We see Jesus in the upper room begin to impart his final words to his disciples leading up to the cross. Jesus shares with us what it means to trust in him even in times of trouble.
We have come to the story of Lazarus. In this story from John we see with intentionality how Jesus uses the suffering of his followers to bring them to trust him more, but not without sharing in their pain himself.
Aaron brings us into the second half of chapter 10 where Jesus calls himself the Good Shepherd. We learn what it means for us that Jesus is committed to his sheep, united to his sheep, and anointed as the only Good Shepherd.
In John 10, Jesus calls himself both the door and the good shepherd. Aaron spends this week unpacking what it means that Jesus is the door or gatekeeper of the sheep and why he takes the shepherding of his people so seriously.
Jesus is confronted by the Pharisees and their pride is revealed when Jesus declares himself to be the "light of the world". Aaron warns us of three problems of pride that the truth of who Jesus is reveals.
Jesus begins to question the motives of the crowd that is following him. We learn that Jesus is the only true satisfaction we have to live on. Not bread, but the very presence and fullness of God.
