The Thoughts Outside Myself podcast brings forth life issues that we as West Indian millennials encounter throughout our lives. Yes, it's common knowledge; yes, some common misconceptions; and yes, all of the taboo. We all feel it, now let's talk about it.
Murphy's Law should have been the title for this episode, but 2 days, a few crashes of my Mac, multiple attempts to reformat the file and we are here. Thankfully!
In the season finale episode, my guest and I share out many in's and out's on what we feel sound mental health is and how to cultivate it. And like anything in life, it's going to take practice and sound effort.

I always say nothing is set in stone and we millennials are living proof. In part two, Katie and I discuss discovering - or rediscovering your passion and age having absolutely nothing to do with it. We are sifting through this reality - the cards we've been dealt - without regret. The ability to pivot is essential for longevity in any endeavour. Us millennial get it.
Tune-in to part two...

I'm so grateful and proud having had my LMG journey be along side this special guest. She a fellow host, business woman, and, soon to be, real estate tycoon. Join us for a chat on following dreams, pivoting, shifting and trying real hard to stay afloat in this ever combative world. And of course, what would an episode be without riding along a tangent or two, wherever it may take us.

"Are you a Nicki fan!? ... Pull up in the Sri Lanka"
Yes, I went there.
In this episode, we got another chance to see the West Indies from the outside. This time, through the comparative eyes of a Sri Lanka born but Cayman raised island boy.

Never where I thought we'd end up but I loved the destination. Lewwe first take in a lesson in History.

"Pretty hurts" is a true and complete sentiment. And weight - which affects how we feel about our "Pretty" - is definitely an ongoing issue in the lives of the majority of us in the West. Beauty standards is a topic I can speak on until the cows come home and I'm so excited to have such a rounded conversation on the subject. I absolutely could not wait to drop this episode/discussion on weight ; ).
But I cannot impress upon you enough how proud I am of this episode.

Forgive the edits - that were done between drives and an AMAZING halftime show on Super Bowl Sunday.
But 2 nights of a missed bedtime is worth it to bring you this very special BIG LOVE day episode that features the on going love story between two of the most loveable people I know. (Who am I kidding, we're all loveable but most of us just happen to be single in love on BIG LOVE day).

I've always heard of the bear and bull market and I know that wise investments can set you and your successors/descendants on the right track financially. But, in this instance, I know better but have not done better. DONT BE LIKE ME. In this conversation, the point really hit home that we have reframe our knowledge of finance and savings. Have a listen. Hear us out.

Let me take this time to introduce you to my hilarious (and tall) friend, Shak. In this episode, Shak shares with me what the experience has been for him living in the West Indies as a Brooklyn-ite. You may or may not be surprise to hear just how prepared he actually was.

To be or not to be?!! Wasn't the question here. More like "whe Nanny ramgoat go?" I just couldn't wait to have this sit-down with Sir Hilton Grace. The goal was to chat literature and somehow I caught myself chatting about Long Celia. Not sure who that is, well then have a listen.

This one really got away from me but I still enjoyed this journey. Every sit down with Ms. Tracy Jane is highly enlightening. And she claims not to be profound! PISH POSH. Listen for yourself as we discuss one of Caymans', and the worlds', most pressing issues - the real estate market! ... and much more

Excuse me while I show out right quick! On this, our season finale - that's right, season FINALE - we are taking a musical tour around the Caribbean. Definitely not an exhausted list but still so big we had to split it. So make sure to also check out parts 1 and 2 of what this musical journey has to offer:)
Thank you all for rocking with me for my very first season of this podcast!

"A whistling women nor a crowing hen is neither fit for God nor men." Never heard of that one?
Well, today we are discussing some other ridiculous gender roles that you may or may not have heard before. And of course some tangents in between.

"Oh so you think you're a big woman/man now"
Popular words heard during childhood here in the West Indies. Today we are talking about moment and celebrations that actually mark passing that "big person" age and so many more major milestones of life. Can you relate?

I'm going to leave this one right here cause it just might touch a nerve. What is a gauge between social drinker and alcoholism? Hmmm. I'm not quite are either but I'm discussing just that in this episode. Feel free to join the conversation, imperfect as it is.

No two families are alike and that definitely true here in the Caribbean. I guess that means we have a lot of examples on how to get it right. Right? Naaaah! Have a listen and share your two cents with me.

Allow me a moment to tip my hat to these groups of people. Meanwhile, I can't even love a puppy. If you are in or have experience a love that defies boundaries then this one's for you. Quick! Who's your favourite artist? Are they from your hometown? island? country? How would you feel if they all of a sudden started promoting themselves across the pond? What if they started making music in Australia cause that's where they get the most "coin" or recognition? Would you call them a sellout. Well, crazy hypothetical I know! But, in this episode, we dive all the way into West Indian artist and how they are viewed once they cross over into mainstream.

I know what you're thinking. Split personality? Nope! We are talking about the age old question, "Who am I?" I know I bit off a big chunk with this one but I'm just getting starting. I promise to help and not hinder any existing curiosities.

Wait! Don't run from them. When it comes to dealing with insecurities, I've always found that the best practice is to just confront them head on. Own them. Then, move on. But, that could just be me. Whether it's body image, relationship, financial, or even learning insecurities, we all suffer from the crippling effects of an insecurity. Here are some of mine.

Woo! This is it guys; we're diving in. We begin to take a look at the similarities and differences between two sets of Africans in the diaspora - The West Indian and the African American. What could possibly go wrong when you mix different opinions with social media?

I know we all would love to have the blueprint to finding that perfect person. Sorry but, this isn't that. What I am able to share however is my personal insight from past experiences. Hindsight being 20/20 and all. I've kissed my share of frogs but I'm over it. How about you?

So many tangents in recording and few late nights of editing later, episode 3 is finally here. Between schedules not scheduling and some good old fashion excuse making, I definitely set myself up. But most appropriately titled, this episode deals with a wee bit of self sabotaging and fun childhood dreams. What were some of yours? - dreams not self sabotaging methods - hehe.
Do you sabotage? Would you even recognise it if you did?

There are few things West Indians love more than having a good time. In this episode, I discuss what the party life and offerings is like here in Cayman and the Caribbean. The effects of Covid-19 and lock down and how we as Caribbean people pulled through.
