Hey y’all, welcome back to the show. Today, I'm talking about something real and personal—not letting other people’s words define who you are.
Maybe someone told you you weren’t good enough, smart enough, worthy enough—or just made you feel like you were “less than.” And for whatever reason… you believed them.
But here's the truth: they don’t get to write your story.
You are more than the names, labels, or opinions that have been spoken over you. Whether it came from a parent, an ex, a boss, or even someone who barely knows you—it doesn’t matter. You don’t have to carry those words with you anymore.
1. Let’s be real—words stick.
We all have that one thing someone said that still echoes in our head. “You’re lazy.” “You’ll never make it.” “You’re too much.” Or maybe… “You’re not enough.”
But just because it was said doesn’t mean it’s true.
2. You get to decide what you believe.
Here’s the deal—people will always have opinions. But you have the power to filter what you accept and what you throw out. You don’t have to live under a label someone else created.
3. God gets the final say.
And this is the part that helps me the most. God says you’re chosen. Loved. Created on purpose. Equipped. Whole.
So, whose words are we gonna believe? A hurt human, or the Creator of the universe?
Isaiah 54:17 says:
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment—you shall condemn.”
Let me break that down. That means even the words people say to tear you down? They won’t win.
And guess what? You have the authority to cancel them out. You don’t have to carry it. You don’t have to believe it.
So today, I just want to remind you:
You are not what they said about you. You are who God says you are.
Their words might’ve hurt, but they don’t have the power to define you—unless you give it to them.
If this spoke to you, hit that follow button, share it with someone who needs this reminder, and hey—write down one lie you’ve believed and cross it out. Replace it with what’s actually true.
Jennifer and Lisa discussed early signs of dementia and emphasized the importance of recognizing cognitive issues that may indicate a more serious condition. They explored communication strategies for caregivers, including the use of simple language and a person-centered approach when dealing with individuals who hold false beliefs or delusions. Lisa shared various care management techniques and resources, highlighting the effectiveness of approaches that focus on validation and patience rather than confrontation, while also discussing the impact of isolation and strategies for engaging with dementia patients through reminiscence and music.

Today's podcast features Rashaan Williams telling his compelling story of addiction to recovery.
For men facing rude or disrespectful behavior at work, it's crucial to remember your worth and stay professional. When others act poorly, it says more about them than you. Stay calm, set firm limits, and handle problems directly and calmly when needed. Get support from trusted coworkers or mentors, and keep your career goals in mind. Your worth isn't determined by others' words, and keeping your integrity is a strong trait. Stick to your values, keep working hard, and know that persistence will earn you the respect you deserve.

Bad gut health can greatly affect your mental health. The link between the gut and the brain, known as the gut-brain axis, includes many connections between the bacteria in your gut, your immune system, and your brain. If your gut health is not good, it can cause problems with how your brain chemicals are made, lead to inflammation, and affect how you handle stress. This can lead to mental health problems like feeling anxious, sad, or having trouble with memory. Eating well, taking probiotics, and managing stress can be important ways to help your mental health by improving your gut health.

In a world always trying to tell us who we should be, it's important to know who we really are in God's view. Our true self isn't decided by what society says, our past errors, or what others think. Instead, it's based on the constant truth found in the Bible. Let's look at what it means to accept the identity God has given us.
Psalms 40:1-3 MSG I waited and waited and waited for God . At last he looked; finally, he listened. He lifted me out of the ditch, pulled me from deep mud. He stood me up on a solid rock to make sure I wouldn’t slip. He taught me how to sing the latest God-song, a praise-song to our God. More and more people are seeing this: they enter the mystery, abandoning themselves to God.
Job 3:11-19 MSG Why didn’t I die at birth, my first breath out of the womb my last? Why were there arms to rock me, and breasts for me to drink from? I could be resting in peace right now, asleep forever, feeling no pain, In the company of kings and statesmen in their royal ruins, Or with princes resplendent in their gold and silver tombs. Why wasn’t I stillborn and buried with all the babies who never saw light, Where the wicked no longer trouble anyone and bone-weary people get a long-deserved rest? Prisoners sleep undisturbed, never again to wake up to the bark of the guards. The small and the great are equals in that place, and slaves are free from their masters. Job 42:1-6 MSG Job answered God : “I’m convinced: You can do anything and everything. Nothing and no one can upset your plans. You asked, ‘Who is this muddying the water, ignorantly confusing the issue, second-guessing my purposes?’ I admit it. I was the one. I babbled on about things far beyond me, made small talk about wonders way over my head. You told me, ‘Listen, and let me do the talking. Let me ask the questions. You give the answers.’ I admit I once lived by rumors of you; now I have it all firsthand—from my own eyes and ears! I’m sorry—forgive me. I’ll never do that again, I promise! I’ll never again live on crusts of hearsay, crumbs of rumor.” '
Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul?
Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God—
soon I’ll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face.
He’s my God.When my soul is in the dumps, I rehearse
everything I know of you, From Jordan depths to Hermon heights, including Mount Mizar. Chaos calls to chaos, to the tune of whitewater rapids. Your breaking surf, your thundering breakers crash and crush me.
Then God promises to love me all day, sing songs all through the night! My life is God’s prayer.

Relationships are very important for our mental health and happiness. Good relationships give us support, love, and a feeling of being part of something, while bad relationships can cause stress, worry, and sadness.

The Bible talks about different parts of mental health, focusing on ideas like hope, faith, and help when people feel upset. Although the idea of mental health as we know it now wasn't clearly explained in the Bible, many parts give advice on handling worries, sadness, fear, and other mental health issues.
Praying for resilience can help to strengthen your spirit and trust in God’s provision through all of life’s challenges.
June is a special month focused on men's mental health, a time when we need to talk more about the mental health problems that men often face but don't always talk about. Mental health is very important for our overall health, but sometimes men don't get help because they feel embarrassed, society expects them to be tough, or they just don't know much about it. We need to start changing this and make a place where men can talk about their feelings without feeling awkward.

John 11:33-36 When Jesus saw her sobbing and the Jews with her sobbing, a deep anger welled up within him. He said, “Where did you put him?” “Master, come and see,” they said. Now Jesus wept. The Jews said, “Look how deeply he loved him.”

Accountability means having to take responsibility for what you do and the choices you make, as well as the results that come from them. I tmeans you have to explain yourself to others, like a person, a group, or anorganization, and face the outcomes of your actions. In the bigger picture, accountability helps make things clear, builds trust, and keeps people actingfairly and honestly in their personal lives, at work, and in society.
Jesus says in Matthew 12:36-37, "I want you to knowthat everyone will have to explain themselves on the day of judgment for every careless thing they've said. Your words will show if you are innocent or guilty." This part of the Bible reminds us that we are responsible forwhat we say.
Biblical accountability is about living a life that istransparent, responsible, and in alignment with God's will, supported by a community that encourages and corrects each other in love.

“Long enough, God— you’ve ignored me long enough. I’ve looked at the back of your head long enough. Long enough I’ve carried this ton of trouble, lived with a stomach full of pain. Long enough my arrogant enemies have looked down their noses at me. A lack of accountability has a huge effect on mental health. In instances where someone or something refuses to take responsibility for their actions or decisions, the effect is powerlessness, frustration, and disappointment.
Individual-wise, individuals may suffer anger, resentment, and depression because they feel they've got no control over their situation or that justice will never be attained. This devalues their sense of self, leading to increased stress levels. Depending on the degree of this, mental health will manifest in the form of anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and in worst cases, PTSD.
5 James:16 (NIV): "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."
Galatians 6:1-2 (NIV):"Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
Ephesians 6: 10-1510 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
Galatians 1:10For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Conclusion of this 3 part series. Phil 4:8, & Ephesians 6:10-18. Filling our minds with good things.
Seeking therapy and relying on your faith in God can complement each other offering different but valuable forms of support.
Walking in purpose for God within the realm of mental health can be a profoundly meaningful and impactful journey. It involves recognizing that our mental well-being is a crucial aspect of our overall health, and incorporating faith and purpose can provide strength, resilience, and healing.
Understand that it's okay to have anxious thoughts, but they don’t have to dictate your day. Acknowledge them, and then consciously redirect your focus to something God-purposed, positive, or productive.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.(Hebrews 11:6)
Satan tries to corrupt our minds with lies and doubts, and we need to renew our minds with God’s truth and promises.
Ephesians 6:14 Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth and having on the breastplate of righteousness.
John 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
Matthew 28:20 teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Proverbs 4:25-26
25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. 26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
Luke 10:38-42Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Matthew 14:28-31And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
Mark 4:19and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.Luke 21:34And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.Matthew 6:31-34Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Spiritual distractions are anything that takes our focus away from God and His will for our lives. They can be caused by various factors, such as our own selfish desires, worldly influences, lack of personal relationship with God, or not reading the Word of God. Spiritual distractions can hinder our spiritual growth and prevent us from hearing God’s voice clearly.

We often times hold on to past hurts. Over the years we've been taught not to speak up and out about mental health. That is no longer the case for me today...let's get into it! I hope you enjoy today's episode because it's straight from the dome as I sit at my desk.

The connection between diet and emotions stems from the close relationship between your brain and your gastrointestinal tract, often called the “second brain.”
Here’s how it works: Your GI tract is home to billions of bacteria that influence the production of neurotransmitters, chemical substances that constantly carry messages from the gut to the brain. (Dopamine and serotonin are two common examples.)
Eating healthy food promotes the growth of “good” bacteria, which in turn positively affects neurotransmitter production. A steady diet of junk food, on the other hand, can cause inflammation that hampers production. When neurotransmitter production is in good shape, your brain receives these positive messages loud and clear, and your emotions reflect it. But when production goes awry, so might your mood.
