Owned Narrative: The Podcast

Eric Dean

9 Episodes

Hello, and welcome to Season 1 of Owned Narrative: The Podcast. What does Owned Narrative mean? Owned Narrative is the act of accepting the truth of your past. It is allowing yourself to fully accept the life you have lived, aside from the narratives everyone has created for you, to begin to write your own narrative. When does one 'Own their Narrative'?Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere.Where does the process of 'Owning your Narrative' begin? It begins within. Owning your narrative starts with reflecting on the person you are and the person you aspire to be. Why should one 'Own their Narrative'?One should own their narrative for their own sanity. To have peace within. To understand that you are not determined by your past. To know that we are all human. To know who you are... that is why you should own your narrative. Who is Eric Dean?Well, like most men, Eric is a son, a brother, and a friend. What sets him apart from most men is that he’s a knockout in all of these roles. After the roles he was born into, Eric has also assumed the roles of being a friend, an employee, and an entrepreneur. If you know him at all in any of these positions, then you know he maxes out his capacity in each one. He answers the phone with a listening and attentive ear for all of his loved ones, he shows up to work looking & smelling good and ready to give each customer their best dining experience, and when it’s time for him to show up for himself, he puts aside any excuse & gets the work done with a joyful and grateful heart. That’s Eric as he pertains to the people in his life, but who is Eric objectively? Eric is simply a good person. An honest man that keeps his word, someone with no hidden agenda. Eager to see what life has to offer, and not afraid of a challenge. Someone who loves adventure & the unknown almost as much as he loves the familiarity of his moms house, and home cooked meals. While he’s all of these wonderful and noble things, he’s also not to be taken for a fool, or overlooked. He’s sharp, quick-witted, and can be dangerous when necessary. In any room, even where he may be “unqualified,” on paper, he’s surely been qualified by God & will stand out off his spirit and charm alone. In short, I’d say that Eric Dean is a blessing. -Amina Rubie How was the idea of 'Owned Narrative' formed?Tired of being everything that everyone said he was, Dean began to dig deeper within himself by looking back at his life and his truths, the way he remembered them. Noticing definitions that he never owned up to, or simply didn't own up to anymore, he began to take control of his narrative. It was a step in living a transparent, truthful, fruitful life. Because like everyone else, he is deserving.
