Brian Nichols shares his story of hope with us in this episode. Going from living in addiction to making choices to change his life, he lost half his body weight and is now empowering all who encounter him to be their best selves. Food addiction isn't necessarily one that gets much publicity... but that doesn't make it any less of a real addiction! Addiction comes in all forms and is not limited to the "mainstream" substances we might think of when we use the term. Brian is the host of The Brian Nichols Show and serves as a Director of Sales Development in the greater telecommunications/cybersecurity industry. Having spent years working with C-Level executives to help them "future-proof" their company's infrastructure for an uncertain future, Brian is taking that industry experiencing and bringing it to the liberty movement. Jamie (notice the spelling - not the same as Jaime, Kevin's wife.) is an amazing and dynamic woman that is closely associated with the hosts. She's worked alongside Kevin and Jaime and has a great relationship with the entire family. In this episode, Jamie gives us detailed insights into her childhood trauma and the results of the subconscious wounds that led her into sexual addiction. Jamie is very honest and open about her former addictive state and her healing story. She's also thankful for connecting with Christians that were willing to help her and encourage a deeper faith as she committed to a better life. Today, Jamie is an online influencer, coach, and business manager. With all she's been through and corrected about her life, she offers help to others in their struggle.
Mark King is one person that God used to have a positive impact on Kevin and Jaime's healing journey. Mark initially had a career in sales for the radio industry, but for the last thirty years, he's been coaching business people to serve their business, clients, and others around them in love. How does he suggest we do that? By being our best selves! Love isn't a word used often in business, but Mark provides details about entering love's "flow" where we can grow with less effort than when we're trapped by fear. Mark dives into the DISC personality profile extensively. DISC has many implementations, but the terms you'll hear us use in this podcast related to D.I.S.C are below: D= Driver (commonly Dominant) I = Expressive (commonly Influence) S = Amiable (commonly Steadiness) C = Analytical (commonly Compliance) You'll hear from Mark again in future episodes where we will dive into other topics. You can find Mark at www.outwardfocus.com. E-mail us at info@businessaddictspodcast.com with questions, or if you'd like to support our mission.
Our first interview of a couple for the podcast is a hit! Gary and Kristy have two children and a few businesses. A lot has changed since Gary quit alcohol cold-turkey and committed to taking his life back. Gary and Kristy take us back through the process. Not only has this story resulted in a beautiful family, but we celebrate Gary's acknowledgment of how God helped him to victory! One additional subject we touch on in this episode is anxiety, Gary provides a tour of his journey from a place of anxiety to peaceful sobriety. You'll witness his energy and passion for life today and hopefully, this encourages anyone who is trapped in the anxieties of life to address them and work towards freedom to live powerfully as your true self!
Our mission is to provide stories, tools, and resources to encourage those involved with current addictions to accelerate the healing process. In this episode, Kevin interviews Jaime about the enabler side of the addiction relationship. As we focus on the difference in Jaime's approach to first coping with and coddling the addict - to eventually lacking trust and setting emotional boundaries to protect her interests - notice how the change in tactics yielded different results. Jaime also uncovers some of her struggles in the process, perhaps most powerfully, provides feedback about the difference in Kevin since he's completed his healing journey.
Our mission is to provide stories, tools, and resources to encourage those involved with current addictions to accelerate their healing process. In this episode Jaime interviews Kevin to provide transparency into the host's addiction story. Kevin's story is one of a Christian who wasn't believing. Yes, there were attempts at freedom. Yes, there was forgiveness and help in the struggle, but justification and lies were prominent in the process also. Note from Kevin: My greatest thankfulness is for the time in our marriage when Jaime said "enough". It took her setting emotional boundaries and respecting herself to wake me up. Prior to that time frame (approx. 13 years into our marriage) I was able to exist with a combination of hiding and convincing myself that I was committed to change. I became good at convincing Jaime of the same, because I could convince myself. We addicts chose healing when we've exhausted our options and the good graces of those around us. Even addicts that quit "cold turkey" say they do so after they consider the risks of potential loss in the near future.
Welcome to the Business Addicts podcast, where the stakes are high, talk is cheap, and results are on the other side of commitment. Hosted by a couple affected by addition - former addict, Kevin (husband), and Jaime (wife). We uncover addicts’ mindsets, showing that the talents you've created in your struggle will be the superpowers you leverage to heal your deepest wound. Listen to former addicts’ share stories of how they flipped the switch – including insights into how much we can believe in ourselves.
