I've said it a dozen times - the real work begins after you finish the first draft of your book. You must put in the research to find the right editor for you, the right type of editor for your work, then learn to trust them when they make changes. But, you almost must ensure you put in the work to review and complete the galley edits before you ever relase your book baby into the world!

Thomas Umstaddt, Jr is no stranger to controversy or trolls. With running two podcasts, a very popular blog, as well as his own company, he's had his share of haters and critics. After a recent scathing review on his podcast, he decided to reshare an older podcast to help authors, new and seasoned, learn how to deal with those who might seek to break us down.

I can never make such a big decision for you. Publishing something you've poured your blood, sweat, and tears into, something you've spent years writing will require a ton of research. Please, before choosing to go through a vanity press, I implore you to research the various sources and forms of publishing before sending thousands of dollars to anyone.

We authors like to use the term "writer's block" to explain why we won't or don't write. But let's face it - Writer's Block isn't some kind of illness or disorder. It's a symptom.

As authors, our work is constantly subjected to the opinions of the public. The thing is, those opinions are simply that...the opinions of readers. In this podcast, we'll discuss a few ways to develop a thicker skin so those lower star reviews won't ruin your day!
Repeat after me - Social media is for being SOCIAL! It feels like with the invention of each new platform, we're pressured to add yet another profile, add yet another to do to our list.

Writing is not all about the words. Read that again; I’ll wait.
How, you ask? Well, Lynn is here to explain! An image on Instagram inspired this episode, but the passion behind it is all Lynn (and a little Genevieve).
Often, authors think constantly writing is the only way to be successful. But, believe it or not, actually stepping away from the keyboard can be just as beneficial! Sometimes even more beneficial than having your ass in the computer chair. Do not force your writing.
Lynn has some ideas for how to take that much needed break, and a few more mind-blowing (not really) concepts of how you can write without writing…

I don't know if I have laughed as much as I did during my interview with hybrid author, Dahlia Rose. We talked about her upbringing in Barbados, her move to the states, and her career as a writer while she balances her process of getting her doctorate in English.
Recent News: Dahlia's first book was just accepted by Hallmark Publishing with a December 2021 release date!
Dahlia Rose is the USA Today best-selling multi-genre author from Urban Fantasy to Romance with a hint of Caribbean spice. She was born and raised on the Caribbean island of Barbados and now currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her life revolves around her five kids, who she affectionately nicknamed “The Children of the Corn and her husband and longtime love who is also an honorable retired Army veteran. She has a love of dark fantasy, sci-fi, and the things that go bump in the night. With over seven dozen books published Dahlia has become a reader favorite. Not only because of her writing but her vivacious attitude in talking to her fans online and at various events. Her books feature strong heroines with a Caribbean or African American culture, which is showcased in the vibrancy of her words. Books and writing are her biggest passions, and she hopes to open your imagination to the unknown between the pages of her books.
