In this episode, I talked about the rising concerns of separating science from the arts and humanities which has inspired the shift to STEAM from STEM by (re)incorporating arts into STEM. I also discussed the reasons why arts and science are similar and complementary and talked about the legendary scientists who were also artists and writers.

In this episode, I talked about how the human genome project (HGP) was conducted and the significance of this project. The HGP has made genetic research less costly and less time consuming which allows for discoveries of genes and their roles in diseases. It also inspired the sequencing of other animals and plants to study evolution or allowing genetic modifications to create more disease and climate resistant crops. Nowadays, reference genomes are used for medical purposes such as genetic screening for disease predisposition in the famous case of Angelina Jolie to ancestry testing using services like 23andMe and ancestry.com.
This is the introduction to the podcast. The Science Promoter is my little experiment, a space where I learn how to share more fun and interesting science and discuss other science related topics.
