On 8th August 2022 the world lost one of the greatest singer, songwriter and producers ever. On July 28th 1967, British-based Jamaican music company, Island Records launched a label to showcase the output of one of the most popular and successful producers of the ska and rock steady eras – Arthur ‘Duke’ Reid.

Surprisingly the label failed to fulfill its potential and folded after a matter of months. And this may well have been the end of the Trojan story had it not been for the creation of a new Jamaican music company, launched in the summer of ’68, which then took over the the name of Trojan.

Tonight on Its A Way Of Life in conjunction with www.liquidatormusic.com we say Happy Birthday to the original Trojan Records with over two hours of great Ska Music.

Tonight is all about one of my favourite bands at the moment, and not just because they come from Essex, just like me.

Death Of Guitar released their first album in 2017 and are going from strength to strength. They have now released three albums and the last hit the top 40, not bad for a band that is solely funded by their fans.

On 6th May 2021 the band filmed a live concert, behind closed doors due to the pandemic, and broadcast it live on social media. That concert has now been converted in to a fan-club only CD and that's what I am bringing you tonight. With songs from all three albums, sit back and enjoy the sounds of the boys from The Essex Ska Club.

After last weeks show, about the current batch of solo artists and bands that could be classed as Modern Day mods, the listeners raised some interesting points about some of the bands that were included, but more importantly about the ones that were missed out. So tonight we are back for round two and another selection of recent bands from around the world that can be seen to be carrying the Mod banner forward into the 2020's and beyond. Again, not everyone will agree with the choices made and there are bound to be some bands that have been missed off, but come on, join me tonight to make your own mind up. Yes I have over run my 1hr slot again, but there were too many great bands. To cut the show short would have been a travesty. Listen in tonight to hear songs from The Cycle Paths, Idle Talk, The Turning, Missing Andy, The Rifles and many more

A week or so ago there was a post on one of the mod pages on Facebook asking who were the current batch of solo artists and bands that could be classed as Modern Day mods. It was an interesting post, and forms the basis of tonight's show. The suggested bands were so good that I could not bring myself to cut out anyone out of the show so tonight we over run. Not everyone will agree with the choices made and there are bound to be some bands that have been missed off, but come on, join me tonight to make your own mind up. In this extended show you will hear recently released tracks from the old boys, The Lambrettas, the Chords and The Truth as well as great tracks from the new pretenders to the Mod crown, Graham day, The Hurricanes, The Spitfires, Nick Corbin, The K's, The Shoots, The Clause, The Comms, Jake Bugg, Fay Hallam, Heavyball, Miles Cane, Electric Looking Glass and more.

This week saw the release of the new album from Paul Weller called On Sunset. The album went straight to number 1 in this weeks chart meaning he has now had chart-topping albums across five consecutive decades, in three different incarnations: as a solo artist (in 1995, 2002, 2008, 2012 and 2020), in 1982 with The Jam and 1985 with the Style Council. It is also his 20th top 10 solo album. Tonight is your chance to make your minds up about this latest release from the Modfather. I have used Classic Rock ans Pop Matters for the critics reviews of all the songs on the album, and will be playing every track tonight as well as a couple of bonus tracks.

They have finally let me back in the studio so tonight, on It,s A Way Of Life, on Radio Mix 106 FM, we are back to the old format of a 1hr show, but we are keeping the start time at 9pm here in Spain, 8 in the UK
Tonight's show celebrates a small record label, part of the Warner group, that was only active from 1964 to 1968. They did little in the charts while active even with names like Bob and Earl and Ike and Tina Turner on the roster , but a lot of their releases are now revered on the northern soul scene, It was not all Soul though as tonight I will be playing some blues and 60's garage from the same label.
