Co-hosts Erika Murrietta and Ziva Maples dive deep into the life of Lucille Ball, exploring many facets of her life. They take an episode by episode look at some of her most famous shows Lucille Ball was part of like I Love Lucy, The Lucy Show, and Here’s Lucy. They will also take a closer look at some of Lucy’s movies, explore the creation and works of Desilu productions and learn more about Lucy’s costars throughout her long career spanning decades!
This week we had the pleasure of speaking with the authors of ‘Bob Crane: The Definitive Biography’, Carol M. Ford and Linda Groundwater. As a follow-up to our podcast episode last summer about Bob Crane, we finally connected with these fabulous ladies!
To say this is an extensive look at the life, legacy and mysterious death of Bob Crane is an understatement.
They tell us of the 12-year journey they were on to finally have the book published-
which included: countless hours, extensive interviews (over 200!) and an obvious labor of love, this was a fun and educational conversation.

This page is one of the sources we utilize for our episode recaps and is usually one of the top search results on Google when looking for anything 'I Love Lucy' or just Lucille Ball-related.
Chatting with Michael was such a delight as he is a theatre kid first, he appreciates the brilliance, timing, and dedication Lucy and the entire crew put into every 'I Love Lucy' episode.
We chat about what he did (and currently still does) in theatre, his love of Lucille Ball, and how his ever-growing page began.

This week we really did 'Have a Ball'!! We had a wonderful chat with Jamestown native, author Wendy Loggia (VP/Sr. Exec Editor Random House). We discussed her love for Lucy, her amazing work as both an editor and author and of course her latest book, 'Lucille Ball' which is part of 'The Golden Book Biography' collection.
She tells us of a chance meeting with a man who had a very close connection with Lucille's childhood home and her mom seeing Lucy and her mother Dede at Bigelow's department store. We also discuss some of her future projects, such as the upcoming Taylor Swift book that is also part of 'The Golden Book Biography' collection.
All around a fun conversation and we are thankful books are still being written about Lucy and Desi and being introduced to new generations.

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to this week’s episode of ‘Having A Ball Podcast’. This week we discuss season 2 episode 4 "The Handcuffs". When Lucy feels neglected by Ricky who is busy with work, she handcuffs herself to him. What she thought was a trick pair of handcuffs from Fred's magic act turns out to be a real pair of handcuffs from the Civil War! The physical comedy in this episode is just gold, and we have such a fun time talking about the iconic bedroom scene where Lucy is confident she can make it so they can sleep on the side of the bed they are accustomed to.
We also discuss Will Wright who plays Mr. Walters, the distance between Manhattan and Yonkers and the strange way that Ricky wakes up from his nap!

Final episode of the season!
This week’s recap is on season 1, episode 35 - ‘Ricky Asks for a Raise’! This is the last episode of season 1 and we have a great time talking about Lucy's scheme to get Ricky rehired at the Tropicana. We see the Littlefields again, the second and last time we see them. We discuss Hal King, the show’s make-up artist and brother-in-law of Max Factor. We also point out all the nods to the cast and crew with the various character names.

We finally review and share our opinions and thoughts on the much anticipated and beautifully directed documentary on Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, 'Lucy and Desi' from Amy Poehler currently streaming on Amazon Prime. The film certainly feels like a modern version of the "Lucy and Desi: A Home Movie" from the early 90's produced by Lucie Arnaz.
