Raising kids has never been easy. But in recent years, research evidence indicates that parenting may be harder than it has ever been before. There are many reasons for this: an increasingly competitive culture, the decline in mental health among children and adolescents, escalating rates of depression and anxiety among parents, disconnection in relationships, and so much more.

And we are burnt out. Studies show parental burnout is at all-time highs.

How can parents be more resilient? How do we show up in a way that is good for us and good for our kids? How do we sustain the intention, the mindset, the presence, and the positive relationship our kids need to thrive when we feel like we’re going under?

Join Dr Justin Coulson for this FREE webinar as we explore the secrets to resilience as a parent. You’ll learn:

  • What Parental Resilience is and why we’re so burnt out
  • Why decreased Parental Resilience is hurting you and your family, and
  • 5 unexpected solutions to boost your resilience and make your family happier

Of all the challenges parents face in raising children, how to “discipline” a child is one of the most contentious. Everyone has an opinion about how we should be parenting. But parents are, more than ever, confused about what is ok and what is not.

Smacking is out - unless you’re part of the old-school. Yelling is the new smacking, but no one wants to yell. It feels horrible. Time-out is the discipline strategy of choice in most major parenting programs but it has major drawbacks, the major one being that it doesn’t seem to work. It seems like every disciplinary strategy has the potential to do damage, and leaves parents scratching their heads, asking “What am I supposed to do?”

Discipline done right doesn’t damage kids.

Join Dr Justin Coulson, one of Australia’s leading parenting experts, for a webinar that explodes the myth that discipline has to hurt. In this 60-minute discipline deep-dive you’ll:

  • Learn to differentiate between discipline and punishment
  • Discover why smacking, yelling, time-out, withdrawal of privileges, and grounding are lousy discipline strategies that can do damage
  • Uncover a new no-damage approach to discipline that builds relationships, improves children’s behaviour, and makes parenting easier!

In the past ten years, screens have completely upended the way we raise our children. Screens are everywhere. All the time. Social media has taken over our lives and the lives of our kids. 97% if kids are gaming. And the Internet has brought new kinds of risks into our children's lives at earlier and earlier ages.

Screens affect our boys and our girls differently. Boys are caught up in a gaming industry with hundreds of billions of dollars each year. It keeps them up at night. It creates contention in our home as sleeplessness combines with dishonesty, aggression, competitiveness, and the never ending desire for "one more game". Boys' online lives are complicated even more by the growth in gambling among tween and teen boys, and the continued rise of pornography. Boys' access to explicit content has never been easier or more common.

What can we do to help our boys manage their screen time, and manage the content they're exposed to, in safe, healthy ways?

These days "compliance" is a dirty word in the parenting blogosphere. For many people compliance means that a parent is a demanding authoritarian, expecting children to follow orders regardless of preferences otherwise. Compliance connotes coercion and intrusiveness.

As with every social media firestorm, there may be a kernel of truth to this. Compliance is not a healthy long-term objective for our children, and is not an ideal focus for our parenting.

But can we be real for just a minute?

Sometimes they just have to buckle up in the car. They actually should swim between the flags, wear shoes while riding a scooter, and stop throwing knives at their brother! These are safety issues. And they matter.

And sometimes the table does need to be cleared, the school bag put away, or the stinky sports gear placed in the laundry basket. It’s called being part of the family and learning to do your part.

So what do we do when our kids “won’t listen” and it actually does matter?

Join me for my webinar in August where you'll receive further tips and strategies which have helped me personally to:

  • Build better connection
  • Promote competence and capability in my children
  • Facilitate autonomy and intrinsic motivation, and
  • Make me feel like I’m a better parent (and person)

Did you know that...

  • your teen's brain is actually overdeveloped, not underdeveloped?
  • boys experience a neurologically related drop in empathy during their early teens, but girls don't?
  • if it were brain development that created risk-taking and sensation-seeking, your 13-year-old would take bigger risks than your 17-year-old?

So much of what we "think" we know about the teen brain is just not true. And so much that we need to know about our teenager's brain is not well understood.

The decisions your teen makes can have a deep and long-lasting impact on their life. Choices related to sex and sexuality, alcohol and other drugs, schooling, vocations, and just whether or not they'll listen to us can cast long shadows, or bring long-term happiness. As a parent, understanding your teen's grey matter, matters! You will be their greatest guide through this often tumultuous period. But believe it or not, the teen years don't have to be baffling, and you don't have to be afraid.

Join Dr Justin Coulson for an incredible webinar that looks deep inside our teenager's brains, helping us to know what's really going on in there, and what we can do to help our teenagers make safe, healthy, wise decisions.

Why do our toddlers and pre-schoolers behave in such challenging ways? Why won't they listen? Why can't they understand that when we say it's time to leave the park, it means we have to go? Why are they so stubbornly defiant? And why is it that they're still so unbelievably lovable and cute even while they're making a mess, having tantrums, and exhausting us?

Little People, Big Feelings is a FREE webinar that answers those questions - and more. In this free presentation for every parent, carer, or educator responsible for anyone under 6, we'll explore why young children are so challenging. More importantly, we'll look to science and history for answers, hacks, tips, and strategies that will help the grown ups act like grown ups when the toddlers and preschoolers are acting like... well... toddlers and preschoolers.

In this FREE webinar you'll discover:

  • The three things parents say to their kids to make things better... but that actually make things worse
  • The four central reasons our children have such big outbursts and tantrums,
  • A roadmap to staying calm under pressure, and
  • Cutting edge parenting strategies to guide your children through their worst moments and back to calm.

Little People, Big Feelings is for the stressed out, time-poor parent who didn't realise raising a monster (oops, I meant "child"... raising a child) could be so difficult!

And it will give you the solutions you need to raise your children with kindness and compassion, without the parental guilt.

Our children’s emotions can often feel challenging - for us, and for them. But studies show that if we can help our children understand their emotions, they can master them. Join me for this 60 minute webinar where together we'll cover:

  • How to recognise and understand your own emotional world (and why you must do that before you can help your children understand theirs)
  • Strategies to effective emotional regulation for yourself and your child
  • Research-backed processes that help build emotional understanding and regulation in your child
  • Solutions for getting your family out of unhealthy emotional responses to life’s challenges

How rewards and punishments hurt our kids, and what to do instead.

Punishment and reward are the foundation of discipline for most parents. Parents would prefer not to yell, threaten, use time-out, smack, or generally get the kids in trouble... but what else is there? And when it comes to rewards, they're a pain to administer. All those stickers and gold stars. Plus, why should we have to bribe kids to pick up their mess or be nice to their siblings?

The typical toolkit for parental discipline needs an update. Fortunately, smart science is pointing the way to positive parenting solutions for every parent.

Join Dr Justin Coulson for this provocative online webinar as he slays several sacred cows of the parenting world. You'll discover:

  • Why punishment is unhelpful in raising thoughtful and considerate kids

  • The reasons time-out needs to stay in the naughty corner and never come out again

  • The challenges with praise and why it can hurt children's development and growth

  • The most powerful parenting strategies to help guide your children successfully

Tween and teen girls don’t have a problem with screens. Just ask them.

They’ll tell you everything’s fine. But… ask them to put that screen away, get off social media, or stop obsessing over everything online and you’d better prepare for battle!

Of all people who use devices and screens, some researchers have found that adolescent girls are the most at risk of decreased wellbeing, friendship issues, and body image difficulties. Yet others find moderate use of devices can support wellbeing.

But is the problem the screen? Or is it something else?

In this webinar, Dr Justin Coulson (expert and host of Channel 9’s Parental Guidance) and Jocelyn Brewer (psychologist and founder of Digital Nutrition) answer your most vexing questions regarding tween and teen girls and their screens.

We’ll tackle themes including:

  • The never-ending, incessant use of screens (and why "turn it off" is not going to cut it)
  • What social media is doing to our girl's body image and wellbeing
  • Cyberbullying, nudes and screens in bedrooms
  • How to set boundaries around screens that work for you AND her.

Imagine a relationship where you felt seen, heard, and valued. One where, as your partner enters the front door after a long day out, they see you and their eyes light up. They smile as they embrace you. Later that night you work together, as equals, in the kitchen and in putting the children to bed. You spend time sharing ideas and experiences from your day and your partner listens and builds on your conversation. Your load is lightened as you carry the burdens of your day-to-day lives together.

A relationship like that is a gift. It's a relationship that has real connection - real life - in it.

But in the everyday drama and distraction of family life, sometimes we forget our partners. We don't see them, or they don't see us. The phone, the email, the kids, the messy benches, the laundry, the work commitments... they all add up, overwhelm, and crowd out the seeing, hearing and valuing.

Wherever your relationship is right now, I can help you develop a more joyful relationship that lasts a lifetime and makes it "better when you’re together". Whether your relationship is flying high and you're looking to optimise, or whether your relationship is rocky and you're looking for a foothold so you can strengthen your foundations, Better Together will give you the support you need to make your marriage or partnership better.

Parenting is hard and it’s constantly changing. We feel nervous with babies and we feel out of our depth with teens. Toddlers test us, and children in primary school simply grow up too fast. Besides, just when we think we’ve finally ‘got it!’ our child reaches a new developmental milestone and it can feel like we’re back to square one.

As a father to six girls from ages 7 to 21, Dr Justin Coulson knows this only too well. If only our children came with an instruction manual! What is normal development for infants? Toddlers? Teens? And everyone in between? Are there times we should worry? How do we know if they're growing healthy and safely? How do we know if we're raising them right?

This webinar outlines basic milestones of our children's development so you can know what "normal" is (and yes, for this webinar, there is a "normal" developmental pattern), and when you need to be on the lookout for help. Packed with insights and delights, Your Growth Guide will give you the reassurance you need, or point you in the right direction, so your child can develop strong, healthy, and safe.

When we think about parenting, science isn’t often something that comes to mind. Parenting is usually a skill we build by riding the highs and lows and doing our best to make sure our children grow up as healthy and happy as they can. But that’s not the whole story. Decades ago, behavioural researchers identified several parenting styles, each with pros and cons… and each ultimately a less effective way of raising kids.

Except one.

Despite the conversation, debate, and opinions thrown around, this “gold standard” has stood the test of time and science to stand out as the ideal style to raise children. Children who have parents using the style become more resilient, sociable, and caring people. Parents grow as much as their children. Family life becomes better for everyone.

Join Dr Justin as he goes through this blueprint for better parenting, the science behind it, and more importantly, how to use it in your family. Together we'll cover:

  • Each style under the microscope, and how to identify which is currently yours
  • A closer look at the blueprint and why it works so well
  • Behaviour “gaps” that when filled, lift your parenting to a new level
  • 3 things the best parents all do to raise resilient, confident, and caring kids
  • How to use this parenting style for yourself, starting right now!

The research is in. Educator wellbeing is low. School leader wellbeing is lower… and it’s little wonder. Behaviour challenges, students with special (additional) needs, a crowded curriculum, exams, reports. Mixed with over-reaching parents with interfering agendas, and a never-ending list of responsibilities and expectations… it’s a lot to work through.

How do you, as an educator (or leader) look after your own wellbeing? What kind of mental (and even physical) self-care do you, as an educator, need to flourish – at home, and at school?

This presentation steps you through the science of Positive Psychology in a personal, interactive, and REAL way – with a specific emphasis on the education context. We’ll dive deep into understanding and practicing the things that will (and won’t) make you feel great about life – and find improved focus and fulfilment at school.

Our kids are suffering from anxiety in record numbers.

About one in seven primary school kids experience mental ill-health. It’s one in four adolescents. The coronavirus pandemic has only exacerbated anxiety for some children. And around 25% of parents are passing their anxieties on to their children!

Educators are unfairly expected to respond to anxiety in students – without being trained in how to do this effectively.

This presentation is designed to help educators identify what anxiety looks like, and provides simple strategies that are empirically and clinically proven but don’t require a PhD in psychology to implement.

Over the past 10 years, mindfulness has become the buzzword in education. There has been a mindfulness revolution! The only thing is, many educators have not bought in. Many actively resist any talk of the new-age mumbo-jumbo fad programs that some schools have tried to “roll out” so we can all be more mindful. And as a result, mindfulness is still not a regular part of the school day for most students.

So… this presentation is for the skeptics. It’s for the educator who is unsure, who doesn’t know where to start – or why they should start. It’s for any educator who wants to know what mindfulness really is, and whether it’s for them.

The research is there. Mindfulness helps create calm classrooms where students feel better, which helps them learn better. But mindfulness in the classroom is not about everyone taking some big, deep breaths twice a day and then getting on with learning. This webinar will show you:

  • how mindfulness is less about what we do in the classroom and more about who and how we are
  • what a simple redirection of energy in tricky times can do for calm in class – for your students, and for you
  • the precise things to say in order to teach students why mindfulness matters, and how they can practice it
  • specific strategies for you to be more mindful at the moments that matter most

For so many girls, the desire to achieve is fuelled by a mix of toxic perfectionism, debilitating self-criticism, and a Sisyphean stretch to achieve the impossible benchmark of “enough”.

Statistically, young women have never been more “successful”. They do better educationally, outpacing boys in grades and university enrolment. Yet the self-imposed – and externally imposed – expectation is that more is required. On the surface, girls certainly seem exceptional, but in-depth research highlights a different reality: tween and teen girls are too often anxious and overwhelmed, expecting that regardless of what they do, they will never be smart enough, successful enough, pretty enough, thin enough, popular enough, or “hot” enough.

Dr Justin Coulson is a dad to 6 daughters and the author of Miss-Connection, a book about teenage girls. After interviewing and surveying over 400 Australian teens, he has identified key reasons girls don’t think they are enough, and his research shows a way for them to move towards happiness, resilience, and self-worth.

Deeply empathetic and carefully researched, this presentation will help girls consider their feelings about being “enough” and highlight specific strategies they can practice to move towards a positive sense of self, so that young women can do more than survive adolescence. They can thrive.

If you’re a parent, you can’t help but know the strains of raising children. And studies confirm it beyond all doubt: having children is a sure-fire way for parents to end up stressed out, spent out, and worn out. The extra pressures of living in a modern world that’s become increasingly expensive, increasingly pressured, and increasingly paranoid (thanks to the media and being overtaken by COVID-19) only amplify the challenge so many of us face every day. Lockdown pressures have only exacerbated the overwhelm.

Luckily, wellness blogs and Insta-influencers have come to the rescue! With messages about #selfcare, they proclaim that all we need to do is slow down, breathe, “be mindful”, have a bubble bath, and make special time for the things that “light you up” so you can “live your best life”. They say we should exercise more, drink more water, and get more sleep – and everything will turn out for the best.

Sadly, that’s not the reality for most of us.

In “Overwhelm: Self-Care Strategies For When Everything Is Too Much”, Dr Justin Coulson delves into the latest research to explore what self-care can really look like for busy parents who just want a chance to go to the bathroom in peace. This 60-minute webinar will show you:

  • Why our best efforts at self-care continually fail
  • Simple habit hacks that help every parent build better self-care practices
  • Evidence-based strategies parents can use even when the kids are around, and
  • The one piece of self-care advice that will change your family for the better… immediately

There may be no psychological condition more controversial and provocative than ADHD. At one extreme, we see some people say it doesn’t exist. Other’s say it’s a result of poor parenting. At the other end, people write books about “the ADHD advantage”, and how children can thrive in spite of – or even because of – this condition.

But for parents who are raising children with an ADHD diagnosis, their child’s behaviour can seem like a wrecking ball. Coping with the “war at home”, families often feel divided. Parents struggle to be on the same page, torn between loving their child and flipping out because things are out of control. And the fear of judgment from others makes finding support additionally challenging.

In “A Parent’s Guide to Raising an ADHD child”, Dr Justin Coulson will explore up-to-the-minute science on what ADHD is, why it occurs, and most importantly, what parents can do to create something at home that feels sane and balanced in an often chaotic climate.

This 60-minute webinar will:

  • Provide science-supported strategies that build parental knowledge,
  • Improve child compliance,
  • Offer family-strengthening tips to support parents, strengthen relationships, and build bonds.

Raising an ADHD child can be an experience in extremes. When times are tough it feels impossible to get through another round of chaos. This is the part everyone else usually sees - and judges. But when times are good, your heart soars. You experience your child at their best, and you wish that everyone else could see them when they're "like this"...

There's already enough to do with work, the house, the kids' routine, extra-curricular activities, personal interests, and a crowded calendar. “The Talk” has been the source of anxiety for many parents for generations. Cutesy phrases like “the birds and the bees” have become standard to avoid embarrassing discussions. Parents often rely on schools to teach their children about sex and everything associated with it.

This approach no longer works. Rather than parents, pornography has become the world’s largest sex education department. Music, movies, and other media have made it their mission to promote sex without consequences agenda, where the idea that “you and me baby, we ain’t nothing but mammals so let’s do it like they do on the discovery channel.”

And the results have been catastrophic. From high school stories of sexual assault at parties through sports and business, and up to Australia’s Federal Government, we are seeing the results of a society that is sex-saturated but lacking a basic understanding of body boundaries, respect, and consent.

This is the webinar you need so you can help your child make safe, healthy decisions when it comes to body boundaries, sex, and consent.

The mum I was speaking to was distraught. Her son was in Year 7. He had just turned 12. And he was in the Principal's office. He had been caught showing off cannabis to some friends. "How did this happen?" she asked. "He's a good kid. At least I thought he was." "What do I do now?" she wanted to know.

Our children are going to be exposed to drugs. Alcohol, cigarettes, pot and pills - and in some cases, our older children may even come in contact with harder drugs.

How do we protect them? What do we say to pre-arm them? How can we know if they're up to something? And what do we do if we suspect they're involved in drug use?

Discipline is THE most contentious part of parenting. There are so many different ideas about it and it’s confusing for parents – especially when you try a discipline strategy and it doesn’t work. Is your child just different to all the others? Or is there ‘text book’ discipline and ‘real life’ discipline?

But what if everything we thought we knew about discipline was wrong? What if we only discipline the way we do because 200 years ago, some well-meaning religious leaders created a discipline system that we still adhere to, even without understanding why we do it, and why it’s wrong?

This webinar is for every parent who has ever been so desperate to get their kids to ‘behave’ that they’ve tried Triple P, Super-Nanny, 1-2-3 Magic, and pretty much everything else out there, and still found themselves stuck. You’ll discover:

  • Why the centuries-old strategies we still cling to should be left in the past
  • How we get discipline wrong and why
  • Real world examples of discipline that are as imperfect as you and your kids, but that still work, and
  • Ideas for discipline that turn everything you thought you knew about the topic on its head.

This is one discipline webinar you won’t want to miss. Whether your child is 2 or 42 (yes, I’m talking about your partner!).

Having a child with autism or Asperger’s syndrome places unique demands on parents. Nothing seems to be quite the way it was “supposed” to be. Communication, affection, behaviour, learning, and almost every aspect of life for a non-typically-developing child and their family can present challenges. Just a simple trip to the shops – not to mention getting through over a decade of formalised schooling – can seem near impossible some days.

This webinar is for every parent or educator who wants to know how to strengthen their bond with their autistic or Asperger’s child or student. It is for everyone who has ever wondered, “What am I doing wrong?” when their child won’t calm down, communicate, hug, or look them in the eyes. It is for every parent or educator who wants to know how to manage those meltdowns on days when it feels like the sky is falling in on their beautiful child who just can’t understand why no one around them can understand.

Pretty much every parenting book or program recommends that you “catch your children doing something right and praise them for it.” You’re supposed to reinforce positive behaviour with verbal rewards – making sure it’s “effort praise” and not “person praise”. The idea is that if we pump up our child’s tyres, they’re going to be more motivated, their self-esteem will go up, and in the end we’ll have better kids.

But… that’s not what the research says. In fact, at least three or four decades of studies now confirm that praising our children may have several significant unintended consequences. It’s actually surprisingly bad!

So what are you supposed to do instead?

Join Dr Justin Coulson for this powerful, provocative webcast as he explains the science of praise, why you should avoid it, and how you can give better positive feedback to your children so they actually DO feel motivated, confident, and resilient. It will change the way you speak to your children forever.

No one enters a relationship and has children expecting it to end badly. Sometimes, however, the fairy tale doesn't last. Hearts are broken. Lives are changed.

What is well known but rarely spoken, however, is the fear that separation and divorce can be damaging to children. It's hard to "put the children first" when there is so much pain in partners and children, so many competing agendas from within the family and outside of it, and so much of life feels hard and scary for everyone involved.

When a relationship ends, does it have to signal the beginning of damage for children? Are there things parents can do to separate, divorce, and co-parent successfully? What steps and strategies can parents take to overcome their strong feelings of hurt, betrayal, and pain, and genuinely work together to do the best for their children?

Join Dr Justin Coulson for this special webinar conversation with Dr Vanessa Lapointe, a successful survivor and thriver following her own separation and divorce, as they discuss the big questions every couple in crisis considers. You'll find out:

  • How to talk to your children about what separation and divorce mean for them
  • How to get on the same page after separation when you could never get on the same page before it
  • Steps and strategies to minimise the damage divorce can do
  • Ideas to help your children thrive and be stronger through a family breakdown

Fatherhood has been undergoing a transformation in recent decades. Studies are highlighting that many more dads are involved with their children than ever before. For those children who have a safe, involved, positive relationship with their dad, the benefits are enormous.

Yet too many dads don’t know how important they really are. Or they don’t know quite what to do. Or they might just think that dadding done right is saying, “Go ask mum.”

What are they missing out on?

Join Dr Justin Coulson for this vitally important webinar, just in time for Father’s Day. We’ll tick every box as we examine how dads can be the best support, the ideal role-model, and the “best dad ever” to their kids. We’ll look at what science is telling us about the parent that is too often overlooked – or seen as an authority figure and a wallet. We’ll unpack what a bunch of monkeys can teach us about dads and the ‘harden up’ mandate. We’ll explore the masculinity myth that dads are supposed to know how to camp and gut fish. And we’ll review the research that highlights the single MOST important thing EVERY father can do for his children.

Masculinity and what it is to be a boy is currently undergoing a transformation. In the era of #metoo the unwritten laws of boyhood and manhood are being questioned… by adults. Yet playgrounds are still awash with unhelpful and unhealthy peer-enforced standards of how boys are supposed to act – towards their friends, their peers, and towards females. The playground may be the most toxic place in the lives of many of our boys (and girls).

How do we raise brilliant, beautiful boys? How do we teach them to avoid the toxic cultural norms that have forced a rigidity around what it means to be male and ‘boxed’ them into a way of being that is, too often, not consistent with who their hearts tell them to be?

We are in the business – as parents – of growing strong, caring men from these little boys. But great men don’t simply appear. They are raised from boyhood by engaged, involved, caring parents.

This webinar provides 9 evidence-based solutions for every parent who wants to raise a son to become a great man with a wholesome, generous, and compassionate heart. You’ll discover:

  • The single most important thing every boy needs to be confident in showing his caring heart
  • The most effective, research-backed process to help our boys develop empathy
  • Essential keys to establishing boundaries and limits to guide boys successfully
  • And the one element missing from too many boys’ lives that will help them live lives of purpose and goodness

It feels as though the whole world is becoming increasingly upset about who our boys are, and who they’re becoming. Our sons are being raised in a cultural melee with questions about what it is to be male at its core.

The unhealthy, unhelpful ‘boy code’ that is rampant in our children’s school environment encourages an undeniable form of ‘toxic masculinity’. This is a term that is being thrown around, triggering some and unfairly maligning almost half the planet’s population. But the truth is that there are some genuinely dangerous ideas about what it is to be male that persist, making life harder for boys and their parents.

This webinar is for every parent who wants to build brilliant, beautiful – and yes, better boys. We’ll unpack three ‘urban legends’: ideas that have become part of the culture, but that hurt our boys and the people they want to be close to.

We’ll talk about society’s inappropriate expectations for boys around image, emotional regulation and expression, and the way they respond to girls. We’ll look at the crinkles in the culture and work on real life parenting strategies to iron them out with care, compassion, and kindness.

There are so many myths and misunderstandings about how to build resilience. Parents have the best of intentions, yet some of their resilience-building ideas backfire – often without us even knowing.

This brief intro to resilience is designed to help you recognise exactly what resilience is, unpack some of the mistakes we make as parents that ruin resilience, and give us a sense of what a resilient child could look like if we could teach and practice the habits of resilience that work best.

Anxiety has become one of the leading causes of ill-health in our children. And it’s also affecting more parents than ever before. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated what was already an accelerating problem.

Can we stop anxiety? Where is it coming from? Are our kids bubble-wrapped snowflakes that just need to “toughen up” and get over it? Or is there an approach to our children’s anxiety that can build them, encourage them, and give them hope?

This webinar will provide the answers every parent needs to help their children – and even to help themselves.

Over the course of an hour, Dr Justin Coulson will help you to:

  • Recognise anxiety in your child and know how best to respond when anxiety flares up
  • Become a supportive hope-giver to your child to empower him/her to be courageous in the face of anxious thoughts
  • Uncover the research-based #1 strength your child can develop to combat anxiety and develop remarkable resilience.
  • Identify how your own anxieties could be affecting your child, and know how to manage them
  • Learn proven strategies to help both you and your child navigate and manage anxiety when things get stressful

Once you’ve participated in this webinar, you’ll have strategies that you can put into practice on the spot to help curb anxiety, build confidence, and restore resilience in your child. And if you struggle with anxiety yourself, you’ll be changed.

What are we supposed to do when our child is having a tantrum? Losing the plot? Going off their rocker?

Most of our responses - no matter how well-intended - can make things worse. We tell them to stop it, calm down, cut it out... and they don't! They get worse! We send them to their room, take the iPad... it all backfires. Dealing with little people's big emotions (and challenging behaviours) in the middle of an outburst is tough!

The tricky thing is that much of our children’s challenging behaviour (and our feeling that they are not resilient) has less to do with the behaviour we’re seeing, and more to do with the big emotions they’re feeling that we’re not quite sure what to do with.

Raising an Emotionally Intelligent Child is Dr Justin Coulson’s powerful guide to teaching children to understand and regulate their emotional world. Once they develop competence with this critical life skill, emotionally intelligent children will feel more confident, perform better at school, have healthier relationships with others, and even be physically healthier.

This presentation equips parents with a five-step "emotion coaching" process that brings together the very best in emotional intelligence research from Dr John Gottman, the Yale Centre for Emotional Intelligence, and others to build children’s resilience, increase wellbeing for the whole family, and develop healthier humans.

The difference good dads make is enormous. In the past two decades, scientists have found evidence that a good dad is not dispensable. Rather, he is critically important in the lives of his children.

The trouble is, some dads don’t know just how important they really are.

This webinar is for every dad who wants to make a positive difference in his children’s lives. And it’s for the woman who loves him too. In this webinar we’ll unpack the distinctive contributions that dads make to their children, the unique opportunities dads have to mould their children’s wellbeing, and we’ll discover the long shadow that being dad casts into his children’s lives. We’ll explore how dads boost cognitive development, social development, and even provide safety in their children’s sexual development by being positively involved in their lives.

Most of all, we’ll discuss how to be a good dad.

(Yes, plenty of kids are raised beautifully without dad’s presence, but that doesn’t mean a great dad isn’t needed. It just means they have an even more remarkable mum.)

It’s been a wild start to 2020. Fires, floods, and now a global pandemic called COVID19 – the coronavirus. And with all of the craziness, our families are being forced to adapt to a new normal; one that includes school closings, parents working from home, international border blocks preventing travel, and more.

One of the central concerns for parents is practical. How do we manage the day-to-day challenges of kids being home from school? And then there’s the psychological issue: how to help them manage anxiety related to so many unknowns? Sometimes we don’t even have answers ourselves.

This webinar is for every parent whose children have questions about the unusual times we are all facing right now. You’ll learn about the best ways to talk with our children about things we don’t know much about, how to alleviate anxiety, how to manage kids at home without going crazy, and you’ll have your questions answered, live in the webinar.

What do you do when your child is losing the plot?

On a recent coaching call with a desperate mum, her four year old crashed into the room and started screaming. She was upset about EVERYthing. I listened as Mum tried her best to calm her little one, but things only got worse.

I asked the mum to repeat a couple of sentences after me. I spoke. She repeated. Within 20 seconds her four year old was sitting happily on her lap, colouring in while that mum and I continued our conversation. Within two minutes the little one was outside playing with her big sister.

It’s not magic. I can show you how. No yelling, no threats, no bribes. Just calm, confident parenting, and a happy home.
