[News] Jokowi Attributes Kalimantan flooding to Rainwater Catchment Damage
Over the last three weeks, flash floods had hit Sintang District, West Kalimantan Province, as Kapuas River had overflowed its banks. Jokowi noted that Kapuas River in West Kalimantan was overflowing owing to the damaged rainwater catchment areas, for which the government would focus on conducting repairs.
Apart from damage in the catchment areas, another factor causing flooding was extreme rainfall over Kalimantan or Borneo Island. Some parts of Kalimantan Island, home to the country's tropical rainforests, had experienced major flooding over the last few years, especially in the South, West, and East Kalimantan provinces.

[Children’s book] Hammy the Hamster This book tells about Hammy’s story. Hammy is the hamster who lives with his mother Henrietta, his father Harry, his sister Hachi, and his brother Han. They live in South America at the burrow under the trees that look like the letter H. They mostly out after dark because they are afraid to get trapped and become someone’s pet. They like to eat seeds and fruit. And just like us, they like to play and have fun too. One day, their cousins who is someone’s pet sent a picture and said they had a lot of fun but missed playing with hammy’s family. One of their cousins said he liked people, he always had food and water and lots of toys to play with, he even likes to take a ride in the pocket of his people friend, Billy. After hearing that, Hammy is no longer afraid of being someone’s pet and hopes that if he ever becomes someone’s pet, please take good care of him because he will do all he can to be someone’s friend.
[Cartoon Movie] Beehive Preview Three bears named Brizz, Panda, and Ice Bear are taking a walk and enjoying the morning. Then Panda, spilled honey on his head. At first, he was angry but when the honey was tried, everyone was amazed because the honey taste was too good. Then they are interested in the honey and try to take the hive by disguised using bee costumes, they take the hive and the honey until the queen comes out of the hive and prepares to attack them. But one of them has an idea to collect pollen for the bees to eat so that they can take the honey in peace and there is a symbiotic mutualism between the bees and the three bears.
Hi everyone, I’m Hevi Dwi Nurhayati. Today I'm gonna tell you about my experience after practicing the vocabulary that I get after listening to a song.
I was listening to two songs. The first song is “Traitor” by Olivia Rodrigo. The second song is “Jealousy, jealousy” by Olivia Rodrigo.
The song with title “Traitor” which talks about feeling betrayed by an old boyfriend. The lyrics was success to touches on the different emotions affiliated with heartbreak, which the 18-year-old global sensation breaks down into “anger, spite, sadness, jealousy, and longing.”
The song with the title “jealousy, jealousy” is about the unrealistic standards society has set for young people, most notably young women, particularly on social media. On the track, Song writer tells about the constant comparison and self-hatred that social media often leads to.
My experience after listen to a song was amazing. I learn this new vocabulary, I get easier to understanding what foreigh people say and how they pronounced. But, is not just like that. from now on, I can interpret a song by the lyrics. It was so fun!

LOMBOK: The holiday island of Lombok welcomed thousands of fans on Sunday (Nov 21) for Indonesia's first superbike race on a new circuit that is part of a mega tourism infrastructure project denounced by the UN over the eviction of local families. With a population of more than 270 million people, many of whom get around on two wheels, Indonesia has one of the world's biggest communities of bike-race fans. But the archipelago had not hosted a major race since 1997. Several villages have been relocated voluntarily or by force for construction of the new Mandalika circuit. But around 40 families - along with their cattle and dogs - are still holding out in the centre of the track despite intimidation to cede their land. Environmentalists also question the wisdom of hosting large-scale events on an island under threat from natural disasters. The superbike spectacle on the 4.3 km circuit on Sunday was a prelude to a MotoGP race - the top tier of the motorcycle Grand Prix - to be held on the island in March 2022. But the gleaming new project has been the subject of bitter conflict between authorities and local residents. Near one village in the area the houses have been abandoned and a metal sign. Making matters worse, local wells have run dry for six months since tunnels were built under the circuit, leaving residents without water. Security forces have been deployed to remove some families while others have been coerced into accepting meagre compensation packages, said human rights lawyer Widodo Dwi Putro, who is defending the villagers.Sibawai, a 53-year-old farmer, has lost most of his land. United Nations experts in March called on the Indonesian government and the companies involved in the project "to respect human rights".
After I learn this news. I get so many vocabulary and get easier to understanding what foreigh people say and how they pronounced. It’s looks hard in first to pronounce but then I get easily.

[Children book] "King Midas And The Golden Touch" This story tells of King Midas a greedy king. Once, he did a good deed for someone and a Greek god appeared before him, saying that he will be granted his heart's desire for doing so. Midas wished that everything he touched should turn into gold instantly. The god granted his wish. After a while, he became hungry. However, when he touched his food, it turned to gold and he could not eat it. Seeing him troubled, his loving daughter threw her arms around him to comfort him, and she, too, turned to gold. He regretted and begged the god to take back his wish. The god took pity on him and asked him to take a dip in the river by his palace, fill a pitcher with water from the river, and sprinkle it on all the things he wanted to change back. He followed the instructions and changed his daughter back to normal. He was very happy to get his beloved daughter back and stopped being greedy from that moment on.

Huntington Beach: California oil spill sparks concern for wildlife
An oil slick off the coast of California has started washing ashore, killing fish, contaminating wetlands and closing beaches. About 3,000 barrels of oil have spread over an area covering 13 square miles (33 sq km), off the Orange County coast. Huntington Beach Mayor Kim Carr said portions of the coastline were covered in oil. An investigation into the pipeline breach that caused it is under way.
The slick, about five miles off the coasts of Huntington Beach and Newport Beach, was discovered on Saturday morning. It's thought to be one of the oil spills in the state’s recent history, according to Associated Press.
Authorities are now attempting to contain the oil by using protective booms. Divers are also working at the scene to determine how the leak occurred. "Wildlife is dying. It's very sad," Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley told CBS News. She added that there were reports of dead animals along the shore and Talbert Marsh, an ecological reserve had also suffered "significant damage".
Amplify Energy Corp, which owns three off-shore platforms, said it stopped operations and shut its pipeline on Saturday.
CEO Martyn Willsher said the pipeline had been suctioned to ensure that no more oil would spill.
The area, 40 miles south of Los Angeles, is extremely popular with surfers. Beaches have been closed and the last day of the Pacific Airshow was cancelled. Residents have been told not to approach animals affected by the spill and to instead call authorities.
Michelle Steel, a Republican representative for part of the affected area, has asked President Joe Biden to declare a major disaster, which would allow for funds to help with clean-up operations. In 2010, the Deep Water Horizon incident off the Gulf of Mexico saw nearly 300,000 tonnes of oil spill, resulting in the death of thousands of species ranging from plankton to dolphins. There were also other longer-term impacts on marine life including impaired reproduction, reduced growth, lesions and disease.

[Cartoon Movie] Moana The story starts with grandmother Tala telling a tale about Te Fiti, the mother island. The mother island starts to deteriorate, and issues forth a demon named Te Ka. one day someone will have to find the heart to restore peace in the world. After the story is told, Moana goes down to the beach then Moana starts collecting the seashells, a wave rises up and starts to play with her. She sees a green stone coming towards her and she takes it in her hand. A fast forward starts to happen in that we are shown Moana learning more about how to be a chief from her father and spiritual side from grandmother. One day, Moana suggests to her father they should fish beyond the reef but her father does not agree and gets angry because her father once got caught in a terrible storm while sailing. She tells them that she will go out and restore the heart of Te Fiti in order to save her people from hunger. Moana sails safely for a while, but at night, a storm comes and knocks her boat over then she met maui in the morning. Moana then demands Maui to aid her in restoring the heart of Te Fiti. Te Ka angry and makes a huge wave and knocks over Moana’s canoe, and sends a fiery blast her way. Fast forward, The goddess transforms in a lush green person, and restores the island in all of its beauty.

Madagascar on the brink of climate change-induced famine
The drought, the worst in four decades, has devastated isolated farming communities in the south of the country, leaving families to scavenge for insects to survive. "These are famine-like conditions and they're being driven by climate not conflict," said the UN World Food Programme's Shelley Thakral. The UN estimates that 30,000 people are currently experiencing the highest internationally recognised level of food insecurity - level five - and there are concerns the number affected could rise sharply as Madagascar enters the traditional "lean season" before harvest. "This is unprecedented. These people have done nothing to contribute to climate change. They don't burn fossil fuels… and yet they are bearing the brunt of climate change," said Ms Thakral. In the remote village of Fandiova, in Amboasary district, families recently showed a visiting WFP team the locusts that they were eating. "I clean the insects as best I can but there's almost no water," said Tamaria, a mother of four, who goes by one name. "My children and I have been eating this every day now for eight months because we have nothing else to eat and no rain to allow us to harvest what we have sown," she added. "Today we have absolutely nothing to eat except cactus leaves," said Bole, a mother of three, sitting on the dry earth. She said her husband had recently died of hunger, as had a neighbour, leaving her with two more children to feed. "What can I say? Our life is all about looking for cactus leaves, again and again, to survive." Improve water management Although Madagascar experiences frequent droughts and is often affected by the change in weather patterns caused by El Niño, experts believe climate change can be directly linked to the current crisis. "With the latest IPCC report we saw that Madagascar has observed an increase in aridity. And that is expected to increase if climate change continues. "In many ways this can be seen as a very powerful argument for people to change their ways," said Dr Rondro Barimalala, a Madagascan scientist working at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Viewing the same atmospheric data at Santa Barbara University in California, director of the Climate Hazards Center, Chris Funk, confirmed the link with "warming in the atmosphere", and said the Madagascan authorities needed to work to improve water management. "We think there's a lot that can be done in the short term. We can often forecast when there's going to be above normal rains and farmers can use that information to increase their crop production. We're not powerless in the face of climate change," he added. The current drought's impact is now being felt in larger towns in southern Madagascar too, with many children forced to beg on the streets for food. "The prices in the market are going up - three or four times. People are selling their land to get some money to buy food," added Tsina Endor, who works for a charity, Seed, in Tolanaro. Her colleague, Lomba Hasoavana, said he and many others had taken to sleeping in their cassava fields to try to protect their crops from people desperate for food, but this had become too dangerous. "You could risk your life. I find it really, really hard because every day I have to think about feeding myself and my family," he said, adding: "Everything is so unpredictable about the weather now.
