In this episode, I cover the importance of creating SMART goals and how they are practical tools for bringing more confidence around action steps defined as part of the goal-setting process. Effective goal-setting happens when we align with the results we want to create. The three questions above are pertinent to defining the goals and outcomes we want to create. It’s not enough to write down our goals and review them twice a year. We need to make sure we are aligned emotionally with them.

The first question is what we all start with, defining the results we want in our relationships, careers, businesses and wellness. Once our results are clearly defined and we have some way to measure that we have accomplished them. We can then ask ourselves how we will feel once we have achieved our set goals? Answering this question creates awareness of the emotional lived experience of achieving the goal, what it means to us and why we want it.

Lastly, the question who do you need to be to achieve the results you want? Helps us draw out why the goal is important to us and the values we hold dear, which can also be used as a source of motivation that will help fuel the action we need to take to create the results we want.
