To see God's hope transform out cities one story at a time.. that is why we exist. Whether you are brand new to Church or you’ve been around for a while; we want to say welcome! Our goal is to create moments and opportunities for you to encounter God in the midst of your life. We want you to join us just as you are and experience the hope we have in Christ.
You already know the Bible is good for you. So why is it so hard to stay consistent?
Drawing from 2 Timothy 3, Pastor Aaron McRae makes the case that Scripture isn't just useful — it's doing something in you every time you engage with it. Teaching. Rebuking. Correcting. Training. Four words that sound simple but carry the weight of a life being shaped from the inside out.
This is week two of Hillside's series on Scripture, and it tackles the question behind the question: not just how to read the Bible, but what God is actually trying to accomplish through it. The goal isn't more information. It's not a better morning routine. It's becoming more like Jesus — thoroughly equipped for every good work.
It's never too late to start. And you're never finished growing.

Most people who read the Bible are reading it for the wrong thing.
For information. For answers. For a checklist. And when it doesn't deliver, they close it and walk away disappointed. But what if the Bible was never meant to be read like a search engine — or a self-help book — or an instruction manual?
Drawing from Luke 24 and the Road to Emmaus, Pastor Aaron unpacks what Scripture is actually designed to do: reveal a person, tell a story, teach a truth, and require a life. This is week one of a new series on Scripture — and it starts with one question: what would change if you read the Bible not for information, but for intimacy?
One small habit. Consistently practiced. The power to transform your life.

What if the thing you're most proud of is the exact thing standing between you and real life?
A successful, "good" young man comes to Jesus with a resume most of us would envy — wealthy, respected, morally upright. He's kept every commandment. He's checked every box. So why does he walk away from Jesus sad?
Pastor Aaron McRae walks through Matthew 19:16-26, where Jesus meets a man who wanted eternal life to be one more thing he could earn — and exposes what was actually running his life the whole time. It's not really a story about money. It's a story about identity, control, and what we quietly trust to make us whole.
This week, we're asking: what are you holding onto that you'd say no to Jesus over? And what does it actually look like to follow him instead of just admiring him?
In this message:
-Why "good behavior" was never the point
-What Jesus meant by "impossible with man, possible with God"
-The difference between admiring Jesus and following him
-What it costs — and what it's worth

What if you're in the middle of a dust storm right now — and you don't even know it?
When visibility drops to near zero, when you feel disoriented and alone, it's easy to miss what God is actually doing. In Luke 24, two disciples walk seven miles with the risen Jesus — and don't recognize him. Not because he's hidden. Because they're downcast.
Drawing from the Road to Emmaus, guest speaker Chris Simning unpacks three questions that stop us in our tracks: Is something blinding you from seeing God at work? How can you be fully alive in your brokenness? And what truth do you need to acknowledge today?
Through his own story of living with two disabilities, Chris shows what it looks like to find road signs of God's faithfulness — even when the storm hasn't passed.
Jesus is ever so near. You may just need new eyes to see him.

Most of us spend our lives trying to prove we're strong enough. Strong enough to hold the marriage together. Strong enough to handle the bad news. Strong enough to carry the pressure.
But what if that's exactly the wrong thing to pack?
Drawing from Exodus 6 and the rescue story of Israel, Pastor Karl Romeus unpacks one of the most practical questions scripture asks us: what are you carrying into this season of life? Fear or faith? Doubt or memory? Panic or patience?
Through the story of Miriam — a woman who waited decades and still packed a tambourine — this message is a reminder that God isn't just taking you somewhere. He's making you into someone.
Whatever you're carrying right now, this one's worth your time.

Most people think freedom means doing whatever you want. But what if that's exactly what keeps you stuck?
In Galatians 5, the Apostle Paul writes to a group of churches that had already encountered the gospel — and were drifting away from it. Sound familiar? The freedoms they were chasing — self-sufficiency, religious performance, personal desire — were quietly becoming the very things that enslaved them.
Pastor Woody unpacks three movements of true freedom found in Christ: freedom from ourselves, freedom in the sacrifice of Jesus, and freedom to serve others. Drawing from Galatians 2, 3, and 5, this message reframes what liberation actually looks like — not a life with no limits, but a life no longer ruled by the wrong things.
If you've ever wondered why the freedom you're chasing never quite delivers — this one's worth your time.

What if the stories you tell your kids reveal more about your values than you realize?
In Psalm 145, David — a king with real power — does something surprising. He refuses to take credit. Instead, he points upward and says: you are the real King. And then he passes that posture on.
Pastor Aaron unpacks what it looks like to build a life of praise — not as a Sunday activity, but as a daily practice that shapes perspective, forms gratitude, and leaves something worth inheriting. Because what we celebrate, we repeat. And what we repeat, we pass on.
If you've ever wondered what it actually means to leave a legacy of faith — this one's for you.

What makes someone a great father? Biology is just the beginning.
On Father's Day, Pastor Aaron McRae explores one of the most surprising ideas in Scripture — that spiritual fatherhood isn't reserved for dads. It's a calling for anyone willing to lead someone toward Jesus and walk alongside them.
Drawing from 1 Corinthians 4, this message unpacks what it looks like to warn without shame, love without condition, set an example worth following, and point people back to who they already are in Christ.

What Actually Happens When You Get Baptized?
Most of us have watched a baptism. The water, the moment, the applause. But what if there's something happening beneath the surface that most people never stop to think about?
Here's something worth sitting with: repentance is the first word of the gospel. The first word out of John the Baptist's mouth. The first word of Jesus' public ministry. The first instruction after the resurrection. The first word of the first Christian sermon. Baptism is where that repentance goes public — where an inward decision becomes an outward declaration.
In this message, Pastor Aaron McRae unpacks the scene in Matthew 3 where Jesus steps into the Jordan River — and what that moment reveals about three things baptism marks fresh in every believer's life: a new identity in Christ, an inauguration into life and ministry, and a living illustration of the gospel itself.
Whether you were baptized decades ago or are still figuring out what you believe, this is an invitation to remember what that moment meant — and to keep living like it actually does.

Summer is the season we're most tempted to make everything about us. Our plans. Our rest. Our best life. But what if God had something better in mind?
In this stand-alone message, Pastor Woody Morwood opens Micah 6:8 — one of the most quoted verses in all of Scripture — and asks a harder question: are we actually living it, or just knowing it?

Most of us have some version of church we've settled for. Show up. Sit down. Go home. But what if that's nowhere near what the church was actually designed to be?
In Acts 2, the earliest followers of Jesus didn't just attend something — they were devoted to something. Devoted to each other. Devoted to prayer, Scripture, meals, and radical generosity. And the result? People noticed. Lives changed. The community grew — not because of a marketing strategy, but because they were genuinely becoming something different together.
In this message, we explore what it looks like for a church to live into its full potential — and what's at stake when we settle for less.
You'll walk away thinking about:
Commitment — Some commitments require a "yes" even when you don't feel like it. What does it look like to be truly devoted to a community, not just a Sunday service?
Maturity — Spiritual growth isn't a solo project. You don't become more like Jesus in isolation. Your development is connected to the people around you — and the community you're willing to stay committed to.
Calling — Every person in the church is a minister. Every home is a center of ministry. The question isn't whether you have a role to play — it's whether you're playing it.
This isn't a guilt trip about church attendance. It's an invitation to something far more meaningful than a weekly hour on Sunday.

On Pentecost Sunday — the 50th day after Passover — something extraordinary happened that changed everything. God wasn't just receiving offerings that day. He was giving the ultimate gift: His Holy Spirit.
In this message, we explore Acts 2 and unpack how the Holy Spirit doesn't just help the church — He is the very engine that starts and sustains it. Without Him, we simply cannot do what God has called us to do.
Whether you're brand new to faith or have been following Jesus for decades, this message will challenge you to stop trying to do life and ministry in your own strength — and invite the Spirit to fill, lead, and empower you.

What if the exhaustion you feel isn’t just physical? In this message, Pastor D.A. Horton walks through Matthew 11:25–30 and Jesus’ invitation to weary people carrying heavy burdens: “Come to me… and I will give you rest.”
In a culture obsessed with hustle, productivity, and self-reliance, Jesus offers something radically different — rest for the soul. This sermon explores how true peace is not found through control, achievement, or escape, but through humility, surrender, and relationship with Christ.
Through three key movements — Receive, Rest, and Remain — Pastor Horton unpacks:
-Why spiritual understanding begins with humility, not pride
-How Jesus invites us to bring Him our anxiety, pressure, stress, and striving
-What it means to exchange self-reliance for the lighter yoke of Christ
-Why the world’s versions of “rest” never fully satisfy
-How God’s presence sustains us step by step through life’s heaviness

Why do we go to church—and what is it actually for?
In this message, Pastor Aaron McRae challenges a common, modern assumption: that church exists to meet our personal needs, preferences, and expectations. Instead, through Ephesians 3, we’re invited into something far bigger—God’s eternal, global purpose for His Church.
This teaching reframes church from a place we attend to a mission we join.
You’ll explore:
If you’ve ever felt disconnected, disappointed, or unsure about your place in church, this message will challenge and reorient your perspective.
Because the Church isn’t built around us—
we’re invited into what God is already doing.

What if everything you’ve believed about heaven is incomplete?
In this message we explore a powerful biblical truth: eternity isn’t about escaping earth—it’s about God restoring everything.

If you’ve ever wondered what happens after we die—or how eternity connects to your life today—this teaching brings clarity, hope, and a bigger vision of God’s plan.
God isn’t abandoning creation—He’s making everything new.

What if your perspective on eternity could completely reshape how you handle disappointment, frustration, and conflict today?
In this powerful message, Pastor Woody Morwood unpacks how a biblical understanding of eternity reframes our daily lives—moving us from despair to durable hope. What do you actually believe about eternity?
If honest, a lot of us have picked up ideas about heaven that aren’t really rooted in Scripture. Maybe it’s images of clouds and harps… or just the assumption that eternity is distant, unclear, or even uninteresting.
But what if we’ve been missing something bigger?
In this message, Pastor Aaron McRae wants to help us see that eternity isn’t just about what happens after we die—it’s about what God is doing through Jesus to restore all things.
Looking at John 20 and the resurrection of Jesus, we begin to see a clearer picture:
Eternity is not about escaping this world—it’s about the renewal of it. And at the center of it all is Jesus.
As we walk through this, I want to challenge and encourage you to consider:
Because when we see eternity clearly, it changes how we live today.

What does it actually mean when we say, “Jesus saves”?
In Week 2 of What We Believe: Part 2, Pastor Aaron McRae walks through Matthew 21 and the events leading to the cross to uncover a deeper, often misunderstood truth: Jesus didn’t come to save us the way we expect—He came to save us in the way we truly need.
As Jesus enters Jerusalem, the crowds celebrate Him as King, shouting “Hosanna”—a cry for salvation. But their expectations were centered on comfort, control, and immediate rescue. Jesus had something greater in mind.
This message explores the tension many of us feel today:
Through Scripture, we see that salvation is more than a moment—it’s a transformation. Jesus saves us from sin, restores what’s broken, and invites us into a life sustained by grace.
This teaching invites you to wrestle honestly with what you believe about Jesus—and consider how that belief shapes your expectations, your faith, and your daily life.
As we approach Easter, this message creates space to reflect on the weight of the cross before we celebrate the victory of the resurrection.

What you believe about Jesus doesn’t stay theoretical—it shapes how you live, how you respond to suffering, and how you love people who are difficult to love.
In Week 1 of What We Believe: Part 2, Pastor Aaron McRae walks through John 1 and explores the doctrine of the incarnation—what it means that Jesus is fully God and fully human, and why that truth still matters in everyday life.
Through both Scripture and real-life examples, this message addresses questions many people wrestle with:
You’ll see how a clear understanding of Jesus doesn’t just inform belief—it reshapes purpose, relationships, and the way we engage a broken world.
The message also introduces four practical ways the life of Jesus reframes how we live: being present with people, moving toward brokenness, embracing humility, and faithfully sharing the hope we’ve found.
If you’ve ever wondered how faith connects to real life—or what it actually looks like to follow Jesus beyond Sunday—this message provides a grounded and honest starting point.

What does it really mean to be rich toward God? And what does Jesus have to say about the way we handle money, possessions, and our future?
Today, Pastor Aaron McRae explores one of Jesus’ most challenging parables in Luke 12 — the story often called the Parable of the Rich Fool. When a man interrupts Jesus with a dispute over inheritance, Jesus uses the moment to expose a deeper issue: greed, misplaced security, and a misunderstanding of what life is truly about.
Through this teaching, we wrestle with an uncomfortable but freeing truth: Life is not defined by what we accumulate but by how we relate to God and participate in His kingdom.
This message invites us to rethink how we approach stewardship—not as obligation, but as an opportunity to trust God and join His work in the world.
You’ll discover how intentional planning with our resources can lead to deeper faith, greater joy, and eternal impact.

In this message, Pastor Woody Morwood shares a powerful teaching from 2 Corinthians 9:6–8, exploring the biblical heart behind generosity, stewardship, and joyful giving.
Through a moving personal story from 1991—when he lived with a Christian family in the former Soviet Union—Pastor Woody illustrates what sacrificial generosity truly looks like. Despite living with very little, this family demonstrated deep joy and faith by giving generously out of what they had. Their example becomes a living picture of the kind of generosity the Apostle Paul encourages in his letter to the church in Corinth.
This message reminds us that biblical generosity is not primarily about money—it’s about the posture of our hearts as followers of Jesus.
Paul teaches that believers are called to live with three key attitudes:
1. Generously
Our generosity reflects God’s own generosity toward us. Every good gift comes from Him, and when we trust His provision, we can live open-handedly rather than fearfully.
2. Joyfully
God loves a cheerful giver. Giving should not come from guilt, pressure, or obligation, but from gratitude for the grace we’ve received through Jesus.
3. Willingly
Everything we have ultimately belongs to God. We are not owners but stewards, entrusted with resources to participate in God’s work in the world.
Pastor Woody challenges believers to take a step forward in their generosity journey—from nothing, to something, to consistent giving, and ultimately toward sacrificial generosity that reflects trust in God’s faithfulness.
The message concludes with an opportunity for the congregation to respond together through prayer, connection, and participation in giving.

In Week 8 of our James series, Pastor Aaron McRae walks through James 5:12–20 and explores one central theme: the power of words.
From truthful speech to corporate prayer, from confession to restoring someone who has wandered from the faith, James reminds us that words shape lives, communities, and eternity.
We live in a world filled with noise — conspiracy theories, instant reactions, and competing truth claims. But James calls believers to something radically different:
Pastor Aaron unpacks how suffering can strain our relationship with God and others — and how prayer is meant to anchor and restore the community. James shows us that sickness, hardship, and even wandering faith are not problems to ignore but opportunities for prayerful care and courageous love.
This message challenges us to move beyond private spirituality into corporate vulnerability:
James closes his letter not with theory — but with action. Words that tell the truth. Words that pray. Words that confess. Words that restore.
Because the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

What do you do while you’re waiting on God?
In James Week 7, Pastor Aaron walks through James 4–5 to uncover a counter-cultural wisdom for planning, handling wealth, and waiting on the Lord. James confronts arrogant assumptions about tomorrow, exposes the danger of wealth without surrender, and reminds us that our lives are like a mist—temporary, fragile, and fully dependent on God.
This message challenges us to ask:
James doesn’t condemn planning or wealth—he confronts pride, arrogance, and misplaced security. Instead of self-sufficiency, we are called to humility. Instead of hoarding, generosity. Instead of panic about the future, patient trust in the Lord’s coming.
Because real wisdom isn’t just about making plans—it’s about surrendering them.

What causes fights, jealousy, and division—even among believers?
In this powerful message from James 4, Pastor Jayden Zwerner walks us through one of the most confronting passages in Scripture. James doesn’t blame circumstances, politics, personality conflicts, or other people. He goes deeper. The root of conflict, he says, is the battle within us—desires that were once good but have become ultimate.
Building from James 3:13–18, we’re reminded that true wisdom is humble, peace-loving, full of mercy, and sincere. But when envy and selfish ambition take root, disorder follows. James 4 asks the hard question: What happens when “me, my, and mine” take the driver’s seat of our lives?
Through the story of Rachel and Leah (Genesis 29–30), we see how unchecked jealousy and comparison can spiral into relational destruction. What begins as a good desire can slowly become an idol—reshaping our identity, our prayer life, and even our friendships.
This sermon explores:
The invitation is not shame—it’s grace. The same grace that saved you is the grace that sustains you. When we humble ourselves, submit to God, and draw near to Him, He promises to lift us up.
If you’ve ever wrestled with envy, comparison, unanswered prayer, or frustration that obedience isn’t “paying off,” this message is for you.
📖 Scripture Focus: James 3:13–18; James 4:1–10
🙏 Closing Prayer: Psalm 51:10–12

In James Week 5, Pastor Aaron McRae tackles one of the most challenging and relevant issues in our everyday lives: our words. From trained animals and massive ships to raging wildfires, James uses vivid imagery to show that while humans can tame almost anything, no one can tame the tongue.
Walking through James 3, this teaching reveals the sobering truth that uncontrolled speech can wound deeply, divide communities, and even shape the direction of our lives. Words are never words “just slipping out”—they reveal what is stored in the heart. Gossip, anger, careless teaching, and online speech all carry disproportionate power, especially in a world where everyone has a platform.
But James doesn’t leave us stuck. The tongue may not be able to be tamed, but it can be transformed. Through submission to God, repentance, wisdom, and the renewing work of Jesus, our words can move from destruction to healing, from division to reconciliation. As followers of Christ, we are called to speak life—words that glorify God, build others up, and point people toward the reconciling hope of the gospel.

What does it mean to have a faith that actually lives?
In James 2:14–24, Pastor Woody Morwood challenges us to recapture an undeniable, living faith—a faith that moves beyond words and belief statements into real, visible action. James confronts the idea that faith can exist without deeds and asks a sobering question: Can that kind of faith save?
Through a powerful story of a small church faithfully serving people released from prison in Venezuela, this message reminds us that faith is not a claim to make—it’s a life to live. A faith rooted in Jesus will always express itself through love, compassion, and obedience. True faith shows up in real moments, responds to real needs, and moves toward people—not away from them.
James teaches that faith and action are not competing ideas. They are inseparable. Faith is a verb, and when it is alive, it shapes how we love, serve, give, and live every day.
This message invites us to examine our faith honestly and ask: Is my faith moving—or has it stalled?

Playing favorites may feel like a phase we outgrow, but James confronts how deeply partiality still shapes our lives—and our faith. In James 2:1–13, we are warned that favoritism based on status, appearance, wealth, or ideology is incompatible with faith in Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.
This teaching by Pastor Aaron McRae exposes how easily we absorb the world’s habits of ranking, judging, and dividing others, often without realizing it. James reminds us that true faith is not merely held—it is lived. Faith in Jesus must look like Jesus, expressed through mercy, humility, and love for neighbor without exception.
Through Scripture, cultural insight, and practical application, this message calls believers to examine their hearts, reject unconscious bias, and live under the “royal law” of love. Ultimately, James leaves us with a defining vision for Christian living: mercy triumphs over judgment.

What does it really mean to hear God? In James Week 2, Pastor Aaron McRae explores how genuine listening to God’s Word is proven not by information received, but by lives transformed. Using the image of a hearing test, James challenges us to examine whether we are merely hearing Scripture—or actually responding to it with obedience.
Walking through James 1:19–27, this message unpacks how hearing God begins with listening more than speaking, slowing our anger, humbly welcoming the Word, and intentionally putting it into practice. Pastor Aaron highlights James’s warning against self-deception: when we hear without doing, we convince ourselves we’re growing when we’re not. True faith is not just orthodox belief but lived obedience that expresses itself in transformed character and compassionate action toward others.
This teaching invites us to quiet the noise of our lives, tune our hearts to God’s voice through Scripture, and respond with concrete, faithful steps. When we hear like God intends, our hearts are aligned with Him—and our lives become attentive to the needs of the people around us.

In James Week 1, Pastor Aaron McRae opens the Book of James by addressing one of life’s hardest questions: How do we trust God in the middle of real suffering? James does not deny the reality of trials—he names them plainly—and invites believers into a new, Jesus-centered way of viewing hardship, vulnerability, and perseverance.
Drawing from James 1, the sermon reframes trials as places where God forms resilience, maturity, and hope. Rather than offering clichés or quick fixes, Scripture calls us to honest faith—one that asks God for wisdom, resists despair, and clings to Jesus when suffering lingers. True faith is not proven by the absence of pain, but by perseverance shaped through it.

We live in a culture obsessed with efficiency—quick fixes, shortcuts, and life hacks that promise fast results. But what if the life God is forming in us requires something slower, deeper, and more transformative?
In this message, we explore the difference between life hacks and life-giving habits, and why spiritual maturity is not accidental—it is formed through intentional rhythms, practices, and relationships over time. Using Colossians 1, Hebrews 5, and other key Scriptures, this teaching reframes Christian maturity not as doing more religious activity, but becoming fully trained in Christ for the sake of others.
We examine common cultural lies about identity, truth, and independence, and contrast them with biblical habits that lead to real formation: knowing and relying on God’s love, ongoing engagement with Scripture, sacrificial service, and authentic interdependence within the church. This message challenges cultural Christianity and invites us into a committed, formed, resilient faith that lasts.
If you are entering a new year asking, “Who am I becoming?” or “What kind of faith do I want to build?”, this teaching offers a clear, biblical vision for spiritual growth rooted in Jesus—not hype, not shortcuts, but transformation.

In this message, Pastor Natalie Moore walks through Acts 16 to reveal how the gospel of Jesus reaches people from every background, circumstance, and moment of desperation. From Lydia’s open heart, to a nameless enslaved woman set free, to a Roman jailer asking, “What must I do to be saved?”, one truth becomes unmistakably clear: the gospel is for everyone.
Pastor Natalie highlights how the same Holy Spirit who empowered the early church is alive and active in believers today, challenging us to consider whether we are living out our faith with the same boldness and obedience as those who came before us. Through Paul and Silas’ worship in prison, their response to suffering, and their care for people in crisis, we are reminded that followers of Jesus are called to offer a Savior before a solution.
This teaching also reframes evangelism as a relational, prayerful way of life—sharing not only the gospel, but our lives—through intentional relationships, hospitality, and trust in God’s timing. Whether you are new to faith, facing a season of desperation, or longing to share your faith more confidently, this message invites you to recognize divine opportunities and live anchored in the hope of Jesus.

What if joy isn’t something you chase—but something you receive?
In this Advent message, Pastor Aaron McRae explores the deep, lasting joy that Jesus brings—a joy that is often unexpected, received by faith, and anchored in eternity.
Drawing from Luke 2 and the Christmas story, this message reframes joy beyond temporary happiness, success, or comfort. Pastor Aaron contrasts the world’s pursuit of happiness with the biblical invitation to joy—one that meets us in brokenness, suffering, uncertainty, and fear. From the unlikely joy announced to shepherds, to reflections from thinkers like C.S. Lewis, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and modern neuroscience, this message shows how true joy is not circumstantial, but relational.
This sermon speaks directly to those navigating stress, grief, anxiety, financial pressure, health challenges, or spiritual dryness. It reminds us that Jesus came not only to save what is lost, but to heal what is broken—and His joy is available here and now, regardless of circumstances.
If you are searching for meaning beyond happiness, longing for hope this Christmas season, or wondering where to anchor your joy, this message will help you make room for the lasting joy found only in Jesus.

In a season filled with noise, deadlines, and nonstop activity, Pastor Woody Morwood invites us to rediscover the heart of Christmas. Through a simple yet powerful fable about a man trying to guide birds to safety in a storm, he reveals why Jesus came close—why God stepped into our world, our struggles, and our humanity.
Drawing from John 1:1–14, Pastor Woody explores the radical truth that the eternal Creator became human so we could understand His love. He also challenges us to consider how many people in Jesus’ day missed His arrival—and how easily we can do the same amid the pressures and pace of modern life.
With the symbols of the Star, the Crown, and the Manger, this message reframes Christmas as God offering the greatest gift imaginable: Himself.
If you are longing for hope, peace, clarity, or simply a moment to breathe during this season, this message will help you slow down, pay attention, and make room for the love God offers.

December arrives like a whirlwind—busy schedules, pressure, expectations, and the feeling that peace is slipping through our fingers. But in this message, we’re reminded that the very first Christmas also began with uncertainty, fear, and a young girl in a forgotten town… until God stepped into the chaos.
Pastor Karl Romeus walks through Luke 1 and the story of Mary to show us a powerful truth:
👉 Peace is born where trust and surrender meet.

✨ Why peace begins with grace—not perfection or performance
✨ The difference between honest questions and distrust
✨ What it means to be still and trust God when life feels impossible
✨ How community, encouragement, and spiritual friendships strengthen our peace
✨ Why surrender isn’t defeat—it’s worship
From tangled Christmas lights to overwhelming schedules, from financial pressure to emotional exhaustion, this message reminds us that peace is not something we manufacture… it’s Someone who comes close.

As we enter Advent 2025, Pastor Kelly Roth invites us into a season of waiting, reflection, and hopeful anticipation. Advent reminds us that God meets us in the ordinary—just as He met Zechariah and Elizabeth in their everyday faithfulness—and invites us to anchor our hope not in outcomes, but in the unshakable promises of God.
In this Week 1 message on HOPE, Pastor Kelly unpacks Luke 1 and the story of Zechariah, Elizabeth, and the miracle that prepared the way for Jesus. Through Scripture, honest reflection, and practical insight, we explore what it means to live in the “now” and the “not yet”—to trust God in the waiting, to root our hope in His character, and to remember that He is with us, even when life feels uncertain.
Whether you’re entering this season with joy, disappointment, or longing, Advent invites all of us to slow down, refocus, and hold onto the hope that anchors our souls.
“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” —Hebrews 6:19

When Jesus said it was better that He go away so the Spirit could come, He was pointing to a life-changing truth — the Holy Spirit isn’t an optional extra in faith; He’s the very presence of God at work in us.
In this message, Pastor Aaron unpacks John 16 to reveal how the Holy Spirit convicts, guides, speaks, and glorifies Jesus. Through stories, Scripture, and imagery — from the dance of the Trinity to the metamorphosis of a butterfly — we’re invited to see how God’s Spirit transforms us from the inside out.
Whether you’ve misunderstood the Holy Spirit as distant or mysterious, this teaching offers clarity and hope:
👉 The Spirit’s work is not to draw attention to Himself, but to draw us closer to Christ.

Pastor Aaron McRae invites us to step into the story of God’s creation — not as distant observers, but as participants in His masterpiece.
From “In the beginning…” to “It was very good,” Scripture reveals a God who brings order out of chaos, light out of darkness, and life out of nothing. Humanity, created in His image, is the crown of creation — made for relationship, purpose, and worship.
But the story doesn’t stop there. Through rebellion came brokenness… and through covenant came redemption. From Genesis to Jesus, we discover that our true identity and purpose are not achieved but received — found only in our Creator.
The creation story invites us to discover our true identity and purpose by looking to our Creator, not ourselves, and seeking His will and not just our ways.

In this message, Pastor Aaron McRae teaches from Deuteronomy 6:4–9, reminding us that true devotion to God is revealed more by how we live than by what we say we believe. When our habits, routines, and rhythms are shaped by love for God, we reflect the Shema’s call to love Him with all our heart, soul, and strength.

Pastor Aaron McRae unpacks the heart of true Biblical worship. Worship isn’t just about singing songs on Sunday—it begins with surrender. Looking at Exodus 34, we discover that God reveals Himself as compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love, and faithful. When we see God for who He truly is, the only right response is worship—our whole lives offered in surrender.
From Moses’ bold prayer to see God’s glory, to John 3:16’s ultimate revelation of God’s love, we are reminded that worship is not performance, ritual, or appeasement—it is bowing our hearts, our wills, and our lives before a God who is worthy.
True worship flows from surrender. Will you give God more than a song—will you give Him your life?

We are wrapping up our Better Together series by exploring God’s design for rhythms, relationships, and true community. From Genesis to Revelation, God makes it clear—we were never meant to do life alone. 4️⃣ Multiplying Impact – raising disciples, leaders, and churches for lasting Kingdom impact (Ephesians 4:12-13).
As we look toward our 50th anniversary in 2029, we are committed to being a Christ-centered community marked by love, generosity, and transformation. Imagine the impact if each of us lives out this vision daily—together, we’ll see God move in ways we can’t yet imagine.

When life presses hard, will the Word of God be what flows out?

In today’s message, Pastor Aaron McRae unpacks one of the most misunderstood teachings of Jesus: “Do not judge.” As part of our journey through the Sermon on the Mount, we explore what true judgment looks like — discerning without condemning, examining our own hearts before pointing at others, and living out Jesus' call to love.
We discuss the danger of a judgmental spirit, the difference between discernment and condemnation, and how to follow the Golden Rule in a world quick to criticize. Ultimately, we are reminded that judgment belongs to God alone, and we are called to walk in humility, love, and truth.

Psalm 23 is a powerful journal entry by David that emphasizes themes of comfort, rest, and guidance provided by God, portrayed as a shepherd. Chris appreciates the Psalms for their stand-alone thoughts and feelings, likening them to personal journal entries of his own. Hear how this Psalm resonates Chris’s life experiences, particularly feelings of insecurity and the journey of personal growth. The passage explores the idea of rest in God, drawing parallels to Jesus’s invitation to the weary.
Chris poses three key questions regarding one's life journey:
What do you lack? - Emphasizing trust in God as a source of rest and assurance that believers "lack nothing" under His guidance.
Where is your life directing you? - Highlighting the importance of recognizing the narrow paths leading to Jesus, who offers abundant life despite life's challenges.
Are you being a participant or a spectator? - Encouraging engagement in one's relationship with God, living with purpose, and finding peace amid struggles.

God’s love and Upside-Down Kingdom were revealed when Jesus died for the sins of the world. The story ends without closure, forcing the us to grapple with this strange and scandalous claim. Will we run away like the disciples, or will we recognize the crucified Jesus as our King? Will we go forth and tell the good news? We have to answer these questions for ourselves, and that’s exactly what the Gospel of Mark is prompting us to do.

Mark 16, the final chapter of the gospel of Mark, focuses on the resurrection of Jesus, the most important event in the formation of faith in Jesus in the early church. The chapter begins with Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome going to anoint Jesus' body but being surprised by the empty tomb and encountering a young man who tells them that Jesus has risen.
The resurrection is a declaration and revelation, not just a historical fact. It signifies victory over sin and death, providing believers with ultimate hope and justification.
The chapter concludes with the women trembling and bewildered, highlighting human inadequacy and the need for God's work through Jesus. The disciples are given a divine mandate to go and make disciples of all nations, emphasizing living with purpose and spreading the message of the resurrection.

The Pentecost Sunday service in Mark Week 15 explored different perceptions of Jesus and His true identity. Key events in Mark 15, including Jesus' crucifixion and burial, are discussed. Noteworthy moments included darkness covering the land, Jesus' cry to the Father, the tearing of the temple curtain symbolizing access to God through Jesus, a Roman soldier acknowledging Jesus as the Son of God, and women witnessing Jesus' burial and discovering the empty tomb. These events challenge societal norms and highlight Jesus' universal significance beyond personal expectations.

Mark 14 illustrates moments leading to Jesus' crucifixion, emphasizing pure devotion and sacrificial worship. The chapter showcases a woman's extravagant act of anointing Jesus, contrasting it with Judas' betrayal, highlighting the importance of undivided devotion and sacrificial generosity. It prompts reflection on our roles in the narrative, urging us to prioritize Jesus above all else and embrace authentic worship.

Mark Chapter 13 is considered by some to be one of the most debated passages of Mark. He reminded us that in our crazy world, it is easy to be distracted by the news and everything circulating, and become anxious and fearful; however, we must BE ON GUARD, filtering everything through our prayers, the Word of God, waiting and worshipping.

In Mark 12, Jesus faces three questions meant to trap him - about paying taxes, marriage and resurrection, and the most important commandment. His responses emphasize giving to both God and Caesar, with a focus on love for God and neighbor as the greatest commandment. Jesus warns against hypocrisy, highlights the sacrificial love of a poor widow, and emphasizes the need for total commitment and surrender to God. The teaching underscores the importance of love as the guiding principle for discipleship, challenging followers to prioritize love over external displays of religiosity and trust in God above all else.

There is a pivotal moment in Mark Chapter 8 where Peter identifies Jesus as the Messiah, and the subsequent call to discipleship. The significance of recognizing Jesus for who He truly is, leads us to a two-step process: First, there is an invitation to salvation through acknowledging and responding to Jesus as Savior. Second involves a commitment to discipleship by denying oneself, taking up the cross, and following Jesus.
Take a listen as Pastor Aaron as he leads through core beliefs and actions required to truly understand and follow Jesus. There is an invitation to begin, or continue, a life journeying with Jesus.

Jesus, Filled With Compassion. There are so many stories, teachings and examples in the gospel of Mark concerning Jesus, that we get a pretty good idea of who He is, what He does, and what motivates Him. Also, there are plenty of stories and teachings in Mark that if we really pay attention should concern us about Jesus. He does not always do or say the expected thing. In fact, they very people that you would think would most appreciate Jesus, religious people, are often the ones that he offends

Your future depends on your belief in God's plan for you, leading to an unknown yet blessed destiny. All that is required of you, and of us, is faith. It's common to fear the future, but we must remember that we have a God who knows all. It’s amazing to see what God does when we empty ourselves before Him.

Who is God and why are there so many names to reference Him? In revealing the names of God, Scripture invites us to understand better the heart and ways of God. In many ways His names are how we know Him, which leads us to understand how He alone loves, sees, cares and guides this world and his people.

Jesus gives clear meaning and purpose in a simple statement that has the power to change our lives called the great commandment. In commanding us to love God and others, Jesus moves beyond our excuses & the superficial responses to address the heart of the issue. But… how do you ‘command’ love? Is that like commanding your children to eat their veggies? Jesus knows what’s best & invites to experience life to the full.

What is the Golden Rule of Christianity? Matthew 7: 12 says, "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." Jesus says following Him requires responses on our part of love, grace, and compassion in action. This is what marks Jesus’ kingdom work in our world. We are carriers of his kingdom, invited to live counter cultural ways.

Easter celebrates Jesus' resurrection from the grave, an event that changed the course of history and continues to change our lives today. His resurrection from the grave marks the defeating of sin and death, proving the weight of sin would no longer have authority over Him, or us. This Easter, join us as we celebrate the access God gives us to a new, fulfilling and meaningful life.
