This episode is about memory (guiding light, stars, painted skies), grief (sun set before rising, fractured spirit) and reclamation (dawn, seeds of hope, finding God). The poem upon which this episode is based is an elegy of love that moves from remembrance → devastating loss → reconstruction. It is emotionally transparent and does not rely on ambiguity; In this case my memories of my mother are associated with illumination, guidance, beauty and finding a sanctuary – a safe place.

In this episode we are introducing a new series that we are calling "LyfStory Presents". We will have Tapiwa Gwenlisa Mushonga as a constant guest and others who will show up to discuss matters important for people living with albinism.
The poem Blue Roses was inspired after the recent school shooting in Uvalde Texas. Terrible tragedies like this have become an all too often occurrence in the United States. As a parent I am concerned that we are failing our children. It is our responsibility to secure their safe passage to adulthood. we must do better.
Some people say Father or Dad, others say Papa, Pops, Padre, Baa, Appa, Opa or Abba. In our house it is Baba. In today's special Father's Day episode we talk all about Godwill, our children's Baba.

How…do we stand back
and watch them suffer
arms over their heads
waiting for the bullets to fall
and pierce their skin
stained dark as the hardened ground

that will stain the earth

All that my father asked from me was some of that unconditional love. My self-righteousness cost me a lot of good memories over the years. I could have forgiven and loved my father. Love would have taught us to heal our wounds. I hope that nothing in this life should cause my own sons and my daughter to despise me the way I dealt with my father. I cannot imagine living my life without their love. I know now that a good parent never forgets to love a child, even when a foolish child can justify not loving their parent.
In this episode we talk about one of my memories of my father and how that one moment has influenced many aspects of my life. I want to remember him better than I do, I miss him a lot and I wish he had lived long enough to know his grand children and their love for him.

Gwen is widely known as an advocate for people living with albinism in her native Zimbabwe and around the world.
