We worship something when we believe we need that thing to fill in the weaknesses and shortcomings of something else... so what does it say when we try to worship other things WITH Jesus?

Christ is the only supreme thing in our universe, that title belongs to Him and Him alone.
In week one of this new series in the book of Colossians we dig into the context of the book, the culture of Rome. And we end with the promise that Christ has rescued those who have taken him up on the offer to transfer them from the Kingdom of Darkness to the Kingdom of Light. Ever had a blown tire on the road? It interrupts your trip. There is no way forward till you get that baby fixed. (Hey, why do we refer to random things as "baby"? Do other countries do that? Sorry, ADD kicked in.)
There is nothing you can do until you get the blown tire repaired. NOTHING. You're just stuck. I think our spiritual journeys experience blown tires. That moment when things blow up and there is no way forward. More often than not, that blown tire in our spiritual journeys is caused by the three-letter word s-i-n.
So how do we move forward when we blow a tire, when we sin big time? How did the Israelites do it? Let's go back into the wilderness this week with Moses and the Israelites to see how to repair that blown tire of sin so that our spiritual journey can move forward.
Ever taken a pit stop on your road trip? No matter how cool the rack of random trinkets is and no matter how satisfying your favorite bag of potato chips is, the pit stop isn't the promised land. The promised land (the final destination) is always better than the places we stop to refuel. And it's no different for our spiritual journeys.
We all experience pit stops, but how do we leave the pit stops and get back on track to our promised land?

Whatever generation you are a part of you have an obligation to "Help The Next Gen Win." Yes, even the participation trophy generations and the Tide pod generation. (Also, as you will see, those two accusations aren't fair assessments of those generations. Promise.)
What would the church look like if people in different generations were filled with grace and generosity for the people outside their generation rather than judgment and frustration? In Wk 1 we will wrestle with the question, what qualifies us to "Help The Next Gen Win"?

What do these things have in common?
- One more cookie.
- A faster car.
- Juicy cossip. (Gossip with a "c" - We couldn't think of another word to start with C so we improvised.)
These are all temptations that we often struggle with. How should we deal with temptations? Should we just give in to them? Are they worth fighting? If they are worth fighting, why are they worth fighting? What do we gain from slugging it out with temptation?
We think temptations ARE worth fighting and in this video Pastor Cory will give three ways to resist temptation and a vision of what hangs in the balance of that very fight.

Have you ever walked into the wrong bathroom? You take two steps in and you instantly know you're in the wrong place. That bathroom was not made for you. Either it has a couch or it has urinals and either one seems completely useless to you. That's fair because that bathroom wasn't designed with you in mind. It was made for someone else. Sometimes church can feel like that. You walk in and you instantly feel out of place. Like everyone else knows something you don't know. It's an unsettling feeling and much like accidentally entering the wrong bathroom, all you want to do is get out and never re-enter. At Redemption, we can't have that. So we exist for them - the people who don't feel comfortable at church, the ones who don't know the worship songs or the typical order of a worship service. Redemption exists for them for the sake of Jesus. Find out what we mean by that this week and next in our "For Them" series.

To simplify means to say "no" to the things that are less important in order to make space for things that are essential. Where can you say "no" to things requiring your time to make room for things that are essential?
Who is Jesus? His name (Immanuel) tells us that he is God with us. What does that mean for our everyday lives?
