My name is Amy Jung, founder of CornerstoneChristCenteredCoaching.com and writer at WastelandToGraceland.com. Join me bi-weekly for a thought-provoking journey through significant questions that will help you coach yourself and the people you love. Thoughtful questions from the right heart motives bring honor and value to our relationships and help us live out a life congruent with what we say we believe before the Lord and others. They help our loved ones do the same. Asking is loving!
In this episode, we receive encouragement about waiting from my missionary friend, Susan Newkirk. Do you struggle as you wait for God to answer your prayers? Be encouraged to consider waiting as an opportunity to actively honor God, to grieve waiting, and to remember truths about who God is as you wait. In this episode Suzanne and I share some thoughts on growing in contentment. I share five ways the Christian shows contentment from Thomas Watson's book: The Art of Divine Contentment. Here is a link to my Christmas devotional on Amazon, Beyond the Nativity:https://a.co/d/el4gZiDThis book consists of twenty devotions Each devotion includes scripture to read, questions to ponder, and a historical painting of the nativity to view. The beautiful art in this book coupled with the deep truths of the incarnation are just what the Christ-follower's heart desires leading up to Christmas.
As Christians, we should be most content with Jesus. What dreams or desires get in the way of this for you? Additional questions: Are my dreams and desires more appealing to me than Jesus’ embrace? Am I embracing the dream or Jesus, the dream-giver? After establishing that answer, I’m moving on to the next level of contentment: Am I thinking correctly about God, the truths of who I am in Christ, and what I have in Him? Do these truths impact my perspective of life and my level of contentment? If I answer no, I go on to the next level: Why? Am I ignoring God’s working in my heart to look to Him for something? Am I holding onto sin or false belief?
How is your level of contentment impacted by your theological perspective? I'm asking myself and others that question on the blog this week.
While discontentment is inevitable for us as humans, it is possible, through the enabling work of grace through Christ, to be changed into people who are content with Him and with all His spiritual blessings. We will stumble, but we always have hope and help for growth, peace, and rest from striving to know, be, do, and have more. We have all that we need for life and godliness.
What if we know the truth and believe it, but we struggle to live it out practically? In my most recent post I share a few grace-focused things we must remember...and some sweet Charles Spurgeon quotes.
In this episode we ask the question of ourselves, “Do I live all of life like I believe it’s under the lordship of Christ?” You’ll be encouraged to keep trusting the Good Shepherd. He is able to keep that which you’ve committed to Him throughout this life and into the next.
God's Word calls us to turn to Him at all times, but what if we struggle with that in the midst of feelings of anger? In this episode, we remember that we can approach the throne of grace for help in our time of need. Will you join us this week in considering what our response is to the feeling of anger?
In this podcast, I mention a video of Dr. Paul David Tripp.

What is your plan for proactively influencing the direction of your own river of thoughts? In this episode, we consider how important care and planning are for our thoughts and encouragement if you struggle with doing that consistently. I also share something I've been practicing that has helped me over the past year and a half. Get the free download of Ten Biblical Truths and more at wastelandtograceland.com.
Like the Missouri River rushing along nearby my home, our river of thoughts must be respected as a source that can be both potentially beautiful and potentially dangerous. How can we seek to make it more and more beautiful? And what if we struggle to do this? Find encouragement to take your thought life seriously as well as encouragement if you struggle with consistently caring for it.
