In our fast-paced world, it's easy to get swept up in the hustle, forgetting to take care of ourselves along the way. Lindsay Miller dives into the urgent need for consciously deciding not to wear ourselves thin. We talk about how society often fails to emphasize self-care, and the importance of intentionally cultivating habits that promote it. Mindfulness as not just a passing trend, but a lifestyle that promotes clarity, focus, and inner peace.

When we start understanding our emotions and how past experiences influence our present reactions, then we can see how that can be beneficial. Finally, we discuss how shifting from a fear-based mindset to one of curiosity can enhance resilience, offering you a fresh and empowering perspective on navigating life's ups and downs. Set sail with us on this enlightening journey, and discover the tools to create a more fulfilling, resilient, and mindful life.

Melanoma not only affects the individual diagnosed with this disease, but it also has a significant impact on their family and loved ones. In this heartfelt conversation, my guest, Dee Conway shares her story about her sister Rose and her diagnosis of melanoma that ended her life within just 6 months. The emotional toll of melanoma can be overwhelming. Today we discuss the importance of early detection, the dangers of tanning beds, and the need for more education about skin cancer. Dee’s story is a powerful reminder of the importance of protecting your skin and taking steps to prevent melanoma.
The loss of her sister at the young age of 35, inspired her to become an advocate for sun safety and melanoma awareness. Dee’s advocacy work through the Melanoma Research Foundation and in Washington DC for the state of Arizona shows her efforts have helped to educate others and to hopefully prevent them from experiencing these tragedies.
If you are interested in getting involved in melanoma advocacy and support, there are many ways to do so. You can start by educating yourself about the disease and the importance of sun safety. You can also donate to organizations that support melanoma research or volunteer your time to help raise awareness and funds. Whatever you choose to do, your efforts can make a difference in the fight against melanoma.

We are setting the “Gold Standard” for skin health and advocating for sun safety in this must-listen episode. Get advice from 4-time melanoma survivor and Olympic Gold medalist Summer Sanders.
Growing up in California, learning to swim from an early age and eventually training for competition and the Olympics, gave Summer plenty of opportunities to be outside in the sun. Over time, this led to her hearing the words “you have malignant melanoma”. From that moment, Summer realized the deficit that exists when it comes to education and promoting sun protection and skin cancer awareness. She decided it was time to use her experience to bring the spotlight to sun safety and save lives.
Today, she shares her experience of her first diagnosis in 2014 to the present day and why she feels so strongly about sun protection and being an advocate.
Summer has accomplished so many amazing things in her life, winning not only two gold medals in the 1992 Olympics for swimming, but also being a TV and sports personality, a mom to 2 incredible children and also the wife of an Olympic skier.
I wanted to include her in this series because she has also faced melanoma four times and continues to thrive in her life. She shows her determination and resilience in this fight against a frightening diagnosis.
Together, let's educate ourselves and others on skin cancer and take action to advocate for our health. Don't miss this potentially life-saving episode.

Are you exhausted from striving to be perfect? When you push to be perfect, you may put yourself under more stress by trying to control things and over time this can potentially lead to chronic illness.
Today we are exploring the impact of perfectionism. In this episode, you will get practical strategies to release stress and anxiety and find acceptance of yourself.

Compassion is an attitude of empathy, caring, and understanding for ourselves and for others. It means recognizing when we’re struggling, offering kindness to ourselves and acknowledging those same struggles in other people. Compassion can transform the way we think about the world, giving us hope that even small actions can have a positive impact on our lives and the lives of others.
While difficulties come along with life, reminding yourself of how strong you have been in the past and that you have the capacity to make it through. Embrace the hardships you encounter, for overcoming these will bring about new strength and more compassion.
Mindfully connect and honor your ability to care with this compassion meditation…my gift to you!

Navigating cancer can be difficult not only at the time of diagnosis, but also while processing the trauma. The grief and sadness can feel overwhelming. The isolation can keep you stuck. The emotions can get packed away.
My guest, David Richman, author, athlete and philanthropist, found himself in a life transformation at the same time his sister was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. While she was in the last few weeks of her battle, he made a promise to her and decided to learn more by becoming more involved at a deeper level. The lack of emotion he witnessed in the world of cancer puzzled him. This led him to start a project. One that would change the lives of so many.
From this incredible adventure, he wrote his book “Cycle of Lives: 15 People’s Stories, 5,000 Miles, and a Journey Through the Emotional Chaos of Cancer”

Stress can be a normal part of life. What we must realize is that the effects of anxiety and stress seem obvious when we talk about our thoughts, but what about the harm to the body? When it becomes overwhelming, it can affect our physical wellbeing.

We all face challenges in our lives from time to time. If you don’t deal with them effectively they can continue to resurface.
So, what do you do when life doesn’t turn out the way you thought it would? My guest Deborah Fletcher and I will explore the power of resilience and joy.
You know that saying… “Life Happens”. Good or bad, it does. When life delivers those dark moments, how do we respond? Many of us stumble through and even push away from change, but it is in that change where we see the growth and discover a new path to peace.
Deborah received an invaluable message from her dad that got her through her challenges with her daughter's diagnosis with severe disabilities . She had the opportunity to choose how she would approach change, challenges, and grief associated with loss and disappointment.
She will inspire us to thrive and to find hope and acceptance of any situation. Build resilience into your life so that you can bounce back when things go wrong.

I didn’t ask for cancer, but it sure found me! It found me in an aggressive way 5 years ago. I watched my so-called normal life implode. This wasn’t my first big fight, but it was one of those final straw moments.
It was an abrupt stop in life as I knew it. Having the feeling that something is really wrong and then hearing “you have cancer” wreaks havoc in your world. It was like a black hole opened up and sucked me in. I’m not a dramatic person, but I can tell you it surpassed anything I had experienced before.
I started this show almost 2 years ago. It was 3 years after my first cancer diagnosis, after multiple surgeries, 2 years of cancer treatments and recently getting the all clear on a scan. The world was adjusting to this new realm of living in a world struggling to understand a pandemic.
I had to figure life out in a whole new way to live, to think and be. To find peace…
Listen to hear more about my story.

You have been given a second chance at life. Now what do you want to do with it?
We’ve all been told not to judge a book by its cover, but what if you could actually see inside the story? A good storyteller knows how to tell a story with emotion. They use words to make us feel something and find a way to connect with people through it.
My guest Kim Sorrelle is the author of two books. In her first book, “Cry Until You Laugh”, she shares her experience as she and her husband battle cancer after being diagnosed just four months apart. Her second book, "Love Is", chronicles her year-long quest to figure out the true meaning of love. She will let us into her world of discovery and she relives the moments in her life that lead her to this life changing and enlightening journey.
This episode will touch your heart if you are a cancer survivor or someone close to you has been through this fight. Find your new life through love and transformation with my guest today.

I want to welcome you, my dear friends, to the first Stay Anchored Meditation
We can all use a moment of peace in our days. Check in with yourself today and see how you are really feeling.
You know how important it is to live with less stress. There are many things that cause anxiety. Life in general can raise anxiety levels. Add in the memories of any challenging experiences, the emotions we feel, the fears we have before our appointments and scans or how to get our lives back on track.
Mindful breathing teaches you to focus on the breath while letting go of your negative thoughts and calming your mind. It allows you to stay anchored in the present moment and build resilience to anxiety and stress. It can make a big difference in your day.
There are so many benefits to mindful breathing. Reduce anxiety and stress, lessen negative thoughts and self talk, pain relief, and improved sleep, all just by breathing. Use this practice any time you feel like you need to take back control of your thoughts.
This is a valuable tool that can be readily available to use and will create a more gratitude filled life.
Enjoy this mini meditation to get you on your way to feeling more mindful and peaceful.

Are you struggling to fall asleep or wake up feeling refreshed? You may be suffering from poor quality sleep. Listen to my guest and holistic sleep coach Morgan Adams and discover why and what you can do about it!
Morgan helps women who struggle with getting a good night's sleep consistently. Her goal is to guide them to feel better and live better. The key to both begins with a good night's sleep.
She is a two-time breast cancer survivor and also a former insomniac. She advocates for a lifestyle of disease prevention and integrating holistic strategies for cancer treatment. She took a proactive, holistic and integrated approach to her cancer treatment and became her own health advocate, to do what was best for herself and her healing journey.
Morgan spent almost a decade using prescription sleeping pills despite knowing that her overall sleep quality suffered. Morgan now inspires and teaches other women how to confidently, calmly, and effectively get a good night's sleep without the use of sleep aides.
So, If you are feeling drained ,exhausted or just plain out of it, this is not an episode to sleep through!

Optimism. This single world can be your ticket to having a totally different life.
We need to remember to not be limited by our circumstances. We have the opportunity to make changes in how we live mentally and physically. To improve our quality of life. Leann Stickel joins me in this episode to talk about finding positivity in the dark times. Afterall, her superpower is being “genetically optimistic”. As a mom of 4 ,a wife and life coach she knows how life can challenge you. But this super power really became her focus when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 29.
Being a fighter has honed her life skills. She believes finding the positive in negative situations is a skill that can be learned, practiced, and perfected. Her mission is to teach her time tested tools to as many people as possible, so that they can experience the magic of positivity too! Mindset can be the determining factor in how your story plays out. Take back control of your life and find your joy. Leann is going to share with us how today.

“Our greatest glory is not in Never Falling, but in Rising every time we fall.” Confucius
We all have moments in life where we feel weak whether it's our minds or our bodies that have failed us. We have to realize it's okay. We are human. It is part of life.
Getting knocked off course can take its toll on us. The mental side of losing your course can cause us to beat ourselves up, get sidetracked and eventually make it difficult for us to bounce back. Life can be frustrating because we think we're doing something right and then something happens and we figure out we are not.
So what do you do? How do you increase your resilience?

It has been one heck of a week since the last episode- hence the title Rough Passage. I ended up having an emergency surgery after a routine scan. I know! Not what I was expecting.
When we face a life challenge, it causes us to act, reflect and reevaluate. It is the small steps that move us back to life as we know it and to experience the growth we can achieve.
We all have the tools we need to get us through life. Sometimes we don't remember where we left our tools. Sometimes we forget the tools that we have. This past week has been discouraging to say the least, but I also know the value that has come out of it. I know that my story will help someone else understand that no one is immune to life's struggles…me included.

This is a special first ever episode like this on the show. It is a conversation between two sisters. One is a cancer survivor and the other dedicates her days making a difference to cancer patients. Through thick and thin they are there for each other.
My sister, Kathleen St. Clair joins me in today's episode. She works as a patient services coordinator at Cancer Services and has a very important role in assisting those who are now thrust into this new world. Her compassionate and caring nature is an asset to those who walk through her door looking for guidance..
As a sibling to a survivor, you’ll hear her explain what it was like to learn that cancer had invaded her family and what it meant to watch from the outside as I went through my fight against stage 3 melanoma.

Change your life!
We all have had those moments in our life of feeling overwhelmed and stressed. Have you ever stopped to think where that feeling is coming from? What past event is at the core of those emotions?
Trauma can be stored in the body and will eventually show up in a number of ways. If you pay attention, you will start to notice this.
So, what do you do now?
My guest, Ann Hince, is here today to discuss her experience and what she did to help herself through those moments. Using EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique, she found there was a way to get through past trauma, to reverse the physical side effects of her deeply stored emotions and start living with a new perspective.
By seeking out her truth, she did a course correction and found her inner peace in life. We all have the incredible power to release the trauma from past memories and to venture into the subconscious mind to release tension stored in our body, simply using the power of awareness.

The definition of hope is the expectation, feeling, and belief that the future will be full of desired, meaningful events and outcomes. Without hope, it is difficult to imagine how or why humans would persevere.
I know you will be truly moved today with my guest Caroline Rose. She has made it her mission to share her story of hope and to inspire us to continue to fight and reclaim our lives.

He was her guide through her most difficult times. Together, the strength of their bondtaught them that there really are some things in life that are worth the fight.
They found that hope is what floats us through the most demanding times.
In this episode with Caroline, you will learn
Caroline’s story is more than a cancer survivor story. It’s the story of love, loss, and the ultimate realization that the hope of true joy always outweighs the struggle. Your experiences in life teach you so many lessons. Some of us have bigger and harder lessons, but the message is the same. Hope will give us the strength to overcome difficulties and hardships. Sometimes, hope is the only thing that keeps us going, keeps our head above water.
Our resilience and determination to continue the fight will bring us some of the greatest moments in our lives. Through laughter and tears we can thrive. It is what we hold on to that gives us the strength to go on. Riley was there to show Caroline how. By having that companionship and connection with him, she experienced first hand the healing power of animals.
Caroline is involved with various cancer boards and volunteering with the local dog rescue. She remains passionate about spreading hope and giving back to those who are still searching for their hopeful ever after.

When we think of success, how often do we consider the actual journey that is traveled to that success? It can be a bumpy ride. We usually need to go through the worst of times only to shine so brightly on the other side.
We all have challenges in life. We've felt the hurt and sadness that have taken us to those dark places. Going there creates an opportunity to grow, to learn from those moments. When we learn and apply those lessons, we find our potential to succeed.
Imagine being a struggling high school student, losing your mom to a 20 year opioid battle and having your dad in jail. My guest, Justin Schenck, went through these very traumatic events, BUT he took his experience of hitting rock bottom to do something incredible, to grow and turn his life around. To forge ahead and become a successful entrepreneur, speaker and the host of the top rated podcast “Growth Now Movement”.
In today’s episode, I will be talking with Justin about:
Justin’s powerful message has impacted millions of lives through his practice of gratitude and keeping balance in his life. This balance comes from focusing on the “4 Pillars of Life” and his method to overcome any limiting belief you might have.
Now is the time to decide how you want your future to look.

What is the secret recipe for reversing chronic disease, looking and feeling better and most important creating sustainable health habits?
Eating healthy is exceptionally delicious with my guest and “healthy gal”, Lynne Bowman. She is wise and witty and has created a whole food, plant based and practical way of eating. This holistic approach is what has helped Lynne to overcome her own health issues.
Lynne was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes over 30 years ago. Through her understanding of the importance of food and modifying her lifestyle, she became living proof that you can cook, eat, sleep and walk your way out of type 2 diabetes, or at least the ill effects of it. In addition, the benefits extend to aging well and looking fantastic!
In her new book, “Brownies for Breakfast,” she takes us through her Healthy Galley and shares exactly how you can do it too. It is a wonderful feast for the eyes as well.
Would you ever think of eating brownies for breakfast? Probably not, but you may rethink that after hearing this episode.
In my conversation with Lynne, we are going to be talking about:
Lynne’s colorful and charismatic personality pairs well with the food she eats. Perhaps that is another benefit to following her lead. She is full of energy and continues to be active in truly LIVING her life.
Her recipes are Low-carb, gluten-free, super nutritious recipes everybody in the family will like, and anybody can make. Just when you thought your favorites were out, Lynne redesigned them without all the bad stuff.
“When you allow yourself, mentally and physically, to eat high-quality food it changes your relationship with food. If you sit down to a table full of green and yellow and pink and red and orange and beautiful foods with beautiful fragrance and textures and you say to yourself “I’m gonna eat whatever I want and I get to eat whatever I want”. Suddenly now, not only is the food healthy, but your relationship without food becomes healthy. That’s huge!”
Her book “Brownies for Breakfast” is beautifully photographed and filled with easy to follow recipes to drool over.
You can find out more about Lynne on her website at LynneBowman.com

Relationships - We all have them. They exist in many forms in our lives.
We have relationships with people, finances, spirituality and most importantly - ourselves.
With energy and excitement, my guest Chris Plourde is joining me today to shed some light on how we can better our relationships. You might be surprised what it is!
By starting on the inside, you can unlock your true potential and find balance in your life. Finding your freedom comes from shifting your perspective. Becoming the best version of yourself is the journey.
Chris is a Conscious Performance Coach, Consultant, Speaker and Mind Body Instructor. Using physical, mental and emotional aspects of wellness & life, he teaches how to embrace yourself with love and clarity. Now is the time to live a life of peace and happiness!
In my conversation with Chris we will be covering:
What I learned today in my conversation with Chris is: In any relationship, it takes you being the best you to make it successful, your relationship with yourself and bringing your best self forward is the most important. Until we get ourselves on the right path, we will struggle. Fear can be a big stumbling block for us on our journey and can create a barrier to moving through situations in our lives. Flipping that fear into courage will empower us to make those moves to understand ourselves better. Once you can conquer that, you can thrive in all aspects of your life. Taking care of you doesn’t mean being selfish, it means you are able to present your best to the world.
We are reprogramming our thinking for healthy relationships.

WOW! What a year it has been. This is EPISODE45!
This episode is about time and change - for Lorie and for the show. There's nothing like starting the new year with a new look.
"If you told me five years ago this would be my current life, I don’t know if I could even begin to believe it."
⚓️Another year has passed and what would you say YOUR biggest challenge was?
⚓️What was something you overcame?
Lorie's year started with the realization that big changes were going to happen. You can't say she didn't get things accomplished in 2021. She started the year with dreaming about how her life would change. With every step she took, the dream became more real. While living the so-called “normal life", she made progress with working through the logistics of what her new life would be.
We only get one shot at this. Now is the time to start your journey to health, happiness and living our dreams. That's the power we have inside ourselves. Lorie continues to find ways to live a healthy, happy life with the information and ideas from her guests and in life. She will continue to encourage you to live your dreams. "Remember I am on this journey with you. I'm so thankful to everyone who has been a part of the show, whether you've been a guest or a listener or family or friends that support. You have helped so many including myself! I have so much to be thankful for.
Life is meant to be lived and I am on that path." You only get this time right now to live your best life. Enjoy life and live it to the fullest. Afterall, this is your journey!

We all need something to direct us on our journey. Some sort of beacon to guide us on our journey of growth. In today’s episode, my guest Dieter Randolph and I talk about what we can do to find the meaning in our lives. We all have a calling and we all want growth, happiness and freedom.
At the end of your life, what will you be remembered by? Do you know your story? Take a second and check in with yourself. If the answer is no, well, you are in the right spot. Dieter is a third-generation minister, a coach, and a teacher as well as the author of “MeaningFullFilled”. His mission is to help you find a life that you love, one that truly feeds you. One that makes you the hero of your story.
In today’s episode we will be discussing with Dieter:
The Southern Cross is a constellation most clearly seen from the Southern Hemisphere with the four brightest stars forming a cross. Sailors know it well and have used the Southern Cross to help navigate their boats since the 15th century.
Remember, there is something you have that no one else has. You don’t need anything extra to be who you already are. Be the hero of your story. Follow your southern cross. It is already in your heart and it is ready to guide you. Isn’t it wonderful to know we’re all in this together.
When you win, so does the world.

From the beginning of her life, Penelope Joye was exposed to the sun and went through her childhood as many of us did with long days at the beach or pool with little or no protection. She paid the price. The result was a melanoma diagnosis, not once, but twice. The seriousness of this compelled her to examine her life and find a solution to preventing future concerns with premature aging, sun damage and skin cancer.
Penelope has had her scare with skin cancer, but it is what she did because of it that she shares with us today. Growing up in Australia then moving on to her well travelled life, she gained the experiences that would give her an idea...one that would become a passion for her. She found a creative solution for protection against the sun’s harmful rays.
Her solution is easy to use, practical and best of all so very beautiful. It is the whole nine yards!
In today’s episode is “The Whole Nine Yards”. with Penelope , we will be learning about:
What a creative, resourceful and beautiful guest. I just loved how she took a need and turned it into something she is so passionate about. What a vast life change from learning the business operations in her mother's restaurant to investment banker to umbrella guru. It goes to show how all of our life experiences lead us to where we need to be.
We also are reminded that we need to take care of ourselves and be proactive with protecting ourselves from sun damage. I always like to take time to point out the seriousness of skin cancer, melanoma even more so. Do what you can daily AND in all seasons with sunscreen, clothing, and accessories to prevent putting yourself in a potentially deadly situation.

This is a heartfelt and touching conversation about the reality of life.
We will all go through grief and loss at some point. Life is precious. Let’s make the most of the time we have together. Even if it means having the hard conversations.
The importance of end-of-life communication hit home when Lynn Sherwood's 25 year-old daughter, Lauren, was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer. In the five months they shared between diagnosis and death, this mom and daughter navigated the waters of legal and health care decisions, interpersonal relationships, and communicating personal preferences which would bring comfort, joy and peace…
This candid and emotional conversation with Lynn will cover:
She encourages us to think about dying as a natural part of life - designing our dying to achieve a potentially “happier ending!”
The reality is that anyone could perrish without this wake-up call and at any time. Trying to make decisions while grieving the loss of a loved one is a difficult subject, yet it is one that everyone will deal with eventually. This is a difficult subject and I hope you can look at it in a different light now.
Lynn is a former nurse, "companionship-centered" caregiver, serial entrepreneur, author of “Lung Cancer 101” and “My Croak File,” and TEDx Speaker.

Do you know how to live the life you desire? Learn how to be calm, have peace of mind, and find meaning in your life now.
How you ask? Float in the stillness. When you go inside yourself, be still and listen. There you will find your answers. There you will find your joy.
My guest today is Erin McCullough also known as the "Joy Slinger,". She is a thought leader & International Teacher of Impenetrable Joy. Erin teaches people how to find Impenetrable Joy: that is the ability to no longer be at the mercy of people or circumstances to dictate whether you have a good or bad day, a good or bad life. She also explains the difference between happiness and joy and how to find and cultivate your joy so that it is the predominant experience in your life. Learn how to still your mind and understand why you are here and what you are meant to be doing.
Erin’s story shows the impact anxiety has on our lives. Through her experience she learned how and why that happened and developed strategies to overcome and prevent it, which is what she now teaches.
Erin vowed she would do whatever she could to make sure that no one had to have that experience, so that has been her mission.

Steven Crane spent the year 2020 "marinating his brain" as he says, in the spirit of gratitude and appreciation... and lots of writing after his teenage son's challenge to examine why his response to so many situations was negative.
While the world was on lock-down and going through a pandemic, he discovered something life-changing. He found there were hidden blessings all over the place in things he previously viewed as negatives. He learned it's possible to rewire that negativity, and live more mindfully in a spirit of true appreciation.
From questioning faith after losing loved ones to cancer, or his own significant health challenges to the more everyday challenges like careers, parenting, relationships, Steven realized it was time to take a hard look at his life.

I want to be a beacon of light to Cancer Survivors and others with life challenges and be an inspiration to stay positive while going through these life-altering events. I will share my conversations with amazing people who are survivors, those touched by cancer, influencers and sailors and to share organizations that provide support and hope for the future. It’s time to feel empowered! It’s time to make every choice count! Join me as I set sail on this new adventure... Sailing Through Life. Subscribe, tell all your friends and follow me on Instagram on Sailing Through Life Podcast. Thank you so much!
