(LAUNCHING JANUARY 1ST 2023) Weekly episodes where I share all the tips & tricks to successfully launching your private pay therapy practice.
Hey guys, I've had to make the incredibly difficult decision to say goodbye to the podcast (due to me completely underestimating how much time and work this would be)! THANK YOU for your support, I've learned that I love helping people on this platform. I hope to return to podcasting eventually (who knows when).
You're awesome. Take care!

You're amazing, see you soon!

This 2-minute guided meditation is perfect for calming that visceral bodily reaction you experience when your fight/flight/freeze response is activated.
I added some self-compassion to this one, cuz girl, you need it! Keep it up. You've got this.

Hey guys, this is the follow-up to last week's podcast episode where I break down the 5 remaining ways to help your brain and your body get out of fight/flight/freeze mode and complete the stress response cycle loop.
These are all things you can do on your own time (my personal favorite is the last one!). Try one, try them all, there's no right or wrong way to utilize these skills.
Also, the word I was trying to think of while recording this was CATHARTIC. Got it!
See ya next week!

Deep breathing with a long, slow exhale tells our body to slow down - literally. Our pulse, blood pressure, muscle tension, lowers. And since the mind and body are a two-way street, our brain follows suit and turns things down a notch, too. Neat, huh? Give it a try.

Back in the day, hundreds of thousands of years ago, human beings needed the fight/flight/freeze response to fight off tigers (Snakes? Bears? I dunno).
However, now that we're in 2023 and most of the dangerous forest animals are gone, that doesn't mean our stress response cycle is gone. What happens when we experience something that our brain tells us is dangerous, but we don't get to complete our stress response cycle?
Are you stuck in a stress response cycle? Do certain things "trigger" you, and you feel it in your whole body? That could be a stuck stress response cycle. Join me today as I break down it down for you and discuss how I used to FREEZE when things were ICY. Pun intended.

Let me help you dismantle the inaccurate and unhelpful story you're telling yourself in your relationship.

I open up about a rough patch in my marriage due to a FALSE story I was telling myself (as was my husband), because I want to show you the immense power of your own narrative.
We all have our own "stories we tell ourselves," which are essentially a pair of "glasses" through which we're perceiving every situation in life. It's hard to even realize these glasses are on!
We need to talk about it -- cuz I'm 99.99% sure you have some stories, and not all of them are rational -- so let's do something about it.

Let me talk you through overcoming that perfectionism cuz girl, you deserve to feel good about your efforts and your accomplishments.

Please excuse the audio issues, this one's at a bit of a lower volume today. I'm still trying to figure out my mic set-up (of course)!
Do you have some perfectionist tendencies? How shitty does it feel to constantly be shooting for something that is unattainable? Super shitty.
When you set the bar to perfection, you're setting yourself for failure (ironic, right?). Tune in this week as I share my struggles with perfectionism (and parenting) and how it made me downright miserable. And of course I was miserable -- I WAS AIMING FOR THE IMPOSSIBLE!

This one's kinda cool and utilizes visualization, so try it out when you can be alone (or where you can close your eyes undisturbed). Use this quick 2-minute pep talk to strengthen your boundaries and feel protected from those toxic peeps in your life.

Thanks for your patience on this one! All aboard the hot mess express (I will blame my never-ending cold + severe lack of technological skills for this week's delay. And also my procrastination).
I'll unpack ALL THINGS TOXIC PEOPLE: How do you determine whether someone in your life is toxic? What does toxic even mean? What do you do once you find out someone is toxic?
And my favorite part of the episode is.... I'll explain to you why you keep toxic people in your life (it's some deep sh*t today, guys. Buckle up).

Alright ladies, instead of a 2-minute pep talk today, we're trying out something new -- a 5-minute guided body scan.
I do this one all the time with my clients in session. It's a great way to check in with yourself and your body sensations, and it's pretty helpful in getting you back within your Window of Tolerance.
This one is best done when you can be by yourself and have a few minutes of stillness and uninterrupted time.

Do you ever have so much shit going on in life that you feel like you're going crazy? Do you tend to turn into an anxious hot mess, or do you disconnect and numb out from the present moment?
Enter Window of Tolerance. Your "Window of Tolerance" is coming into play on a daily basis, so it's essential that you understand what it is and how it's affecting your ability to show up in life.
There's a lot that goes into your Window of Tolerance, but I'll introduce it to you in a way that's digestible and easy-to-understand so you can be aware of your own Window of Tolerance starting TODAY.

Join me as I talk about the bad day I had yesterday (may have been related to weekend shenanigans), and the bad day I almost had today -- until I decided to turn things around.
If you're stuck in a bad day today, or you tend to have bad days every so often (and who doesn't?), this one's for you.

In this 2-minute pep talk, I guide you through taking a pause in your day so you can practice processing an unpleasant emotion.
I know, it doesn't sound like fun (.... more like miserable?). But it's only 2 MINUTES, so give it a try so you can build your confidence in feeling the hard feelings. You've got this.

Have you ever noticed that you AVOID your feelings -- particularly the unpleasant ones? Of course you have - because you're human - and probably because you learned some stuff from childhood that, turns out, isn't so helpful.
I'm going to explain WHY it is you do this, and WHAT you can do about it. Cuz sis, this whole "avoiding your feelings" thing isn't going to work out in the long-run.

If you suck at setting boundaries, this one's for you, girl (and I wish I had this wisdom 10 years ago when I was dating my crappy ex).
There are so many things about boundaries I'll be covering in future episodes -- but today, I break down exactly what boundaries are and why they are so important for you to have healthy relationships.
I cover the top 3 things you're missing when it comes to boundaries, and I can almost guarantee you're not doing #1 -- which is ESSENTIAL to feeling in control with someone who continues to push your boundaries.
Hmm... had I known #1 ten years ago, maybe my ex wouldn't have read my diary? Nah, he still would've, cuz he was disrespectful AF. I cover it all on the pod.

Girl, you are sabotaging yourself! Negative self-talk is so automatic, and we get VERY stuck in it without even realizing it. It has a massive impact on how we live our lives, how we view ourselves, and how we make decisions.
Where does negative self-talk come from, anyway? Hint: usually from childhood (for me, my self-talk of "I can't do new things" came from some sneaky experiences from my youth that include Tae Kwon Do lessons and dressing up as an Aladdin character in figure skates).
I'll break it all down for you, and I'll give you the one simple thing you can start doing TODAY (right now, actually) as a first step toward ditching the self-criticism.
