dive conversation with tactical tools to change your language and focus on progress for more long term results. We hope you love it!

How's this for wisdom wednesday?!
This week we are focusing on 3 key questions to ask yourself and journal and how to make the DECISION to stop playing it safe- scared - small! Its not sexy on you girl and we gotta change it.

  1. What does living up to your full potential mean to you?

  2. What are you capable of achieving? - DON'T you dare shrink it .. have the courage to speak it out loud and write it down.

  3. What is the main thing/ story/ excuse that is stopping you from doing the thing(s) you have said you are capable of?

I believe that when you invest the time in this simple practice and truly make the decision to get into action... it silences the self worth issues that bubble up- that fear that bubbles up.

YOU DESERVE TO BE LIVING YOUR DREAM. YOU WERE MEANT FOR MORE. GET AFTER IT!

Have a great week friends!

We are kicking off our Courage Queen on Fire Series, kinda like hot girl summer but even better lol These women are incredible inside and out and they are on FIRE for the Lord, sharing their stories of building confidence, faith and living in excellence in work as they pave the way in our communities! All summer long every other week you will hear their personal success stories of how they are winning because they are letting God lead. I promise it will be a series to remember full of golden nuggets and redefining what it means to find "success" Gods way and truly live a life that honors him!

From Tiffany:

"You're Ambitious, You have big goals . You want the most out of life. You know deep down that you were made for more. But the negative beliefs are crippling. The imposter syndrome surrounds you with doubt. The fear of judgement keeps you stuck. The thought of failing holds you back. One minute you're on fire and ready to rock the world and the next you're questioning if you can do this and if you have what it takes.I spent years on that mindset rollercoaster. I was hustling so hard in my business but had nothing to show for it.

But then I shifted one simple thing & my business blew up, hitting the top of the company in less than a year...my confidence. I ditched the grind for grace & built a multiple 6-figure business by staying aligned with my highest self, focused on the things that bring me joy and connected to my soul goals. I'm on a mission to help women do the same because can you imagine a world where women are audacious about their ambition and shine bright unapologetically!? "

Effective communication is an essential life skill. Communication is so powerful it can change the course of any relationship. Do you have a relationship that has gone off course? Have you experienced unhealthy communication in relationships that caused more hurt than help?
I would argue that communication is the vehicle that can get it back on track and being confident in how you communicate effectively in love while also being direct proves that you are invested in your relationships and want to take personal responsibility to see it improve.

These tactical and tangible tips light me up and I want to share with you what I have learned through trial, mistakes and relationship "winning" moments.

This week we take a deep dive into trauma, suffering, and how to have hope in a world where we are experiencing so much brokenness. I had my long term friend Joe on to podcast to unpack his personal experiences transparently with us and how he took steps to healing in his own life.

A little about Joe:
Joe's greatest passion is to equip people with the skills and tools necessary for their success, that is, for them to find a sense of meaning and purpose in their lives.  He is driven by a deep empathy for others, his Faith, and a lot of laughter and sarcasm.

Truthfully this episode is for me this week. After multiple setbacks my goals seem so far away. Ever feel like the more you try to make something happen, the more resistance you get? You feel like you are getting knocked down with one event after the other and you are tempted to quit...
All the self sabotaging thoughts of your failures, past mistakes, or any memories of how you DID NOT finish the goal before flood in.. even if the goal you are working towards you have already achieved once...
Isnt it crazy how the enemy knows all your weaknesses and can get you so tied up, confused, questioning everything and then on the other end of it GOD- can get you so UNSTUCK because he always gives you a way out.

This episode is for all the people that are tempted to quit, throw in the towel or have ever quit something in the past and you are often tortured and reminded about your past failures... IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY!
Lets dig into truth and scripture about what GOD has to say about suffering and why its NECESSARY in our growth journey.
I truly think it will be a transformative work in all of us!

Hope it is for you..
PS: Dont you DARE give up! I believe in YOU

What does it mean to be authentic? The world would love us to get obsessed with thinking being authentic is speaking our truth and just being real but in truth, God tells us very clearly that Authenticity if filled and fulfilled only through him. We chase and chase for what makes us feel most authentic but we come up empty, because the world is wired to conform and it takes courage to do it Gods way.

Lets dive in past all the trendy authentic #goals we find online that are not sustainable or true.Authenticity is transparency and admission of failure. It's the rejection of pretense and hypocrisy. It's truth-telling about all areas of life. So start with God- spill out all your truth to him first and humble yourself so he can USE you. He is bigger than any of your inadequacies believe me...

Our Guest this week is Krisdee Clark who shares her testimony walking through breast cancer and turning her pain into purpose to help women that would walk through cancer to have her best blueprint for handling it with grace and grit.

Krisdee Clark lives on Lake Murray in sunny South Carolina with her husband LTC. Joshua Clark and her 2 children, Belle and Knox and her 3 bonus sons! She is the Director of Corporate Affairs for Agape Care Group, the largest hospice and palliative care group in South Carolina and now Georgia. Krisdee's strong faith has gotten her through many storms throughout her life but little did she know during one of the happiest times in 2019 she would go through her toughest storm to date. In 2019 one month after she married her husband Josh, he was deployed to the Middle East for 9 months. The very next month in February 2020, Covid 19 began to become a national pandemic and as the world was shutting down, Krisdee had a routine Mammogram and a biopsy on a small lump she found in the shower. Three days later she would hear the words she never thought she would hear especially at 41 years old- “You have breast cancer.”

Krisdee’ s story is one of survival, faith and grace. Listening to the Lord after her initial visit to the surgical oncologist she knew that God was leading her elsewhere for this journey and out of her comfort zone of South Carolina. A little bit of research and a quick call to a Mentor rep with Johnson and Johnson got her to Graper Harper Cosmetic Surgery in Charlotte, North Carolina for a consultation with Dr. Garrett Harper and then to Dr. Peter Turk at Novant Health. These 2 amazing surgeons were instrumental in her journey. Choosing a bilateral mastectomy, learning the cancer was in 2 lymph nodes, 4 rounds of chemotherapy, 25 rounds of radiation, an oophorectomy and finally reconstructive surgery a year later Krisdee uses her platform to advocate for women everywhere. With 1 in 8 women diagnosed each year with breast cancer we simply do not have enough stories of thriving after breast cancer and what that looks and feels like. Krisdee started The Blog, The Blonde Bombshell to help women everywhere know that they are not alone.

Krisdee was recently selected as Mrs. Capital City America 2022 and will compete for the Mrs. South Carolina crown June 25, 2022. “To be able to share my platform and represent the beautiful women of South Carolina on a state level and hopefully with God's help on a National stage this is simply a dream come true.” I feel like Queen Esther in verse 4:14 “Perhaps I was created for such a time as this. Queen Esther is a wonderful and powerful female role model to look up to and I am grateful to bring a little bit of her with me on my journey.”

Hi friends! Our guest this week is Tara Allmendinger. Press play and be prepared for a radical shift of how to move from "want" to "do" - taking imperfect action like we talk about. We also dive deep into faith based wisdom and personal experiences that led Tara to see how God connected the dots in her life. More on Tara...

Tara hasn’t always looked and felt the way she appears today. Years of stomach pain, depression, fatigue, brain fog, skin issues, anxiety, etc. kept her from living her best life. It took major lifestyle changes, doing her own research, and ultimately trusting her guts. She says years of struggling with food and environmental allergies shaped her lifestyle. By embracing the process of personal development, Tara has been able to find the light and fight within herself; a path to peace in my mind, body, and soul.
Sharing her struggles and tools to overcome obstacles with others has inspired her to show up in a variety of ways. She says “It has become a superpower for me to help others heal and bridge the gap between want and do.” Tara thinks of herself as a Wellness Warrior. Using her own wellness journey, she inspires personal victories and self-fulfillment. “Flip the script from a victim to a victor and embrace the Spirit of Victory!”

Tara is a Wellness Warrior. She is married to her husband AJ and lives northwest of Charlotte in Denver, NC. She recently competed in her first bikini fitness competition and is the current reigning Mrs. North Carolina America. This is a huge accomplishment because it represents overcoming major gut issues and allergies that once controlled her life. Today, she is the most joyful and well version of herself. One of her favorite things to do is share her road to wellness with others. She is excited to wake up each day with the drive and the tools to inspire others to feel well in mind, body, and soul. She is living proof that self-care, faith, positive affirmations, and not being afraid of failure will lead to growth and happier life.

Do you wish there was a way to truly embrace who you are and show up as your most authentic self? Do you fear that if you showed the world who you really were you wouldn’t be loved and accepted? What if instead you chose to unapologetically live your life FULL OUT with level 10 confidence, fearing LESS about fitting in because let's face it, we were never suppose to!

I know what it feels like to beat yourself up about not being where you thought you would be at this point in your life. You feel frozen in fear and frustration as you realized you aren’t living out your full potential. You have big dreams and excitement for the future, but you are hoping you can “get it together” so this year won’t be a repeat of the last. Friend, the confidence you’re missing is bigger than just your business, its spilling over into every area of life. Too many women are having a crisis of confidence and lacking clarity in their identity that keeps them playing SMALL.

Imagine If you could start trusting God with all the worries that you go to sleep with at night. Imagine becoming a catalyst to transform the world around you through your character and courage. Imagine you approach your day feeling focused and free confidently knowing that each step you take is intentional. You’re not just here, but here for a purpose.

Thats why I created Confidence + Courage Coaching so you can own your story, develop your God given Gifts and Level up your confidence. Through my 5 step coaching system you will uncover why you haven’t been living in your level 10 confidence. As you grow your faith roots deeper with my confidence devotional/journal prompts you will be able to boldly serve in your God given abilities, and give others permission to do the same.

It’s time to stop standing on the sidelines watching everyone else live their dream life. It’s time to step into your dreams with faith filled peace and confidence. It’s time to simply fear Less.

So if you’re ready to live life full out and start strengthening that courage muscle, email me the word "CONFIDENCE" at COURAGEQUEENPOD@gmail.com

Welcome Courage Queen's!

This week we are on a mission to radically redefine self love, self care, self esteem and boundaries. A balanced and fulfilled life is POSSIBLE- BUT there are things we MUST do in order to claim that type of living. Stop neglecting your physical, emotional, spiritual wellness and get on track because burnout isn't cute! Our guest this week is Coach Ama Brew, this is what she has to share with us and SOO much more.

From Ama:
"I know how it feels to be trying so hard to keep up on the outside but struggling with an intense inner turmoil on the inside. It’s hard to admit that you don’t have it all together when you think that being a Superwoman is what makes you worthy and empowered as a woman.

As a teenager, I was a “big” kid with a loud mouth who never felt good enough. After high school, I had a personal encounter with God and knew from that moment on that my purpose was to empower women to maximize their potential and live purposeful lives.

I went on to publish my first book at the age of 17 to share my experiences & to help empower teenage girls who also struggled with self-esteem.

I obtained my B.A. in Psychology and my Masters in Organizational Leadership & Human Resources Management.

All through my corporate career, I often coached the women who were struggling to find balance & purpose. But everything stopped when I had kids. I lost myself completely for years & was headed for complete burnout. This was because in my bid to be a virtuous woman, I neglected my emotional, spiritual, physical & psychological wellness.

I kept thinking I should be happy – I have everything I have always wanted – a husband, kids, educational degrees – but I wasn’t fulfilled because I always felt overwhelmed, tired, stressed, burnt-out and out of balance.I found my way back to a more balanced, fulfilled, productive & purposeful life and I’m now on a mission to help other struggling women do the same."

Hey Friends! Trigger Warning. Getting super vulnerable this week as I reflect on 2 years of breaking the silence in my life. I have grown so much and I feel passionately called to share with you transparently so that maybe just maybe you will dig into the Courage and faith available to you to persevere and ALSO get to the other side. I share how you Validate your trauma and start your healing process. These are my personal experiences and reccommendations only, so know that until you choose you want to heal and take active steps can you expect to get to the other side. I am confident that if you get quite and dig into God that he can be your supernatural physician, leading you to the tools and resources that work hand in hand with healing the inner most parts of you that feel broken. I love the analogy that God takes the "broken peices" of our story and glues them back to be raw, real, authentic and beautiful in their own way. I know you can do hard things. Our guest this week is Melissa Rohlfs, a certified holistic health and life coach helping
busy women break free from sugar and stress/emotional eating so
they can be calm, confident and in control. Around food. Around
sugar. In stressful situations. In their bodies. In their life. She is
committed to empowering women to break free from dieting,
emotional eating and self-image issues so they can ditch the diet
mentality, and feel empowered in their own skin.
After her own tumultuous history with food {withholding and
then later in life, bingeing}, she learned how to deal with the core
issues around her broken relationship with food. As a result, she
felt called to go to school and learn to teach other women how to
do the same. She graduated from the Health Coach Institute as a

Simple quick episode on jealousy. We tend to look at it and stew in the negativity and wasting of our energy. The more we focus on what we lack rather than what we COULD create- the more inadequate we feel. Let Jealousy teach you what unmet desire you have within you and let it inspire you to make daily steps towards your goals.

It seems like most of our young adult lives we are navigating who we are and there is so much power in our words and others words that label us in a time of discovery . Are you an introvert? extrovert? too loud? too much? you will never do that? Your too... (fill in the blank). Turns out that when we listen and digest these labels we lean into them and they really affect our adult lives as well. Lets unpack it in a spontaneous mini conversation with my friend Sasha Robertson.

It is the quote I go back to often as I unpack my life experiences and become a detective for better growth minded practices and thoughts that serve me in every area of life.

I reference some great insight from psychology today that relates to how our beliefs and thoughts take root and how they manifest into our reality. If you are a psychology nerd like me- you may get into it!

We all have our stuff. Addictions are mostly hidden but some not so hidden. Here the raw and honest conversation from someone who doesn't take herself too seriously and keeps you laughing while sharing her self depricating humor that makes her a must hear from. Dana is doing incredible things that came from her surrendering her addiction with alcohol back in 2014.
From Dana:
"Friends, I have been sober since 2014. And if you count Covid 2020, that’s fourteen majillion years.

I have a husband, two boys, two cats, and two dogs. I like to keep things even. But that would mean I would need two husbands and my stars that is too many.

One kid. One cat. The rest are milling about somewhere.

Although maybe a second husband who just deals in installing Christmas lights? I could deal. He would show up once a year, scurry out of his home like a weird second husband elf, and help me with Christmas lights because GOD KNOWS THE FIRST HUSBAND NEVER DOES.

Also, I am a writer and speaker because when I got sober this post went kinda viral and then I took my show on the road, so to speak. It’s a good road.

As I write this, one dog is sitting on my feet. I am blessed. Truly."

This weeks episode is short and sweet. Lets narrow in on 5 habits you gotta break in order to have more peace, fulfillment and happiness.
A life filled with toxicity is not created by bad luck or circumstance- its created by a cycle of bad happens and  a negative mindset.

My chosen 5 habits to break for this episode:

1.Being to scared to try something new/ letting fear guide every decision you make
2. Complaining excessively- please dude stop
3. Unhealthy Routines Practices
4. Crave for approval and validation
5. Blaming others

Which one do you need to break first?

We are deep diving into the inner brain work that can be done to embrace uncertainty and manage/reduce anxious feelings. In this solo episode, I break down some amazing tips from Dr. Caroline Leaf when it comes to managing anxiety that the listener can dive into deeper in her book "Cleaning up your Mental Mess". I also share my personal experiences with anxiety and how it is a warning signal, what keeps us trapped in anxious thoughts and mindset and learning to self regulate. As always, I am not a licensed therapist and simply share my personal experiences, tangible tips that may work for you. I am not suggesting that anxiety can go away completely and moreover suggesting that if Anxiety impacts your daily life in an inability to function in your day to day, please seek advice and tools from a medical professional. An episode for anyone who made plans and they aren't panning out how you thought they would. We’ve all had those moments where we realized in a moment we are not where we thought we would be. It's hard to believe today would be the “someday” I looked forward to those years ago when I was planning out my life. But, maybe God has better than you imagined, maybe he is preparing you.

Could it be that we are trained to plan our somedays in a particular and specific way that fits society’s view and we are setting ourselves up for defeat long before someday becomes our present moment?

In this very transparent episode, imagine yourself in those moments and here is my strategy for how to push through with hope and tangible steps you can put into action today.

You are exactly where you are suppose to be- flow into it.

Enough with the fluff. The average person thinks, getting where I want to go is solely dependent on FEELING motivated. They think, I have to be in the mood and be ready. Ready is a lie. Waiting to feel motivated never help anyone and neither does a bunch of positive quotes. Motivation is good for 15 minutes but discipline is good for the long haul.

In this episode we keep it REAL, talking about how you feel is irrelevant to getting the job done. We talk science and how the neocortex level of the brain works in terms of motivation vs. discipline.

Discipline gives you more freedom in life, its built on habits, starting small you teach the brain to cope with your childlike emotions in the limbic system. Motivation just purely inspires us to make the change.

We are motivated two ways:
1.intrinsic -engaging because we find it personally rewarding, it hits our values, you are more invested in the process rather than the reward itself. (enjoying a challenge, how your workout makes you feel, healthy meals because you enjoy cooking them).

  1. extrinsic (from the outside), -we are motivated to earn a reward or to avoid punishment (bonus at work, not gettin reprimanded at work, monetary bonus, looking better in our clothes etc. )

It takes 66 days on average to form a new automatic habit.

How do you discipline yourself?

A decision to course correct. That you care about it enough that nothing will get in the way. Figuring out how much sleep you need and how much time you need in the am to have a good day

The snooze button should be called the dream killer. So get out of bed. You know what’s going to make your life better and what’s going to make your life worse. If you wrote down the things you know you should do tomorrow and every day you knew what you were suppose to do— then did it for another 3 days- 3 months, 3 years every day- your life becomes better.

JOCKO WILLINK- retired navy seal commander, new york times best seller extreme ownership: how navy seals lead and win, discipline equals freedom says that "people take the easy path of comfort, the path to misery is a comfortable path, its a path where you can waste time and money and you are a slave, you have no freedom there. you are a slave to your health, your finances, etc . "

Commitment to that has to outweigh temptation. Lean into anything that you feel that way about knowing that it will grow you and take you to where you want to be. You have to make the switch and listen to the one that says you could keep going- its not easy in the moment and discipline gets activated.

Motivation is” hey im feeling great im gonna go do this workout or knock out this project.” - tomorrow you won’t be motivated so now what do you do.

Tangible tips shared on how to put systems in place so that you follow through and build steps of discipline into your life.

When you have a problem or issue that is negative, or something bad happens you say— GOOD, here is a chance to improve myself and here is what i am going to do- its reframing it. Im gonna address it and get it solved or figure out how to make it never happen again. It tries to drag you down? relish those opportunities and get after it.

Ready is a lie. You don't need more information, more degrees, certainly not more excuses. This may just be the most encouraging slap in the face of truth you needed lol.

I began as a relationship disaster. For years, I struggled to understand who I was and why I repeatedly made decisions that created years of sadness and the loss of relationships that mattered deeply to me. My feelings of frustration, anger, and blame were overwhelming. I blamed my spouse, my job, and my brother’s death for all of my problems. I spent years with 4 different therapists spilling my guts and praying that they could fix me. Nothing seemed to make the inner pain go away. Finally, after years of inner turmoil, I gave up and filed for a divorce. When I started dating again, I hoped for a fresh start. What I found were the same frustrations and stuck patterns. On the verge of another failed relationship, I made a decision: I was going to take a good look in the mirror because the common denominator in my relationship disasters was me.

As a business person with an MBA and an engineer, I believed in education, I believed in problem-solving. If I could just find the right formulas, plug in the right resources, tap the best experts, I could find a way through to the harmony, balance, and self-acceptance I was craving—a way to show up as my best and highest self, so I could more authentically love the people in my life.I began a journey of self-discovery that led me to uncover my blind spots, free my limiting beliefs, restore my sense of peace and worthiness, and abolish the anger that had plagued me for so long. So I dove in. Personal Leadership programs. Self-help books you name it I did it. I tried everything; I became my own guinea pig, keeping what was effective, what resonated and felt good, throwing away the rest. And I noticed something amazing.
Something was missing: My anger and depression. The part of me that had been a constant companion, sabotaging my connection and keeping me from relationship success—had faded. Gone. I’d developed a growth mindset, and learned to guard that mindset diligently. Positive feelings replaced the angry outbursts, frustration, and gloom. Acceptance became a new normal, as I let go of and forgave my past and began to live my life again. A life of purpose, direction, and happiness. And with that: Love and Inner Peace!I watched my relationship with Larry slowly transform before my eyes. My partner seemed so different—attentive, patient, loving, passionate, and kind. We got married a few years later and we now share a marriage full of appreciation. One where respect rules, playfulness permeates and fights are pretty much non-existent. But I didn’t change him. What had changed—completely, permanently, profoundly—was me.That was the birth of my Inner Mastery system—a hard-won, tried and true strategy full of impactful lessons, actionable strategies, tactics, and tools that allow you to transform your relationship by working on the one thing you can control: You.

As a Dating and Relationship coach, I’ve been helping clients find their way to resilience and inner peace for 4 years with 90% positive results. My program isn’t for everyone, and I’m honest about this. Not everyone is ready to dive in and commit to 8-12 weeks of daily work and introspection. Some of the lessons challenge our identity and deeply held beliefs. I work with leaders like me: smart, motivated, and educated people who are frustrated and bewildered that somehow our lives have led us down a road to relationships that are so much less than we hoped and dreamed they would be. I can help you not just recapture the relationship you desire. I can help you recapture you. Danyell-

Communication -How to speak your partner or friends LOVE LANGUAGES
By Gary Chapman "The 5 Love languages" is a book and assessment you can take and its a game changer for unlocking better love and communication in your relationships:
Check it out here: https://www.5lovelanguages.com/quizzes/

Words of Affirmation- encourage, affirm, appreciate, listen actively — actions you can take: send an unexpected note, card or text

Physical Touch- non verbal use of body language and touch to show love—actions you can take: hugs, kissing, cuddling — i think you know where im going with that lol ,

Receiving Gifts-thoughtfulness make your spouse a priority— actions you can take: give thoughtful gifts and gestures, express gratitude when receiving gifts.

Quality Time- uninterrupted and focused conversations, one on one time is important— actions you can take: create special moments and take walks, small things you can do.

Acts of service- let them know you are wanting to help lighten their load— make them breakfast or dinner, go out of your way to do a chore etc,

Ask yourself what you are doing while having the conversation: What words were you using? What tone of voice did you use? How you were acting? What did your body language.

Listening with empathy involves focusing on what’s going on with your partner. Set your own questions, advice, criticism aside.

What are your triggers ? what are your fears? What are good vs. bad times …. have you eaten? are you tired? stressed at work?

Dr. Phil says that People argue/ talk about the topic not the issue. When you look at the titanic it hits the ice berg is was what was UNDER the water that really mattered and what wrecked the ship.

2 important stats by John Gottman are 5 to 1 and 9 out of 10. He separates couples into what he calls the “masters” and the “disasters.”

5:1 Healthy couples have a 5:1 ratio of compliments compared to negative comments. For every complaint, there are five positive interactions between a couple–

9/10 Healthy couples also respond to their spouse 9 out of every 10 times in which their spouse makes a request for their attention.

Types of Communication:

Passive- find it difficult to assert their needs, difficult to make eye contact, people pleasers, hard to express opinions, boundaries and feelings.

Passive Agressive- deny there is a problem, use sarcasm, guilt trips, backhanded compliments, complain to themself or others rather than confronting the issue at hand.

Agressive- innapropriatley honest, use humiliation to control others, dont listen well and interrupt frequently, speak in absolutes

Assertive- express their needs, desires and boundaries, own their feelings rather than blame others, speak with respect, clear and calm tone of voice, listen without interrupting.

Things that will always show there is trouble in a relationship

  1. criticism- stating complaints as a defect in persons personality.
  2. Contempt- fueled by negative thoughts of that person.
  3. defensiveness- self protection, blame, victimhood.
  4. stone walling- shutting down and withdrawal.

*Each of these is the protective response of the ego when it feels threatened

Its not about winning. Effective Communication is not a competition. If nobody is listening and you’ve alienated people because you have to WIN every conversation, you are INNAFFECTIVE.

Matthew 12:37 “But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person”

Confidence and Self Love:

How my moms growing confidence impacted me.
Your kids watch you, people watch you. What are they catching/experiencing between you and your spouse, your friends, your business practices, your self talk etc.

True Confidence is your belief in my ability to figure things out, its your heart, the quiet place within you. knowing who you are in Gods eyes and that your strength comes from him.

What is false confidence? physical, having the most friends, doing the most activities and social events- what you look like and how you act. Its not rooted in anything with a strong foundation and it doesn’t last.

2020 to get back to my authentic presence because real confidence isn’t structured- its freedom and flowing spontaneously.

*Big difference between changing who you are and EMBRACING as you grow into the fullness of who you are and becoming.

Sharing the wisdom of Brittany Packnett says that “Confidence is the necessary spark before everything that follows"

3 ways to crack the code of confidence: Permission, Community, Curiosity…

My aunt at a young age gave me permission… I share this personal story.

Permission :permission births confidence, its permission to defy expectations of you to blend in and do what’s expected.

*My entrepreneur journey with personal story and what it taught me.

Community: nurtures your confidence was propped up in sisterhood and friends

Curiosity: affirms confidence.

*I see daily as I coach women specifically that if I gave them a “confidence pill” SOO much would and could change in their lives.

Let go of labels people put on you
You gotta stand in front of your goals and dreams every day TRUSTING that everything you need is ALREADY in you- its your job to unlock it and STEP into it- confidence is in ACTION.

We often underestimate the importance of and as Brittany says “we see it as “a nice to have instead of a must have”

Only ways to build confidence

1.)Ask for what you want- There is a big correlation between asking what you want and asking for it.
2. Say no- it builds confidence when you can be more specific and align yourself with the great opportunities instead of going after all the “good” ones.

  1. Stop apologizing for your opinion- It’s simply owning your right to see things differently than others.
  2. Be a dare devil - go after your goal, take a risk
  3. expand your circle -more people who know where you want to go the faster you can team up and get there.

  4. Bonus: Change your story/narrative- ask the hard questions

Self Love

Self-love is an appreciation for yourself that grows from actions that are supporting our physical, psychological and spiritual growth.

Dr. Shainna Ali: Make sure you are tailoring your coping strategies based on your situation because you can cope preventatively OR when triggered there is reactive coping- the after i experienced a stressor.

for example: An adaptive way to handle high anxiety might be to go to therapy, another way is maladaptive may be avoidance, consistently and you compartmentalize and don’t deal the feelings.

A cornerstone to self love is understanding your meaning and purpose

Your boundaries being a form of self love come in different forms-

Are you willing to respect your own boundaries FIRST

Boundaries have to be intrapersonal first so you can work on the interpersonal boundaries. Gave tips for self love.

  1. More Mindfulness
  2. Act on what you need rather than what you want.
  3. Forgive yourself
  4. Live intentionally.

"I saw my differences as a weakness rather than a strength”

Our guest this week is Rick Werry. Rick gets vulnerable and transparent in sharing his life changing story after an injury that left him paralyzed from the chest down. Rick's perspective on life and its challenges are inspiring and leave you with a feeling that you can adapt and shift your perspective when life gets hard, that you can through hard work, never giving up and keeping the faith, you can do something today - that you couldn't do yesterday.

About Rick:
Rick Werry was born in a small town in Utah. The youngest of 4 kids growing up on a dairy farm. As a teenager Rick loved sports and being outdoors.
In 2007 Rick married his college sweetheart Tara. One year later while building their house, Rick was in a construction accident and broke his neck. His life changed that day as Rick became paralyzed from the chest down. Rick was scared, sad and unsure what the future holds when a nurse came into his hospital room. The nurse was holding a red pen and a calendar. She told Rick that any time you accomplish something you couldn't do yesterday we will write it down and call it a "Red Letter Day"
Rick has taken that nurses advice not only for recovering from a spinal cord injury, but also as a life lesson. In ricks "wheelchair life" Rick has accomplished so many amazing things. Rick has a handcycle and rides long distances, plays wheelchair Rugby and is always hunting. Rick and Tara now have twin boys that are their whole life. Rick is a great dad and always playing with the "boys"
Rick has started to compile his life lessons and "Red letter Days" into a memoir, and plans to have it published.

This weeks topic is strategy, verbiage and harnessing the power of "NO". Whether a friend is asking you for a personal favor, declining a social gathering you’d rather not attend, boss is asking you to take on extra work and so many more examples, Justine gives you her power words to feel confident in your NO and have the courage to put YOU first.

Following these strategies help:
Be clear when saying no. Saying things like “maybe” or “I’ll think about it” comes across as wishy-washy and uncertain.

Be honest about saying no. Lying about why you’re saying no to someone’s request can make you feel guilty and nothings worse than getting caught in it.

Don’t procrastinate. By telling someone no right away, you allow the other person to make other plans, just do the right thing girl.

Don’t make excuses or defend yourself. Remember that you have the right to say no.
Stop asking permission. An assertive no is not preceded with “Do you mind if I don’t . . . “ or “Will you be mad if I say no?, "Is this okay?"

Strengthen your no. If you’ve been saying yes to most requests for a long time, people likely won’t accept your refusal the first time you say no and they may push for a yes. Respond with a strong refusal, such as, “No, as I’ve said, I’m not willing to do that”.

As children we are also taught not to go against authority, we fear that if we don’t obey we will be punished so that starts the cycle of desire to please and be loved and we carry into adulthood.

Psychologically the inability to say no is directly linked to the need to seek this approval from others. Somewhere along the line we did not feel we could get love simply by being ourselves.

Inability to say no it can lead to” Bad relationships (manipulation), passive aggressive behavior.
Is a person who always says yes healthy themselves? codependent?

Lets Normalize no without feeling guilty or saying Sorry.

Justine's verbiage...

“I’m so excited for you, have a fabulous time, I’ll be thinking of you even though I’m not able to be there” OR I won’t be able to make it, Im grateful for the invite and its not a no forever but it is a no for right now.

“That sounds amazing, its just not something I can commit to right now” OR “Im not comfortable doing that”

Setting Boundaries at work, To your boss:

“Thank you so much for thinking of me for the project, i was planning on spending the rest of week working on the other two projects you’ve given me that are due really soon but Im happy to re-prioritize if you let me know which is most urgent"

To a co-worker:

Thanks for thinking of me to help plan the work fundraiser, it sounds really fun. Unfortunately Im at my capacity for the week but maybe one of the other coworkers is free to help

When someone says something racist or hateful: “No, thats not ok. Or just "WOW" with silence. Don’t waste words on someone who deserves your silence. Sometimes the most powerful things to say are nothing at all.

OR "Lets choose something else to talk about”

If this is a repeated matter :“As I have shared before the answer is no, I thank you in advance for respecting my wishes to Not bring this up again. “

Last tips:

-Practice Saying “no” in small; unimportant situations like not buying something at a store.

-Before you say yes , “ I would like a couple days to pray/think on this and assess my priorities and schedule so I can give it my absolute best, may I will let you know within 24 hours."

  • Ask yourself how bad the anxiety, guilt and disappointment etc you might feel if you don’t do what is being asked of you? Can you tolerate them?

-Seek a healthy mentor to share the decision
