Stephanie has disrupted the norm by choosing writing as her profession, despite people's discouragement. Stephanie used the discouragement of becoming a writer to become a writing coach and help others find joy in their own storytelling.  Stephanie believes that too often, generations are steered into professions that are profitable, but not necessarily purposeful or enjoyable. She chose not to have children, and those from her generation feel sorry for her, but she sees movements popping up that give women and non-binary people more choices.  She believes that everyone should be able to pursue their passions and take a stand for what they believe in.Conversation topics included:  how to pull stories out of people, particularly women, who have experienced trauma or personal loss.  howoften women are discouraged from sharing their stories due to fear of hurting someone or being judged.  hiding behind stories, suffering in silence and living in these stories without speaking out.  being mindful of the stories you share, careful with what is said and written, and to recognizing the importance of sharing one's story in order to help and heal.Listen in as Stephanie talks about the best way to get a story out.Guest links:https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephaniemojica/https://www.facebook.com/groups/995595120958774Timestamps0:00:03 "Exploring the Legacy Life Model with Stephanie Mohica: Overcoming Obstacles and Living Your Wildest Adventure" 0:03:37 Choosing to Live a Life of Purpose and Fulfillment 0:05:32 Pulling Stories Out of People 0:07:16 Releasing Embarrassment, Shame, and Guilt Through Storytelling 0:09:31 Financial Leadership Development Consultant 0:14:43 Storytelling: Finding Your Medium and Making a Point 0:16:18 Writing and Telling Traumatic Stories 0:21:29 Writing as Therapy 0:23:38 Unlocking the Power of Storytelling--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/karyn-buggs/message

This week our speaker, Nina Manolson, discusses how body peace is the opposite of the kind of aggressive conversations that many women have with themselves about food, where they judge themselves negatively and don't listen to the wisdom of their body. She explains that food doesn't have a moral value and that it is just food, and she recalls her own experience with Overeater's Anonymous at age 19. She encourages people to be kind to themselves and to recognize that food is just food.

Nina, a self-love and body positivity expert, explains how a conversation with her mother about a corn muffin she ate changed the way she looks at food. Her mother asked her what was in the muffin, and Nina realized she had been giving food the power to make her a good or bad person. She advises listeners to ask themselves if they are enjoying a food, and if they are eating it out of low blood sugar or because it is a forbidden food. Nina explains that unpacking our relationship with food can be a doorway to understanding our deeper issues, and that even if our relationship with our body is not positive, it is important to notice and understand our feelings around it.

Jordan and Paul Aspen are currently running a business together called Civilized Animal Productions. Jordan is passionate about this business because when she and Paul were dating, she was cautioned against dating another creative type. However, she has realized that passion is essential for a healthy relationship.

They started out as roommates who had a mutual friend. Despite not having an immediate attraction for one another, they built a friendship through their shared love of poetry and writing. They started reading Paradise Lost together, and from there their relationship blossomed. They found that they could be a powerful couple together and have a productive, explosive relationship that was directed outward, not toward each other. They found success in running a business together and have created a beautiful and balanced relationship.

Listen in as Jordan shares what caused tension between her and her husband and how they use that tension to create an explosive power partnership.

Highlights:

Instead of pulling away from the tension and then creating more tension because you're fighting against the tension, lean into the tension, because eventually, when the synergy happens, the tension is going to create an explosion.

Boundaries are necessary everywhere, and you need to know your personal boundaries, and we need to communicate, communicate them clearly, but also communicate them ongoing because boundaries can shift and change.

Her blog called Michelle's Mission, is where she writes about her experiences with having a disability, and she also enjoys photography.

Running a business, especially as a solo entrepreneur, can be hard and society tells us push through, keep going and huste hard to get to the top. All the meanwhile, we're ignoring the messages our body is sending.

Cindy Costly is a CEO leader who is talking about childhood trauma, at ages 6, 14 and 15, its effects, and our natural protection. She shares her own experiences and how her body has been a vessel to show how traumas can affect us. She also talks about how we can use our natural protection to help us heal and move forward. Additionally, she emphasizes the importance of taking care of ourselves, both mentally and physically. By understanding our traumas and their effects, we can begin to heal and live a more powerful life.

Cindy had lived with severe allergies since she was 15. She had allergic reactions to nearly all animals, foods, chemicals, and plant life. For 34 years she has lived with this diagnosis, relying on the support of her family and friends to help her get through doing everyday life stuff. She had come to terms with her allergies, accepting them as part of her life. She tried everything to heal, but eventually just settled into the fact that she had won the allergy lottery.

Just ready for her soul to dance, Cindy, found a functional Western medicine doctor who told her to try a desensitization technique. Through healers, she learned that every single reaction was caused by the trauma she'd experienced at ages 6, 14, and 15. Her body was trying to protect her from further trauma. Her body was actually trying to tell her something.

By speaking about her experiences, she hopes to provide insight and understanding to those who may be suffering in similar ways.

As a professional that writes 1-30 page business plans, encourages planning and equip women entrepreneurs to do the same, it kinda shook me when I had several plans fall apart in the first week of the new year.

Instead of throwing the whole year away (although it just started), taking it personal or changing my goals, I decided to lean in to the lessons.

In this episode, I share three lessons I took away from my well planned plans failing. Every failure isn't an opportunity to quit, it's an opportunity to gain wisdom, insight and data for how you will move forward.

I am grateful that each week, you continue to show up at the kitchen table, ready to join the conversation.

Nicole brought the heat in this episode. You'll hear that purging is more than getting rid of people and things. Sometimes purging is working on yourself, your beliefs and the silly rules you have in place that keep you stuck.

This episode helped me purge the belief that every episode has to be "perfectly edited" before being released. Well you'll hear so many hiccups and imperfections in this episode BUT, it's still an amazing episode.

Listen in for all the gems dropped about purging, the intangibles, on purpose!

Enjoy!

As always, I welcome and need your feedback for future episodes.

This episode is powerful. It's deep and it cuts to the core of some major reasons why women find it hard to ask for help.

It's ironic that often women find it easy to be the help but embarrassed and ashamed to ask for help; even if it means they'll grow to another level. Although this episode is about women, I know my men can pick up these gems too.

Listen in as Melonie, Camille and I share very personal stories about hurting, healing, being and asking for help.

Cliches are plentiful in our community and culture. How we internalize them and live them out is a real thing. In part 2 of our conversation we discuss parenting, singles and co-working relationships.

This episode is sure to break through some limiting beliefs, challenge your thinking, and propel you to come out of agreement with societal rules that hold you back.

Cliches block the flow of our own thoughts and ideas. While cliches are mostly known to be used in writing, for many of us they have shaped how we interact (or don't) with others.

In this episode, Patricia L., a doctoral candidate in Urban Education, and April G., an entrepreneur, share their experiences with cliches and the profound effects (both negative and positive) they had in their personal and professional relationships.

Get into this episode and reflect on the things that you've held on to, or still holding, that may not be serving you well in this season of your life.

The age old saying, you can take a horse to water but you can't make him drink, is appropriate for this episode.

Often we speak about not having access to things that would help us get to the next level. In this episode, Jamar candidly talks about how his family has access to a multi-millionaire yet they lack showing up.

I'm left to wonder, what's the real issue. Is it the access or is shame, guilt or embarrassment. Until the root of the issues are confronted, we will continue to find ourselves behind the eight ball.

Wealth is a choice that each of us make with every belief, every decision and every action or even inaction.

The words you say to yourself and the things other people say to you shape who you become. Our brain just associates words with incidents without making any distinctions between them.

Words have influence. When you use words to label, it's your obligation to ensure that the words are positive and make other people feel loved and valued.

Karyn discusses events in her own life that had a negative effect in her business. Recognize and acknowledge both the positive and negative remarks that have shaped you. In the end your words must be more powerful than those of others.

If you've been stuck in a rut, frustrated with situations in your life and/or business, this episode is for you. More than likely, words have contributed to your outcome.

Keep listening for more insight and opinions.

What you believe about yourself will determine how you live. Does the value of money match your beliefs?

  • What do you hold as true?
  • Does your behavior depend on money?
  • Do you use monetary rewards as a technique of reinforcement for good conduct?

To disclose your money patterns and the underlying reality of what you think, three fundamental questions must be asked.

Money enables us to be kind and generous with others. Similar to how a desire for money can make you stray from things that give you direction and purpose. True prosperity is so much more than financial success; it has nothing to do with money.

Keep listening for her opinions and thoughts.

Come back each week to learn additional tips for running a successful company.
