"Angel of death" is a title given to more than one nurse. In fact, it has been used to describe doctors as well as nurses and others that kill within the medical field. Charlie Cullen definitely isn't alone in his killing. You are supposed to feel safe and to be cared for in a hospital, but sometimes, anything but that takes place. The stories of Orville Lynn Masters and Genene Jones, both killer nurses, are discussed in this episode of Petrafaction Horror Stories. Real Monsters are the scariest stories of all!

A 911 call is made to Somerset County dispatch in Somerset, Pennsylvania. The nature of the call was from a man who claimed to have proof of the existence of Bigfoot and he was requesting police to come to verify his claim. Police scanners all over the area picked up the conversations and the story went wild. What really happened regarding this call made about bigfoot in central Pennsylvania?

The Mojave Desert is a lonely, dry place, home the the lowest place in North America, the infamous Death Valley. But that's not what this show is about, the Mojave is also home to some weird things. Kenny Veach claimed to discover a cave in the Mojave with a perfect "M" opening, but it was strange and scared him. He vowed to return to it and share his findings on Youtube, but he never did. He disappeared, leaving behind a cell phone, but nothing more. He's never been found.
What is the Mojave Megaphone? Million dollar question because what it is...well, it's unknown. In a different story, a former Intellligence Officer announces a scientific expedition to a secret alien base in the Mojave. And if weird metal objects and alien bases weren't enough, there is also a yucca man, it's the Mojave bigfoot. Yeah, the Mojave is a weird place, full of stories.

Near the Chestnut Ridge in Pennsylvania resides a man named Stan Gordon who has been doing paranormal/bigfoot/UFO investigations since he was a teenager. These are three monster sightings he has investigated from 2012. In the first story from Stan's files, a couple think they have witnessed a werewolf in Bradford County. In the. next file, a Fayette County man sees a "dragon" flying overhead and a possible "no deer" (?) creature flies out of a creek bottom with glowing orange eyes! Calvin Parker didn't say much when he and Charles Hickson went to the police on the night of October 11, 1973. He allowed Hickson to do the talking for him and as time goes on, Parker says he has grown to regret that decision. He wrote a book in 2018 telling his side of the story regarding the Pascagoula Abduction. In recent years, others have also come forward validating the two men's story. They too had seen craft and lights in the Mississippi night sky. This is the Pascagoula case, revisited.
Sounds to me like Mothman, only this time the witnesses call it, "The Man Bat of The Mississippi."

In today's episode we cover the Flap of 1973. A UFO flap is simply a short way to refer to mass sightings and 1973 was a year completely full of mass UFO sightings. They occurred across the United States, but it wasn't an American phenomenon. Many other countries across the world also experienced several UFO sightings including the UK, Australia, Canada and others. In Memphis, after a torrential downpour, it began to rain down snakes in one part of the city. In a two block area surrounding Vance Street, there residents of Memphis experienced snake rain in 1877. It was reported in a government periodical in January of 1877 called "Monthly Weather Review" and again the following month in a national magazine called "American Scientific." The snakes were between 12 and 18 inches in length and were so thick in areas that they were described as being, "a mass of thread or yarn."

Flight 513 left West Germany in 1954, destined for Brazil. The flight should have taken 18 hours to cross the Atlantic, but it took this flight 35 years. It arrived in Brazil in 1989 carrying 88 passengers and 4 crew members, all skeletonized. Brazilian authorities have no explanations. Paranormal researchers believe it might have been a plane that went through a wormhole.

A strange discovery made in Utah in 1968 is puzzling. William Meister, an amateur fossil collector, found a rock near Antelope Springs in Utah and when he tapped the rock with a hammer and it fell open, he found what appeared to be a human footprint in the rock. Additionally, the footprint contained a fossil of a trilobite, an extinct marine animal related to present day shrimp and crabs. But they went extinct over 200 million years ago, so how did they end up in an apparent human footprint? Humans have been around a mere 1-2 million years and have worn shoes/footwear only for the past few thousand years. How is this even possible? It isn't. But the proof is literally in the rocks found at Antelope Spring. Very Intriguing!

The Bell Witch is America's most famous Poltergeist case. It began when John Bell, while hunting with his son, shot at a strange looking dog that had a rabbit's head. Shortly following this, poltergeist activity began in the home and continued for several years, ending only after John Bell's death. However, It is said the witch returned on more than one occasion. A couple purchased their dream house in Westfield, New Jersey. They did some renovating and slowly began to move into the house located at 657 Boulevard, but started to receive a series of creepy and threatening letters from "the watcher." Police were brought in, private investigators were too. Even two former FBI agents were asked to help identify who the Watcher could be, but nothing was ever definitely found out. Another horror story for new home owners, but not really a haunting in the traditional sense. Creepy, nonetheless.

Located in the Pittsburgh suburb of Brentwood stands a house on Brownsville road that tormented one family for nearly two decades. The Cranmer house was the scene of things beyond belief. They had shadow men, loud banging, slamming doors, voices, family members were bitten and scratched. Visitors also witnessed many things. PRS (Penn State Paranormal Research Society) came in to help document this case so that the Church could help with an exorcism.

Ed and Lorraine Warren said they investigated 10,000 cases of the paranormal in their lifetime. This episode is about a few of their lesser known cases. Did you know they were asked to come in to West Point Academy to investigate weird happenings there? In another case, Lorraine assisted a detective, giving clues that eventually allowed police to make an arrest. And have you heard of the Exorcist? This is a lesser known case of possession, that of a 16 year old girl who purchases a Ouija board, thinking it is only a game. And a case you may have heard of is that of the Smurls haunting. They had an evil presence in their home that followed them, even when they moved. An unsanctioned exorcism was conducted, but did not help. The Warrens helped to document this case and eventually the Vatican gave it's approval for an exorcism and the family was finally set free.

The Conjuring 2 is based upon the Enfield Poltergeist case. This episode goes into detail about the movie the Conjuring 2, about Ed and Lorraine Warren and how Hollywood differs from the real investigation of the Enfield case in 1977. In the Conjuring 2, Ed and Lorraine Warren head to London on behalf of the church to document the happenings for a possible exorcism. In real life, the investigators at 284 Green Street were from The Psychical Research team, Guy Lyon Playfair and Maurice Grosse. According to interviews later, the Warrens were there, they "popped in" for one day, uninvited, and their involvement in this case is greatly exaggerated in the Conjuring 2 movie. Ultimately, it's the story of the Hodgson family and the ordeal they went through living at 284 Green Street in North London. It's terrifying. And made for Hollywood or not, the Conjuring 2 is a terrifying movie as well. Start your haunted October off with a watch and a listen. It's a good movie and today's podcast, "The Enfield Conjuring" is pretty creepy as well! Be Petrified.

A short story about a UFO sighting reported by an officer on-duty.
The Wendigo is of Native American lore regarding a monster in the woods that devours human flesh. It arises from someone becoming a cannibal, this usually happens when a human is literally starving and resorts to cannibalism to survive. It is said it is better to starve to death than to do such things. After eating human flesh, the human is taken over by the spirit of the Wendigo and is compelled to eat ravenously. Another very good reason to stay out of the woods!

Two military buddies become obsessed with going camping. They head to Devil's Den State Park in Arkansas and what they encounter there is terrifying. There is a giant craft in the sky, there are bright lights and there are these beings in a huge field. Listen in to hear what happens to Toby and Terry. Then pick up the book and give it a read yourself. There is so much to this story, one hour on a podcast, even if it is commercial free, just isn't enough time. Read the book, it is definitely worth it.
