Jamie Miller, communication expert and strategist, joins me to break down what it really takes to create meaningful, trust-driven conversations that convert.

In this episode of the Loan Officer Team Training Podcast, I sit down with someone who has consistently stayed ahead of the curve while keeping relationships at the center of the business. Scott Hudspeth, long time industry leader, founder of MLO Live, and champion of authentic marketing, joins me for a candid and tactical conversation about what actually drives sustainable success in mortgage.

Scott and I unpack the evolution of MLO Live and how technology, especially AI, is reshaping the way loan officers market and communicate. But more importantly, we dig into what has not changed. Relationships still outperform transactions. Consistent communication still wins. And showing up on video still builds trust faster than almost anything else.

We talk openly about overcoming fear in cold calling, managing self-talk in high-pressure sales environments, and why most loan officers overcomplicate outreach when simple connection is often the most powerful strategy. Scott also shares the heart behind the Growth Rooms initiative and his commitment to helping new loan officers and agents build confidence, clarity, and community.

This episode is for loan officers and team leaders who want to stop chasing tactics and start building long-term relevance. Expect practical marketing strategies, mindset shifts that create resilience, and clear direction on how to stay visible, human, and valuable in a rapidly evolving industry.

In this episode, I had the absolute pleasure of talking with Dr. Shad Helmstetter about the powerful role self-talk plays in both personal development and parenting.

We explored how the words we say to ourselves, and to our children, can shape confidence, self-esteem, and overall well-being.

Dr. Helmstetter shares some fascinating insights into the neuroscience behind self-talk and how it literally programs the brain, for better or worse. Whether you’re a parent or not, this will really hit home.

We also talked about how we, as parents and educators, have a responsibility to help kids develop positive inner dialogue from a young age. Dr. Helmstetter offered practical ways to shift negative thought patterns and even walked through how to teach self-talk to children in everyday life.

The ripple effect of these conversations can be life-changing—not just for our kids, but for future generations.

This episode will speak to you as a parent, leader, or anyone who wants to create lasting impact—starting with the words we use.

It was such a meaningful discussion, and I can’t wait for you to hear it.

“The brain believes the programs it has that are strongest, it doesn’t make any difference whether they’re true or not.”

I am passionate about successful self talk and every class I teach has it. Every person I coach learns about it because it is so impactful when we use the language of success.

This week I checked off a bucket list item. I had my long time mentor in Self Talk, Dr. Shad Helmstetter, from the Self Talk Institute as a guest. His book, "What to Say When You Talk to Yourself." changed the trajectory of my life and the life of my family. I cannot wait to share him and his message with you.

It's great when you meet someone who is exactly who you thought they would be. Dr. Shad is one of the most affirming men I have ever had the honor to meet. The conversation off the mic after the recording made my year. No matter who you are, you need to hear that you have value and really matter. It couldn't have come at a better time for me.

It was a lesson once again in going for what you want and believing it can happen. Don't hold back. Go for it! Good things will happen.

“You think having an assistant is expensive, but NOT having one is what’s costing you!”

Carl White HAD to be my first guest on The Loan Team Training podcast. He and I are GREAT friends and he’s been a wonderful mentor to me in my career, including the very importance of the team you build for yourself, and who you spend time with even when you’re off the clock. In this episode, I replay my very first interview with a little context of my introduction to Carl.

Our discussion starts with Loan Officers biggest mistake when they hire a team. Bringing in a new person & then leaving them alone! “Here’s your desk, here’s your stuff, get started.”

Along the way, we talk about surviving a down market by “putting more ore on the belt” and end with hard earned lessons and the bruises they sometimes leave.
