Life as a writer living in the Colorado mountains. Here I talk about what it is like to live as a full-time writer in a remote mountain town. The podcast will feature travel stories, discussions about freelance writing, and even the process of working on my current novel. In the wake of the pandemic, I found myself having to start all over again. Laid off from the place I had worked for the last twenty years and no job prospects in sight, I decided to take a risk and become a full-time writer. Writing has always been my dream job and an empty house at 8100 feet above sea level that had been in my family for generations gave me the opportunity to set my life in a new direction. It hasn't been without its challenges. At the risk of sounding clichéd, it has been a journey.
In this episode I talk about what I learned from a Town Hall meeting in Walden, CO where Sen. John Hickenlooper was the guest speaker and answered questions the locals had for him. One surprising thing about all of it was how little the Wolf debate entered the conversation, except to exemplify the rift between rural and urban, and how the will of the Cities is dictating the lives of the people in rural areas.

After a bit of a hiatus, I return with a new branding on the old podcast to work with my new life. I've seen things out on the road you people wouldn't believe. I believe I'm watching the American Dream unravel and most of us are too busy staring at our phones to see it. Social media, the media media, and consumerism are a nice distraction from watching it all crumble. It's hard to miss when you are standing on the outside looking in.
My journey into vanlife, traveling the USA in my skoolie with my dog, and being forced to reassess my priorities has given me a different outlook on what is happening in America. No longer stuck in a house with a roof and four walls, I am seeing all sorts of different things as I move from place to place, traveling solo, and putting down my thoughts about the whole thing.
