They often say that there are three primary reasons why divorce takes place, with sexual issues being near the top of the list. But if sex factored into the dissolution of our marriage, what can we do to heal and repair our sexual brokenness to be restored in our relationship with God and also prepared for future romantic relationships? On today’s episode Dr. Carol Peters-Tanksley, author of the book "Sexpectations: Reframing Your Good and Not-So-Good Stories About God, Love, and Relationships” joins the show to discuss these issues and more.

Part Two of Interview
Divorce disrupts our daily routines and upends what our daily life looks like. During divorce we must choose how to spend our time and what activities will contribute to our recovery. Today we welcome Chris Bolinger to the podcast, who is the author of two Christian devotionals for men to help us understand the importance of daily devotionals during divorce and other topics that will help us recover in the proper way.
Bible Passage Inspiration: James 5:13-15 “Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint [him] with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.”

**After spending years on submarines and surface ships, Jay Patterson adjusted his heading to help men facing brutal battles, such as divorce, pivoting careers, hitting midlife, and other challenges. Having spent much of his life submerged, working excessive hours, and being crammed into a compact people tank with 130 men for weeks and months on end, there is no option but to get along. Post-divorce life includes uncharted objects and shoals, but you can navigate obstacles and become stronger with the right mindset. On today’s podcast Jay shares how he survived on a 300-foot-long sewer pipe and how resilience, leadership, and continued growth can help rebuild your life.
Bible Passage Inspiration: Romans 8:18 “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us.”**

In today’s episode Chris provides encouragement for men who are going through divorce as we begin to enter the holiday season. For many of us, this might be the first holiday season we are spending alone, away from our former wife. You can get through this, but you must put the effort into planning to ensure you don’t make poor decisions during this difficult time.
Bible Passage Reference: 2 Corinthians 1:3-6

Divorce is a confusing time where we are asking to make decisions when we are not at the top of our game. If you ever asked yourself "where did that thought come from?," the answer may surprise you. Today Chris discusses the three voices we might hear in our head while recoverying from divorce and how to make the best decisions possible.
Bible Passage: 2 Corinthians 11:14 "And no wonder, for even Satan masquerades as an angel of light."

Today Chris dives into the work we need to put into our divorce recovery program. He will also discuss the way recoverying from divorce is similar to a 12 Step Program, and what we need to do to ensure we are drawing closer to God during this difficult time.
Bible Passage Inspiration: James 2: 14-24. "What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food foer the day, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, keep warm, and east well," but you do not give them the necesssities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. Indeed someone might say, You have faith and I have works." Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works. You believe that God is one. You do well. Even the demons believe that and tremble. Do you want proof, you ignoramus, that faith without works is useless? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by the works. Thus the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called "the friend of God." See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

In a well known passage from the gospel of Mark, we learn about a time that Jesus was crossing the Sea of Galilee with his disciples and a storm broke out. Jesus awoke from his slumber to calm the storm. Today Chris discusses what we can take from this as men who are recovering from divorce.
Bible Passage Inspiration: Mk 4:35-41 “On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” And leaving the crowd, they took him with them, just as he was, in the boat. And other boats were with him. And a great storm of wind arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care if we perish?” And he awoke and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Have you no faith?” And they were filled with awe, and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even wind and sea obey him?”

As we go through the agonizing pain of divorce we often find ourselves asking the question “why me?” We may wonder why God is allowing this to happen to us. We might not understand why our world is crumbling down, especially if we have done nothing to deserve it. Today Dale explores this question and attempts to shed light on why something so tragic can happen to a good person.
Bible Passage Inspiration: “In this you rejoice, although now for a little while you may have to suffer through various trails, so that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold that is perishable even though tested by fire, may prove to be for praise, glory, and honor at the elevation of Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 1:7).

Through both the Old and New Testament we hear stories of God’s people, and Jesus himself, spending time in the wilderness. These times were often difficult for those who suffered through them. As we go through our divorce and seek recovery, we spend our own, personal time in the wilderness. In today’s episode Dale discusses what this means for us and how we can look to scripture to get us through these times.

What is the true path to sustained internal happiness? When faced with the prospect of divorce many of us turn to the things of this world to try to escape and find moments of peace. None of these things, though, will create a lasting change in our lives. Fortunately, as Christians we are provided with a perfect roadmap to happiness that never fails. One of the most common traps men fall into when going through a divorce is the pathway of pornography. We are often leaving a marriage that was absent of physical affection for an extended period of time and we turn to this habit to ease our pain and fill a void. But what happens when this behavior becomes an addiction? In the first of our series on breaking addictive patterns Dale will be joined by Dr. Mark Denison, who is the founder of There’s Still Hope, an organization dedicated to recovery from porn addiction.
