McCluer head football coach Howard Brown joins Luke Moehle to discuss the Comets week 1 win. The Comets started out hot against cross-town rival McCluer North, scoring 30 points in the first quarter of play. They improve to 1-0 after defeating the Stars 60-18.
The McCluer Comets ended their season with a 38-34 loss on Friday night. The Comets had an unconventional week as they were scheduled to play at home against McCluer North, but ended up making the 2-hour trip to Carterville. The Comets finish the modified season 3-2.
The McCluer Comets took on Ritenour on Friday night. The Comets found themselves down 13-0 early, but battled back to take a 14-13 lead. The Huskies stayed in the game until David Collins secured a game sealing pick six, making the McCluer lead 12 points with under 6 minutes to play. The Comet offense went on to score one more time, ultimately winning by a score of 50-32. McCluer (3-1) will play its final game of the season next week vs. McCluer North.
The Comets took on the Hazelwood Central Hawks on Saturday afternoon. McCluer was able to complete the late comeback and win by a score of 32-27. Tyreek Smith sealed the win with a sack in the last minute of play. The Comets record moves to 2-1 as they look ahead to playing Ritenour on Friday night.
The Comets took on the Pattonville Pirates on Friday night in the team's season opener. McCluer took a 14-9 lead to the lockeroom at halftime, but were unable to pull out the victory, losing by a score of 23-20.
