When you're grieving, so much of your energy goes into simply surviving—or caring for everyone else—that you can lose touch with yourself.

Then someone asks, "What do you need?" and your mind goes completely blank.

In this episode, we're talking about why that happens and one simple exercise that can begin reconnecting you with yourself.

I'll encourage you to make a list of 20 small things you genuinely enjoy—from ice in your water, a favorite coffee, fresh flowers, a walk outside, getting your nails done, reading a good book, or wandering through your favorite store. None of these have to be big or expensive. The goal is simply to remember what brings you comfort and joy.

As you begin noticing these little things, you'll not only care for yourself better—you'll also be able to communicate your needs when the people who love you ask how they can help.

If you've forgotten what makes you feel like you, this episode is for you.

Have you ever finally found the courage to share your grief, only to walk away feeling even more alone?

In this episode, we're talking about the pain of opening your heart and receiving responses that minimize, dismiss, or try to fix your grief. We'll explore why these interactions hurt so deeply, why most people aren't trying to be hurtful, and how to discern who is safe to share your grief with. Most importantly, we'll remember that Jesus understands what it feels like to suffer—and He never turns away from your pain.

The Fourth of July can bring unexpected waves of grief. Barbecues, fireworks, family gatherings, empty chairs, and traditions can all remind you of the person you love.

Instead of hoping you'll "get through it," what if you went into the holiday with a plan?

In this episode, I share why having a grief plan can lower anxiety, help you feel more in control, and give yourself permission to change course when emotions become overwhelming. I'll walk you through my own three-step approach:

Option A: If you're feeling emotionally and physically well enough to participate.

Option B: If grief begins to feel heavy and you need to make adjustments.

Option C: If you realize you simply need to step away and care for yourself.

There is no right or wrong way to grieve. There is only the invitation to listen to what your heart needs.

If you're looking for additional support throughout the summer, I also share my video series, Grief Doesn't Take the Summer Off, designed to help you navigate vacations, family gatherings, holidays, and all the unique challenges that summer can bring while grieving.

You don't have to figure this out alone.

I love you, and we'll take the next steps together.

Have you ever snapped at someone, avoided a difficult conversation, shut down completely, people-pleased to keep the peace, or tried to fix everyone's problems while carrying your own grief?

These aren't character flaws—they may be nervous system responses.

In this episode, we're talking about the five common survival responses that often show up during grief: fight, flight, freeze, fawn, and fix. When loss overwhelms us, our nervous system can move into protection mode without us even realizing it. The result is behavior that may leave us feeling confused, frustrated, or disconnected from ourselves and others.

You'll learn how to recognize these responses in your own grief journey, why they happen, and practical ways to begin responding with greater awareness rather than simply reacting on autopilot.

Healing starts with noticing. When you understand what your nervous system is trying to do, you can begin making choices that align with who you want to be, even in the midst of deep grief.

Grief can uncover deep wounds — not only from loss itself, but from the people who hurt, abandoned, judged, or failed us during our darkest moments. And sometimes the hardest person to forgive is ourselves.

In this episode, we talk honestly about forgiveness in grief: the resentment we carry, the guilt we replay, and the exhaustion that comes from holding onto anger. Forgiveness does not mean pretending the hurt did not happen, excusing painful behavior, or instantly feeling peace. It is often a slow and painful surrender we bring to God again and again.

We'll discuss:

  • The anger that surfaces during grief
  • How relationships can change after loss
  • Forgiving people who said hurtful things or disappeared
  • Self-forgiveness for regrets, mistakes, or things left unsaid
  • Bringing bitterness, shame, and pain honestly before God

If you are struggling with resentment, guilt, or the weight of unresolved pain, this episode is a reminder that forgiveness is a journey — and healing often begins with honesty.

This episode offers practical encouragement, validation, and faith-filled reminders that you are not "failing" at grief when certain days feel harder than others. Your body and soul are both carrying pain, and both deserve compassion.

We'll also talk about:

  • Why grief can feel amplified during your cycle
  • Practical ways to care for yourself during these harder days
  • Giving yourself permission to slow down without shame

In this episode, we talk honestly about the loneliness that often comes with grief — the friendships that change, the silence from others, the feeling that life keeps moving while your heart is still carrying loss.

We also talk about how Jesus meets us in loneliness, why isolation can deepen grief, and practical ways to slowly reconnect without pretending you are okay. If you have felt forgotten, emotionally exhausted, or alone in your suffering, this episode is for you.

Watching your loved one slowly fade away over time is it's own sort of torture. This is true with cancer. This is especially true with diseases such as Alzheimers, Parkinson's, ALS, and Huntington's disease.

This episode I specifically talk about Alzheimers because of the way the disease progresses. Your loved one can forget who you are years before they die. You want their suffering to stop. You want your suffering to stop. Then you feel guilty because you don't want them to die and can't believe you thought that.

This a natural response. Thinking this doesn't not make you a horrible person. In fact, I have found that often the opposite is true. You love so deeply and that makes you a wonderful, beautiful person. Book a free call to talk through this pain with someone who understands.

We have all thought this at one time or another. When the nursing profession is so short staffed, we start to think that our employer needs us, more than we need them. That may be statistically true. However, the way we show up when we start to think this way, is usually not very kind or nice.

This episode I talk through a bridge thought. How to get from the thought you are currently having to one that makes you feel better. A thought can be the difference between dreading going to work every day and loving your job. A thought can be the difference between biting your tongue, or lashing out at someone.

Changing a thought can be so easy, and yet so difficult at the same time. A coach is the person who helps walk you through this process. You are able to more clearly discern if you are to stay in this job or follow a calling to another one.

It's that you honestly just can't see the other side of it.

There is a cost to everything. Especially when it comes to weight loss we want to quit. We don't like the cost that it comes with. We want it to be easy and simple. It can be easy and simple but it also comes at a cost. The cost might be not eating gummy worms and ice cream at 10 pm. The cost might be saying no to dessert when you go out with your friends.

Our brain likes to tell us that this is not worth it. First you need to see the cost and decided if it is worth it to you. If the outcome is going to be worth the cost, then go for it. If you decide the cost isn't worth it now or ever, then don't do it.

This episode I walk you through the process of first figuring out the cost. Then you get to decide if it's worth it or not.

You want to help people. So you say yes to many tasks. Then those tasks take up more and more of your time. So you stress out because you are just tapped out. You either run around in frantic, nervous energy, trying to get everything done. Or you completely check out and scroll on your phone and do things that are completely unrelated to the things you need to get done. The whole time you tell yourself 'you shouldn't be doing this', 'you really should be doing x.'

This episode I show you how of course this is how you respond. It's totally normal. You also learn steps on how to get out of those stress responses and actually get things done, while showing up with more peace and calm.

This episode I talk about how most of us have the victim mentality. We give all of our power to others when we place ourselves as the victim. This places us in the belief that since we are a victim, everything is out of our control. Therefore, this can happen to us at any job, or any circumstance in life. We have the belief that there are bad nurses and bad supervisors and we must save patients from them. This feels so heavy and hopeless. What if you stopped believing that?

This episode I talk about what communication is. It's such a broad term. We think that every one has the same view of the world that we do. I think that when we say "I am working hard" that everyone should know what that means. However, that phrase means something different to every person on the planet. Is it possible that we don't communicate as well as we think we do? What do we do about that?

This episode I talk about love. Often our definition of love is based off our feelings that we have about something. Our feelings change over time and sometimes moment to moment. When are feelings change then we believe that is just how it is. That we are now out of love with something or someone.

Is that true though? If our thoughts create our feelings, can't we just change our thought to create the feeling we want? Do we want to do this? Most people have heard that love is a choice. It is, but what happens when it is not an easy choice for us to make?
