Tokens: On Public Theology: Recent Episodes

Tokens Media

Theology–which literally translates to “God-talk”–gets little positive attention in the public sphere. In secular circles, it often gets written off as superstitious nonsense, while in religious circles, it tends to be thought of as the heady, up-in-the-clouds stuff that priests and professors argue about. And for those of us who don’t fall on one of the two extremes, we’re often left to study and talk about our theology in private.

But what if theology is more than mere superstitious nonsense or religious jargon? What if theology has much to contribute in our thinking about all the things that matter to us, from politics, to culture, to human flourishing?

In other words, what if our public discourse could use more God-talk, not less?

Today, we’ve compiled a playlist full of people who dare to do theology in public, with hopes of offering practical wisdom in our dealings with ourselves, each other, and our world.
