I've been sick the last couple weeks with COVID and so wasn't feeling up to posting anything last week. BUT, the show much go on!

Today, I am feeling better but my voice sounds worse, as everything in my chest is breaking up (gross!)

This week's episode is an audio file of my very first national presentation, at Heartbeat International's 2018 Annual Conference in Anaheim, CA.

If you've been listening for a while, you probably already know that I am Founder and Executive Director of a maternity home in Tennessee. We serve mothers in crisis and virtually all I know about trauma, poverty mindset, and addiction, I experienced first through my moms and then sought out the research to better understand both their behaviors and how we, the staff, can help more effectively.

Let me know your thoughts and opinions. What questions do you have? Email me at suzanne@traumainformedchurch.com

This episode explains the differences between sympathetic nervous system dominance and parasympathetic dominance as well as typical behaviors to expect. As you serve those with a higher trauma background, often those in the poverty class but not always, you are more likely to see certain behaviors that can be labeled a problem but are really their brains attempt to provide a solution. Through today’s episode you will gain a deeper understanding of How our brains and our bodies rewire because of the trauma that we have experienced.
