Have you always been one to consider yourself as a seeker of truth and personal evolution? - As Humans, we have a consistent urge to revel in comfort, despite the fact that comfort is often the very thing holding us back from evolving. - The Transcending Man Podcast looks to cover topics and surround you with conversations that will assist in navigating the tricky terrains of life. - We upload a new show every Sunday; so be sure to keep a lookout!
Having clearly defined boundaries is paramount to protecting your self-identity.
Many of my younger years were spent appeasing to the opinions and behaviour of others, regardless of whether it was wrong or toxic.
This led to a life of conformity, in which I would silence my opinions and dislikes in hopes that it would make me more likeable, respected and accepted.
It didn't.
In this regard, my twenties have been a search for a backbone, and it's only recently that I've arrived at a place where I'm willing to reject bad behaviour from others while also having the humility to ask for my needs to be fulfilled.
In this episode I go over:
-My story around boundary setting (or lack thereof)
- What is a boundary?
- 3 Important things to keep in mind when embarking the journey of setting boundaries in your life.
I hope you enjoy.

It's easy to do the things that make us feel mentally well on the days we feel good, it's much harder to do those things on the down days.
The most important time to maintain our mental health is on the latter days.
In this podcast I give a 'Mental Health Checklist' to follow, especially on the days you're not feeling so great.
I hope you enjoy
Confidence is not a 'set of things' that you do.
Despite the myth that Hollywood often sells us, confidence is not a checklist that, once ticked off, you magically have it.
It is not a line that you say, or a gesture that you make; nor is it specific style or amazing talent.
More accurately, confidence is a unashamed revealing of ones true self, flaws quirks and all.
Some of the most confident and magnetic people I've ever met have been dungeons and dragons masters and gamers.
But why?
In this video I've broken down the 4 principles behind those people that seem to effortlessly exude confidence, in hopes that you can begin to embody them for yourself.
In this video I discuss:
What is confidence?
Misconceptions around confidence.
The difference between true confidence and false bravado.
The 4 principles of unshakable confidence.
I hope you enjoy.

Bad examples of physical aggression can lead many men to avert from the idea of it entirely.
Phrases such as 'I will never be like that' on the surface seem like a healthy rebellion against their toxic experience of masculinity, but deeper down this mindset ends up doing them more harm than good.
I am a prime example of this.
Years of cowering away from masculine conflict caused me to silence my opinions, avoid groups of men and freeze whenever I was dragged into physical altercations.
It wasn't until, by chance, my teenage friendship group became fanatics for Mixed Martial Arts shows (Back in their infancy), and decided to turn that recreational obsession into actually learning how to fight, that I really felt what it was like to own my masculine aggression in a healthy way.
I learned to walk taller, speak louder and actually voice my controversial opinions without as much fear of potential conflict with other guys.
Most men in the early stage of my story have create a narrative that it's better to be harmless than it is to be the reckless embodiment of the bad role models they have witnessed in their lives.
What they fail to realize that somewhere in the middle lies to perfect embodiment of a man.
A harmless man is not a good man.
A reckless man is not a strong man.
What makes a good man is he who has learnt ways to channel his anger and sharpen his physical tools in healthy environments around other likeminded men; and then, through choice, has learnt to control it.
A good man, therefore, is a dangerous man who has it under control.
In this episode I go into this evolution from my own experience.
I hope you enjoy.

When I tell people that I've spent multiple months of my life in meditation retreats where you meditate for 12 hours per day, are surrounded by 100 people yet can't make eye contact nor speak with them - I get looked at like I'm crazy.
A vipassana meditation retreat begins by handing in any distractions on day 0; this means books, journals, pens, paper and phones (yes, phones), in order to embark on 10 days of introspection.
For the next 10 days, carrying a bag of mixed emotions, you are taught to centre yourself between pain and pleasure, and become a non-reactionary witness to both.
In this episode I detail my experience at my first 10-day silent retreat, in which I talk about:
-----Show Notes-----
- The origin of Vipassana
- What is Vipassana?
- Some common, sometimes dangerous misconceptions around the Retreat
- My 3 biggest Takeaways from sitting in silence for 10 days.
I hope you enjoy!

Have you ever had a desire to extend yourself in public, but the fear of others judgment impairs you right at the last moment.
Maybe you feel inspired to extend a coffee date invitation to someone you find attractive but freeze at the last second; or maybe you've decided to start a new class but turn around and go back home before allowing yourself to even walk through the door.
The inability to free ourselves socially robs us of so many opportunities.
In this episode we talk about social freedom, here's what is discussed:
---As mentioned in the introduction; if you're aware of social freedom and want to skip to the drills immediately, they start from 5:40 onwards.---
Let me know how the drills go!
We have to empathize with ourselves as human beings; we live in a time where constant access to media gives us a skewed image of the trajectory towards success.
Consistently being exposed to the top 5% of humans leads us to believe that growth and fulfilment is only endowed upon the genetically gifted or the intellectual minority.
This just isn't the case.
Behind every story of success lies a non-linear path of struggle, turmoil and doubt. We're just becoming less and less exposed to it as algorithms become more advanced.
We need to take it upon ourselves to discontinue the delusion of perfectionism. We need to understand that success feels nice momentarily, but the real meat and potatoes of learning comes from the failures we encounter, paired with the self-awareness to make adjustments and improve.
At the end of this episode I give 3 tips that helped me embrace being a fool in my own life.
In this episode I make references to the book: Mindset by Dr Carol Dweck, which is in my eyes, the holy grail of self-improvement books.

From dying to thriving in one year.
As humans, we have the undeniable ability to walk paths filled with decisions that do us harm, the only trick is that we only fully understand the repercussions once it's too late. A smoker never really believes they can be the one to develop lung cancer until they do, the same as a drinker never expects the shutdown of their body until it actually happens.
In this episode, I have the pleasure of speak with Natalie. Natalie's story about going from drink related liver failure, to doctor's telling her there's a chance of mortality, all the way through to, not only her survival, but her thriving absolutely inspired me.
In this episode we cover topics such as:
The feelings and thought processes of a person who has been told they could die
Realizing that you are your only true saviour during times of challenge
How an experience like this can change a person
The outlook and mindset of a survivor
What changes Natalie made in her life after a brisk with death
Advice for people in less extreme situations, but are heading down the same road
The book referenced in the podcast is :Mindset by Dr Carol S. Dweck.

Win the morning, win the day - an old adage that passed in one ear and out the other far too many times before I realised it's undeniable truth.
If a morning is filled with bad food, snoozed alarms and a lack of intention, then it surely sets the trend for the rest of the day - and playing on the backfoot for a 'comeback' isn't an efficient way to expend energy.
If however the morning is injected with intention, nurturing of the gut and a few healthy discomforts, then we are preparing for a day we'll be proud of when hitting the pillow later that night.
In this episode I talk about some staples that have been in my morning routine for as long as I remember. It's funny, small actions compound, and as we grow familiar with them, we take them for granted or forget that we even do them (second nature), but upon reflection, these few consistent staples are what gave me clarity and structure during darker times of my life.

We all have trauma, we all feel shame about things about ourselves - and as a consequence we put up walls, set up barriers and put on masks to hide our true selves from the world.
In this episode we welcome Chris Hodder, a good friend of mine who it was an absolute pleasure to have a conversation with. Chris's story about navigating the world while hiding his sexuality is deeply sorrowing to hear upon first listening, but as he touches upon his journey of self discovery, self awareness and stepping into who he really was, it quickly becomes deeply touching and truly motivational.
In this episode we talk about:

In a day and age where the small device in our hands is paramount for quality of life purposes and interconnectivity; it can be easy to allow it to consume the surrounding richness that we have the opportunity to indulge in on a daily basis called reality.
A few months ago, I embarked on what, to me, seemed like an impossible voyage - to put down the phone for 30 days.
In this episode, I document the struggles and wins that I encountered along the way, and give you 3 reasons why I believe social media/dopamine detoxing can be a great way to channel energy into things that can be drowned out by the intensity and sheer volume of information we receive on a daily basis.
The book that I mention in the podcast is: Dopamine Detox by Nick Trenton.
I have no affiliation whatsoever here, but upon reading, I believe it is a great resource if you’d like to understand the phenomena on a deeper level.

Goals have become somewhat of a buzzword as of late. Contrary to popular belief, the setting of the goal isn't the tricky part, nor is it the hurdle in which we fail to cross to make it to the other side. In fact, it's everything that comes after that proves to be the hard part of the equation.
In this podcast, we discuss:
See you in the episode!
This podcast episode was recorded with a good friend of mine named Dimitri.
Dimi and I first met in a backpackers hostel dorm back in 2019, and at that moment I'm not sure either of us were aware of the paradoxical combination of volatility and sheer brilliance we were to experience over the following 6 months. A time of certain struggles, self-doubt and financial turmoil married with excellent roommates, alcohol and philosophical rants.... a sure-fire way to create deep lasting friendships.
In this episode we reflect on our backpacking experience in Australia; the deep and intimate friendships formed on such a venture; the grit that is built living in a permanent state of financial instability; the trials & tribulations we encountered; and the deep transformation that can take place when adopting the responsibility and independence that is required to move to the other side of the world.
Should everyone travel?
I hope you enjoy.
If a 10 day retreat where you vow complete silence, say goodbye to your phone and all other distractions, and agree to meditate for 8-10 hours per day sounds crazy to you, you can now imagine the looks I get when I tell people I've done it voluntarily.... 3 times.
In this episode, Frederic Bodin and I catch up for a chat, four years after we met at such a retreat in Herefordshire, England.
Frederic and I parted ways shortly after the retreats end. Since then he has delved deep into the world of sales, created businesses and he has now landed in a place where he teaches other men how to navigate the dating market with authenticity and presence.
In our chat, we discuss what Vipassana is, and more importantly what it isn't; common misconceptions around the course; how Fred and myself first found out about such an elusive event and what made us take the plunge and attend.
We also take a dive into modern dating: how modern men live quiet, desperate and unfulfilled romantic lives; and how women yearn to be truly seen by the men they're dating. Is cultivating presence the answer?
Hope you guys enjoy!
