This week, continuing our series titled "Wisdom Builds the House", we surveyed the book of Proverbs, exploring how we can apply wisdom in our use of spiritual gifts. We read in Proverbs 1:7 that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction". "Fear" in this context would be best understood as deep respect and awe. Respecting God more than we respect our own opinion is a great first step when operating in the gifts! We also read Proverbs 3:5 which says "trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding". Here we are encouraged to submit all our thinking to God. We can't assume that we have it all figured out (1 Corinthians 13:9 again). We need to be prepared to press "pause" and take a moment to check-in with the Holy Spirit, before speaking or acting.
Proverbs 1 through to 8 introduces us to two voices: wisdom and folly. When we get to Proverbs 9 we are presented with a choice, two houses: the house of wisdom, and the house of folly. Which one will we choose?
Have you ever had an “if only” moment? A moment when you wished for circumstances to be difference, for life to be difference?
This week we had special guest Stacey Hillier from Neuma Church in Melbourne join us. The question we need to ask ourselves is, how do we respond to the presence of Jesus?
Luke 4:16-21 is what interpreters call 'Jesus’ Inaugural Sermon'. This was, and is, his purpose and His Messianic Mission. Jesus was announcing what the kingdom of God would be about and would look like.
This week, continuing our series titled "Things Jesus Did", we explored Luke 5:27-32, where Jesus is criticised by the Pharisees for eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners. We examined what it meant (at that time and in that context) to be called a "sinner", why the Tax Collectors were included as sinners, and why the Pharisees were upset with Jesus associating with such people.
What we learn from the gospels is that healing is central to Jesus’ mission, healing is central to His gospel, healing is central to His kingdom. Healing is not a secondary issue, it is primary. The word salvation in the original Greek language is the word sozo. It refers specifically to the forgiveness of sin, the healing of disease and the deliverance from torment. Healing is our inheritance just as much as forgiveness is.
Chances are all of us have personally experienced what it is like to be at the mercy of nature. Nature is a powerful and sometimes devastating force. One of the stories we are more familiar with in scripture puts Jesus and his disciples face to face with the force of nature.
We are all created for, and wired for, connection. One way in which we find connection is through physical touch. Touch is essential for human connection, bonding and health. Simply holding hands signals to another “I am with you”. Jesus Christ clothed Himself in humanity, He offered Himself as a bridge for connection between Heaven and Earth.
Prayer is not an obligation; Prayer is an invitation. All around us, if we are paying attention, the beautiful and broken things in our world are personal invitations into prayer. We believe in prayer, but we struggle to turn that belief into a rhythm. A rhythm we see active in Jesus when Luke tells us that “Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed”.
Jesus is confronted by the devil after being led by the Spirit into the wilderness to complete a 40 day fast. The devil's first challenge ("If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread") was intended to tempt Jesus to prove his divine status by exercising supernatural power.
Jesus had so much to say about the words we speak, as does all of scripture. First…
Words are an overflow! Jesus said that “the mouth speaks what the heart is full of…” .
Words are a substance! “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.”
Words need to be weighed!
We live in a culture and time that would encourage us to unleash our words onto people and spaces with us much passion and fury as we deem necessary. However Jesus (John 14:10, John 6:63) demonstrates a life, a mouth, submitted to His Father. If Jesus weighed His words, how much more should we!?
What comes to mind when you hear the word “eternity”. If you really want to know what eternity is all about you have to take note of what Jesus says. In Mark 10 with the story of the rich young ruler we learn that eternal life, the Kingdom of God, and salvation are 3 different ways of saying the same thing. Meaning the word eternity doesn’t describe a place, a destination, it describes a LIFE.
In Matthew 6:25, Jesus says these words “Do not worry” and for most of us, our first reaction to this thing that Jesus said would be something along the lines of “impossible” or “unrealistic”. Living without worry sounds, to most of us, as impossible as living without breathing. Jesus wants to lead us from worry into wisdom.
As Ben Green kicks off our Things Jesus Said series, he digs into Jesus' parables.
God delights to reveal more to the hungry. This was the purpose of parables - to conceal the kingdom from those who misunderstood it AND did not want to understand. But to those who were hungry and seeking, the parables revealed the nature of the kingdom.
This week Ps Aaron wraps up our Ruin to Redemption series looking at Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son. We learn about the culture of the father’s house as he welcomes, forgives and restores his lost son, celebrating his homecoming with a feast. The culture of our Father’s house is one we are called to replicate as we make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit (Ephesians 4:3).
Within each and everyone one of us, there is a deep desire to find home: a longing for far more than a roof and four walls. The story of the cross redeeming people is only part of the story: God's mission in this world is to redeem home, to make the world God’s “home” and the home of all God’s creation. God’s greatest desire is that He would be present among us, and present within each person.
This week we examined the lives of Mary Magdalene, Mary of Bethany and Mary, the mother of Jesus. These women were all most likely present at the crucifixion of Jesus. Mary Magdalene being one of the women at the empty tomb and possibly the first to meet the risen Christ.
Ps Shaun Kicks off our 'Ruin to Redemption' series by looking at the life of Peter, following the many highs and lows of his journey. We see the faithfulness and grace of God, even after Peters failings, and what happens when Peter aligns himself with the will of God.
We conclude our vision series by reminding ourselves of our spiritual heritage as a church, and looking at the role our own hearts play in stewarding renewal and revival.
Jesus said in John 15 "I no longer call you servants, I call you friends". Friendship with Jesus is an invitation open to us all, yet few make the choice to push past familiarity, and surface level relationship, to experience intimate friendship with Him. It's in the place of intimate friendship that we are best positioned to not just receive from Jesus, but to partner with Him in His plans and purposes for our lives and for the lives of others.
This week we continue our vision series focusing in on how we can live our lives ordered around 'Jesus at the Centre'. As followers of Jesus we may find it easy to hold on to our belief in Jesus, but keeping Him at the centre of our lives is anything but easy. For that to happen, we have to let go of a lot of things and step into a lifestyle of repentance and re-visioning. Although it is a challenge, the promise is that it will release Times of Refreshing into our lives.
We kick off our vision series “Times of Refreshing”, and introduce what we believe God is calling us into as a church community. We believe that God is getting ready to breathe upon all that He has been building; that there is a time of refreshing being released, and rivers of healing for the nations. Are you ready?
Jesus said in John 5:17 "My Father is always at work to this very day, and I too am working". God is always at work in our world and we have the honour of being invited into His purposes. God's purpose for our life isn't something we strive for or chase after; purpose is unlocked through intimacy with the Father: Purpose flows.
We kick off our 21 Days of Love & Liturgy series learning how we can become more aware of God’s presence in our lives. Through the presence of the Holy Spirit, Jesus is constantly and fully present with us and with the presence of Jesus comes the presence of a completely different reality, the kingdom of God. How can we learn to be more aware of His presence so that we can live out of the resources of heaven?
We continue our Summer Series by asking the question, "What are you waiting for?". In Psalm 40 we learn from King David, who was a master at waiting on the Lord. Waiting on the Lord is worship, it is prayer, and in the place of waiting we exchange our weakness for His strength. No matter what challenges 2023 has for you, the key to overcoming will be in learning to wait on the Lord.
Guest speaker, Ps Wayne Williamson from Gateway Church, Newcastle, encourages us to allow love to move beyond knowledge to a lived reality. To do that, we have to learn and adjust to the pace and rhythm of love.
A brief excursion through 1 Cor 12-14 reveals the purpose and practice of the gift of prophecy, and how we are to “eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.”.
In today's message, Ben explores John 4 and the story of the royal official who came to Jesus seeking healing for his dying son. His obedience to Jesus' command, "Go...your son will live", demonstrates the type of faith which we are all called to - faith not on the basis of seeing something before believing, but rooted in the trustworthy character and words of God.
Ps Aaron wraps up our Christmas series revealing what it means that Jesus - The Light of The World, God with us has come.
We kick off our Christmas series, “This Glorious Light”, and explore the nature of Gods light at work in our world to bring beauty and revelation.
We continue our Love and Liturgy series this week, recapping the Grace Practices of Disengagement. In particular, the practice of Silence and Solitude is key to slowing down in our hurried world, to make external and internal space to become aware of who God is and all that He wants to be for us.
We continue our Love & Liturgy series this week looking at the question of what discipleship and formation actually are? In the gospel of John, Jesus asks, "What do you want?" or What do you desire. This points to a fundamental truth that we must come to understand if we are to embrace the journey of discipleship and formation... You Are What You Love.
We kick off our new series "Love & Liturgy" answering the question of why discipleship and formation are so important for us as a church. Jesus' first call to His church is to "come to Him", so that we can be "made into fishers of men". If we skip this step of discipleship and formation, we run the risk of pursuing the mission of Jesus through our default framework that we have inherited from secular culture.
This week Ps Peter McHugh from Stairway Church speaks to us about Friendship with God. Looking at Genesis 1 and 3 we ask ourselves: Are we living from a paradigm of 'Sin Consciousness' where relationships, with God and People, are built on performance, judgement, and condemnation? Or are we living from a paradigm of 'God Consciousness', where relationships are built on Grace, Surrender and Gratitude?
We kick off our new series, "Revival Looks Like Family" with a prophetic invitation, "It's time to get your breath back". We believe that Jesus is wanting to release the breath of His Spirit upon us to bring us to new levels of peace, purpose and power!!
In this, our last message in our 'For His Glory' series, we see that, as a People of Glory prepare a Place for His Glory, His glorious purpose will be released across the earth. Ps Aaron looks at the importance of imagination when it comes to understanding the gospel message, and how we as a people live on mission for His glorious purpose.
We continue our 'Prepare the Way' series looking at our call to prepare a Place for His Glory. The call to build a place, is a call to build an altar. While many see the place we meet as just a building, we know that it is much more than that: It is an altar built upon our worship, our unity, our boldness and our passion.
Ps Aaron kicks off our 'Prepare the Way' series. We are called to be a people of glory; To be a people who have laid down their own way of doing things and who, through humility, live out of Jesus’ vision of life and Kingdom. A people who see the world as God sees the world; a world filled with glory that is waiting to be revealed.
When we examine the parables of the hidden treasure and the pearl, we see that the price is not the cost, and the cost is always "all you have”.
We kick off our new series "Parables". Jesus' parables are illustrations of wisdom, windows into the Kingdom of God, and a way of teaching to reimagine the Kingdom of God in a whole new way. In the parables of The Mustard Seed, and Leaven, we learn from Jesus that the Kingdom of God is not what you're expecting. It's different: It's better, It’s more beautiful… but it's different.
This week, off the back of our Young and New Adults Revivalist Conference, Guest Speaker Ps Russel Evans speaks into Having an Enlargement Mentality: Not settling for what has been, but instead having our Vision, Expectation and Capacity stretched to accomodate what God has planned for us.
This week Caitlin continues our 'Seek First' Series. We look at the prayer for Spiritual Wisdom Paul Prayed in Ephesians 1, which leads us into a deeper knowing of Him. Through the knowing of Him we are lead into Hope, and the Resurrection Power that He has made available to us.
Continuing our series “Seek First”, this message explores what the Bible says about praying for wisdom, and the benefits that flow from a life steeped in wisdom.
Ps Kristen continues our 'Seek First' series as we look at Paul’s prayer for the church in Colossians, and how perseverance in prayer leads us to a place of maturity and fruitfulness
This week in our series "Seek First" we look at the life of Jacob, and the two prayers he prayed that opened up the door for change and transformation in his life. We learn from Jacob that prayer is the place where we throw off the identity that the world would gave us, and receive our name from God as we come under His authority and take on His nature.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, the Apostle Paul teaches us that when our intercession and petition are accompanied by rejoicing and thanksgiving, our prayers are in alignment with God’s will. Our ability to rejoice is dependant on a revelation of the beauty of Christ.
We kick off our new series "Seek First" looking at Pentecost and what it teaches us about prayer.
Biblical Hospitality requires an invitational outlook, free of judgement and rich in mercy, humility and love.
In 1 Peter 3 we are instructed to always be ready and prepared to give an answer for the hope that we have. But how do we do this? How do we have conversations with our neighbours that dig deeper than just pleasantries and generic topics such as the weather? And how do we do this in a world that is so often hostile towards the ways of Jesus and His Kingdom?
Scripture isn't silent on these issues. We can look at the life of Jesus, Paul & Peter to learn the art of conversation, on how to live with a provocative hope and see those in our world discipled in the gospel.
In order to be neighbours, and effective ministers of reconciliation to our world, we have to learn to reconcile the gap between our beliefs and our behaviours; learning to live out of all that Christ has established in our heart. We do this by engaging in grace practices that allow God's transformational power to be at work in our life and God's missional power to be at work through our life.
We kick off our new series "Won't You Be My Neighbour" looking at how, as followers of Christ, we are called to be a neighbour to humanity. The art of neighbouring isn't a life that happens by default, we must be intentional, we must design our life around God's story of redemption and reconciliation in order to bring the gospel to a thirsty world.
This Easter Sunday we continue our God's Good News series looking at how the Easter weekend is both a reminder of the power of resurrection at work in our life and world and also a call to re-enact resurrection in our life and world.
On Palm Sunday, we continue our "God's Good News" series in the lead up to easter by looking at how Jesus' triumphal entry speaks prophetically about what salvation looks like, how salvation comes and how we embrace it.
Since Jesus, being fully human in every way, suffered when he was tempted, he identifies with us in our troubles and extends grace and mercy to us when we suffer.
This week we conclude our vision series, "Here We Go", looking at how we are sent into the world to make disciples and bear witness to the kingdom of God. We look at the question of how we share the message and story of Christ in a compelling way that cuts through all the other competing narratives in our world.
Pastor Kristen continues our Vision Series, Here We Go, by looking at what we mean by 'HERE'. 'Here' is the place of our assignment and mission - therefore in a culture of distraction and instability, learning how to be anchored and present in where God has placed us is vital to us partnering with what God is wanting to do in and through our lives.
This week we kick off our Vision Series with Ps Aaron unpacking our vision for the year ahead, "Here.We.Go".
We conclude this series with a reflection on promises for renewal contained within Ezekiel 36:24-36
As Christians, our understanding of what worship is has to move beyond the songs that we sing on Sunday. Our expression of worship, our practice of worship, has to be enlarged to encompass our whole lives. We need to reframe worship; make it less about something that we do and more about the space in which we have been invited into; the atmosphere in which we must learn to live.
Renewal doesn't happen by accident: We sow the seeds of renewal by re-patterning our lives around His presence. In this message Ps Aaron teaches into the importance of re-patterning our lives around the word of God as both divine revelation and divine instruction.
Ps Shaun explains how God can redeploy joy to destroy the enemies fear and lies. As He supplies and baptise’ us in Joy.
According to Titus 2:11-12, grace equips and empowers us to learn the way of love. Embracing “learning to love” enables us to experience a renewal of love.
Rev. 2:4 reminds us of how essential it is to value and experience an ongoing renewal of love, both as an individual and also as a community.
This morning Ps Aaron kicks off our "Summer of Renewal" series. Many of us are ending 2021 with some level of exhaustion and weariness from this year. The good news is that scripture gives us a clear picture of how to transition well, how to turn God in prayer and allow him to lead us from disorientation to re-orientation, from grace to grace and glory to glory. At the end of this message Ps Aaron leaves us with 5 things we can do intentionally so that we can embrace a summer of renewal.
Ps Aaron wraps up our 'For God So Loved' series looking at 'Hope, Love, Joy and Peace', As represented in the Wreath of Advent.
As we continue our series "For God So Loved" we look at how Christ as the light of the world is at work in our world bringing life, revelation, invitation & transformation.
This Week Ps Russel Kicks off a new series 'For God So Loved', looking at what the Gospel, The Good News, is - more than a series of events, the Good News is the person of Jesus Christ, and fellowship with Him.
We live in a world that more and more is being understood and interpreted through a lens of suspicion. A suspicion that is fuelled by fear. This lens is fundamentally at odds with the Christian gospel, which calls us to understand and interpret our world though a lens of goodwill. In this message we seek to understand what is driving this lens of suspicion and how a revelation of Jesus Christ changes everything in how we see and live in this world.
We continue our series "From Crisis to Renewal" looking at how we live in this world in a such a way that brings change, renewal and reformation in the midst of a culture that is at odds with the ways of the kingdom. As a church we have a mission in this world, to be salt and light, bringing heaven to earth. It is important that as we go about doing the works of Jesus that we do this according to the way of Jesus.
We continue our "Unlocked" series with Ps Russell bringing a message on speaking in tongues . We examine 1 Cor. 12-14 in order to understand what the gift of speaking in tongues is all about, and answer the question “how are tongues a sign for unbelievers?”
Ps Aaron continues with our "Unlocked" series teaching into how we can grow in the gift of the prophetic both in our day to day lives and as a prophetic community.
We continue our "Unlocked" series with Ps Russell bringing a timely message on hearing the voice of God. Learning to hear God's voice is a crucial key if we are to unlock the power of God in our lives.
This week we kick off our brand new teaching series "Unlocked". Zechariah 4:6 calls us to be a people who rely upon His Spirit rather than our own strength and might. The greatest witness of the gospel is the people of God, living lives for God, empowered by God in front of the world.
Special guest Shane Willard joins us with his message "Blood in the Water". Hope is a theme that runs right throughout scripture and in times of suffering we must never forget that it is hope that gets the last word. We know you will be blessed by this timely word.
The Spirit empowers us to live a disciplined life. Much of that empowerment comes from our community.
This week we continue our "called to be" series looking at the fruit of kindness, goodness and gentleness and how they are God's redemptive power at work in and through our lives bringing restoration and healing to a broken world.
This morning Ps Kristen leads us into the fourth week of our "called to be" series as we look at how we cultivate a life of patience and faithfulness.
Called to Rejoice! We are called to express Heaven’s joy, and to reflect Heaven’s peace in the here and now.
This week we are continuing with our series “called to be” looking at how we are called to be a people of love. What does this look and how do live this out in a culture and time that is more concerned with self than it is with one another.
We are called to be free. We are called to be love. We are called to be light in the darkest of places. We are called to be a people in step with His Spirit, bearing the fruit of His Spirit. We are called to be distinct. This Sunday we kick off our new series “called to be” and we start by looking at how we are called to be distinct in this world, to be recognisably different that God might be proved holy through His church in the sight of the nations.
We conclude our 101 series teaching into a life that is empowered by grace. Grace empowers us in our weakness to live a life of power. A power that transforms us and a power that flows through us as we walk out the mission and call of Christ for our lives.
We kick off a two part teaching in the grace as God as we bring our 101 series to its conclusion. Grace is not just salvation and forgiveness, but a whole new order of life. Over the next two weeks we are going to see that there are 3 main aspects of grace. A grace that saves, grace that transforms and grace that empowers.
We kick-off our new series, “101”, looking at what makes Dayspring, Dayspring. This week Ps Aaron teaches on the priority of 'His Presence', and how we can cultivate a value for, and awareness of, His presence in our life.
We continue our ‘Formed’ series looking at the 7th Beatitude, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God”. What did it mean, culturally and biblically to be a peacemaker in Jesus’ time? . What does it look like for us, as a community, today? What does it look like for me personally? We look at what it means to be a peacemaker, by highlighting what a peacemaker is, and what it isn’t.
Continuing our series, 'Formed', we explore the Beatitudes “Blessed are the merciful”, and “Blessed are the pure in heart”. In this context, we view mercy as a love of God which manifests itself in an attitude of identification with others, that we might be tempted to exclude. We see purity as a singleness of heart, an honesty which has no hidden motive, no selfish interest - in other words, sincere devotion to God.
We continue our series, 'Formed', looking at the next beatitude, "blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness". We look at how we need to approach our understanding of righteousness with humility, and that our level of hunger and thirst, as well as the objects of our appetites, will truly determine our experience of it.
We continue our new series, ‘Formed’, by looking at the first 3 Beatitudes that Jesus teaches. “Blessed are the poor in spirit”, “Blessed are those who mourn”, and “Blessed are the meek”. We look at the theme of humility and its significance, as Jesus launches His entire sermon on the mount from this idea of placing ourselves at the bottom, in order to be a servant of all.
Ps Aaron kicks off our new "formed" series where we look at Jesus' teaching in the beatitudes. The Beatitudes have the power and wisdom, to center us, to re-order our disordered desires in this cultural moment and bring the formation we are longing for, firstly in our own lives and then pushed through Christian community into our culture.
This week Ps Kristen wraps up our 'Found' series, looking at how we can take all that we have learned over the previous weeks, and have it outworked in our lives. We need to take up the challenge to accept and embrace the stretch of new relationships: the discomfort of allowing others to speak into our lives, and remember that it is all only possible through the empowering of the Holy Spirit.
We continue our 'Found' series, looking at The Vision and Mission that God calls us to live out of as the people of God. Jesus gives His people a clear vision of being an interconnected, loyal, stubbornly committed community, formed around a Covenantal, Cross-Shaped, Christ, kind of love for one another. But this vision comes with an equally clear mission: to be a people who are committed to practicing the way of Jesus together, for the renewal of the world.
Ps Aaron continues our series, “Found”, teaching from Psalm 133:
“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity."
Community is not easy, but it is good: it is not conflict free, but it is pleasant.
We need to “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit”, and allow the oneness of our God, to work oneness into us.
Description. God has a vision For the planet. He wants all his creation to kn ow him through Jesus. We are a part of that plan. He wants us to know who we are in his plan. Once we know who we are, we can discover what we can do to be a part of his vision.
Paul teaches us in 1 Cor. 8 that “knowledge puffs up while love builds up”. We must allow love to govern all our relationships.
This Resurrection Sunday, Ps Aaron wraps up our ‘Costly Love’ series, revealing the resurrection as a life- altering, world-changing moment from which we are called to live out our lives. What does it mean to see life through the resurrection?
Continuing our Costly Love series, Mike Gore, CEO of Open Doors, draws on lessons from the Persecuted Church to highlight our need for Resilience. Courageous Faith, and Costly Love, cannot be outworked, in the absence of resilience.
Ps. Aaron kicks off our Easter series “costly love” asking us the question: Who is defining what love looks like in our life?
PS Aaron continues our vision series, “found & formed” teaching into the need for disciples of Christ to live with hearts postured toward repentance. What does Jesus say about repentance? What does repentance look like in kingdom?
The Cross & The Towel Ps Aaron and Kristen continue our series on Found & Found with a message around the grace practice of service. As we look at the life Jesus lived we learn that the kingdom of God is carried upon servants. Jesus reveals to us that our God is a God of profound love and service, His is a Kingdom built upon love and service and so we, His people are called to be the expression of that truth.
Ps Aaron kicks off our vision series for 2021 "Found & Formed". Where are we finding home? The place you are found is the place you will find significance, identity and belonging and it is therefore the place that will form you. As disciples of Jesus our desires is to be found with Christ, so that we can be formed by Christ.
Taking hold of Colossians 3:12 (“... clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”) to represent Christ in an increasingly disconnected world.
Ps Kristen continues our theme: '21 Days of Focus'. This week we are focusing on the heart and how we posture ourselves to receive from Jesus. Jesus wants us to be able to trust Him, to let go of control in our own lives and approach with hearts wide open.
Ps Aaron kicks off our 21 days of Focus looking at Luke 22 and the Prayer of Relinquishment prayed by Jesus as He faced the cross. St Augustine says "True, whole prayer is nothing but love". The prayer of relinquishment is where God’s grace teaches us to release our will and flow into the will of the Father. It is from this place that our prayers are transformed into acts of love.
Ps Aaron concludes our series on "Seeing Jesus" teaching from Colossians 3 that "you have been raised with Christ". We have been invited into all that Christ has done and all that He is. Based on this truth we don't have to let our enemy cancel our confidence. Instead, let Christ be our confidence and the vision that we live out of in 2021.
As we enter into a new year Ps Aaron, continuing our series "Seeing Jesus" invites us into the promise that a vision of Jesus gives us. So much bigger than the opportunity that a new year brings… Jesus offers us a whole new life !! A new way of being human, relating to one another and to the world around us. Getting a vision of Jesus is giving Him permission to create beauty out of discordant parts of our life.
Ps Aaron finishes our Christmas series teaching from the passage in Luke 2, "today in Bethlehem a rescuer was born for you. He is the Lord Yahweh, the Messiah". The Christmas narrative is not telling you what you should do but what God has already done. In a world where peace is harder and harder to come by, a world filled with fear, anxiety and and political turmoil, Christmas tells us that we can’t save ourselves, but we can for ourselves find salvation.
Russell continues our series "Our Emmanuel" looking at God’s rescue plan for humanity and how at the point of the virgin conception, everything changed, both past, present and future .
Ps Aaron kicks off our Christmas series "Our Emmanuel" looking at the change that "God With Us" brings and the response that it requires of us.
Ps Aaron speaks from Ezekiel 36 unpacking what we feel God is up to in this season, moving from our heads and into our hearts, moving from an idea we believe in to a person we have given our whole lives to in order to become like Him in this world.
In closing out our series on "The Way of Jesus" our teaching team come together to answer your questions and recap the last 12 weeks of teaching.
In week 11 of our series "The Way of Jesus", Ps Russell brings a word on how the grace practices help us in learning to listen and discern the will of God in our lives.
In week 10 of our "The Way of Jesus" series Ps Aaron looks at the practice of study. The disciples said to Jesus, "where else would we go, You have the words of life".
The word of God is life giving and life transforming.
This week we are looking at the importance of the Word of God in our lives, how we are to approach it, some of the challenges we have when it comes to understanding it and applying it, but also the power that lies within it to bring life and transformation.
Ps Adam speaks on the power of simplicity. Jesus instructs us to "seek first the kingdom and His righteousness", letting us in on the power of living a focused life. Simplicity is key to living our lives as followers of Jesus.
Pastors Kristen and Bec dig into week 8 of our series "The Way of Jesus" teaching into the power of fellowship. As we look into how Jesus lived His life we see clearly the importance and the power of doing life in fellowship with others. As with all the "grace practices" this is something we have to be intentional about and Kristen and Bec give us some great keys on how to do just that.
In week 7 of our "The Way of Jesus" series we look at the grace practice of "Celebration". Jesus' whole life and ministry was framed by celebration & joy and we see this all throughout the gospels. Jesus also promises His disciples that they have access to His joy so that our joy may be full. But how do we access this joy and allow it to bring strength into our lives? That's what the practice of celebration is all about.
Ps Adam continues with week 5 of our series "The Way of Jesus". This week we are looking at the practice of generosity. We look at the generous nature of our Father and how we as His sons & daughters are called to be generous just like Him.
This week Ps Russell Bradley speaks into "The Way of Jesus" looking at the practice of worship in our lives and how it forms us into the image of Christ.
Ps Aaron continues with week 4 of our series "The Way of Jesus". This week we are looking at the practice of listening. We look at the importance of listening in the life of disciple but also what it actually means to listen and how we go about tuning into the voice of God in our lives.
Ps Aaron continues our series on "The Way of Jesus" looking at the practice of prayer. The call of every disciple is not just to pray but to become the prayers we pray. Prayer frees us from self-sufficiency and connects us to the heart of the Father and to His mission to bring the rule & reign of heaven here on earth.
Continuing with our series on The Way of Jesus we take a look at our first "grace practice" of Silence and Solitude. With the noise of the world around us only increasing this counter-cultural practice helps us to resist the noise and stay connected and present to God, ourselves and the world around us.
Our senior Leaders Aaron & Kristen kick off our new series "The Way of Jesus" reminding us all of the need for us to remain engaged & authentic as we grow into the image of Christ and live the life of resilient disciples.
