Change often brings uncertainty. And while there is little doubt that for fans this year's AUSX Championship is going to be bigger and better than ever, the addition of rounds in NZ, Perth and Townsville, scheduling conflicts with AJMX and MXGP, and a controversial statement from Motorcycling Australia has seeded concerns amongst some riders and teams.

Mental4Moto host Pete Wolf is joined by AME's Mick Sinclair, who calls in to provide some behind-the-scenes insight into the growth of the AUSX Championship, what it takes to put such massive events together, and the logistical challenges that have accompanied the geographical expansion of the series. He also tackles a few listener questions from fans and people within the industry.

There are so many MASSIVE talking points dominating our sport at the moment.

Locally, the ProMX Championship is in full-swing. Track prep has been a hot-topic of discussion, and some big-name riders are playing musical-chairs switching bikes and teams mid-season.

The AUSX schedule for 2026 has also been announced, sparking much debate and controversy amongst the privateer riders and teams. Adding fuel to the fire, MA have issued a press-release stating the opening round of the scheduled AUSX Championship in Townsville remains unsanctioned and cannot form part of the Australian Supercross Championship due to date clashes with AJMX and MXoN.

We also dive into the AMA Motocross Championship and the Deegan/Lawrence "rivalry", the Aussie girls going to the US to race the WMX Championship, MXoN and the question marks over Team Australia, plus much much more.

Marketplace Temu Privateer Yamaha racer Seth Jackson joins Mental4Moto host Pete Wolf in the Moto Asylum, and together the boys do their best to weigh in on some of the biggest topics dominating the moto headlines without getting cancelled!

If you have an opinion on any of the topics discussed, DM me as we'd love to hear them!

We are stoked to introduce the Women in Moto Show, hosted by Charlotte Berrill, to the Mental4Moto Network.

Our first episode of the Women in Moto Show features one of the most successful female Aussie motocross racers ever - Meg Rutledge (now Meg Lincoln).

Meg has had an incredible career in the sport, amassing 4 x Australian MXW Championships and 3 x Australian Women's SX Championships. She is a 2 x Hattah winner, and has finished second in the Women's World MX Championship twice, controversially missing out in her second attempt by just a couple of points.

Now married and a mother of two, Meg has recently made a return to sport, and is creating another chapter in her moto journey.

Flying in all the way from WA and joining us in the Moto Asylum for this episode of the podcast are Charlie and Josh from The Underclass.

Several years ago, Charlie Creech, a former pro racer himself, became disillusioned about the level of support available to privateers in Australia. Along with a business partner at the time, he created The Underclass, with a mission to support Aussie riders from the grass roots level right through to the Pro ranks.

Recorded on the eve of round 1 of the 2026 ProMX Championship, Mental4Moto host Pete Wolf and the boys discuss the rise of The Underclass and the challenges of building a brand in such a highly competitive space. They also delve into the WA moto scene, the rider/sponsor dynamic and importance of building relationships in the sport, and of course the ProMX Championship.

Enjoy the show, and as always, shoot us a message to let us know what you think!

Craig Dack is one of the most prominent figures in the sport today.

As a professional rider through the 80’s and early 90’s, better known as "The Dack Attack", Dack became the first real Superstar of Aussie motocross. Five National motocross Championships, four consecutive Mr Motocross Titles, Australian SX Championships, a Supercross Masters Championship, multiple Manjimup 15,000 crowns, and he also represented Team Australia at the MX des Nations no less than six times.

For most athletes those would be the achievements of a lifetime. But not for Craig Dack. After hanging up the boots, he went on to establish Monster Energy CDR Yamaha - the longest running and most successful Factory Race Team in Aussie MX history, with more than 50 National Championships to it’s name.

Cameron Taylor is a legend of the sport.

Racing dirtbikes for over 44 years, Cam competed at a professional level all around the world from 1993-2009, winning multiple Australian MX and SX titles along the way.

More recently, off the bike Cam has been instrumental in developing the next generation of riders, both in his role as the Yamaha Junior Race Team manager from 2011-2022, and as a riding coach for over 30 years.

Today, at the age of 52, Cam still has more than enough speed to keep most elite-level riders honest, though his focus has shifted away from his own racing somewhat, to being a moto-dad to a likely future superstar of the sport.

"When the going gets tough, the tough get going". There couldn't be a more accurate way to describe the racing at Round 6 of the Penrite ProMX Championship in Canberra last weekend.

The deep, technical track was made even more challenging when the weather turned ominous, with blackening skies, torrential rain and lightening setting in for the final round of motos.

In the deteriorating conditions, it was the red plate-holders in each class - Beaton, Connolly and Kingsford that showed their mettle - with each taking another overall win and extending their respective points leads.

Join us for another episode of Between the Rounds, as Mental4Moto host Pete Wolf is once again joined by Righto Moto's Steve Hall to break down all the biggest storylines from inside the ProMX Championship and beyond.

  • Was Brodie Connolly's penalty at Appin the right call, and did the release of provisional information regarding the penalty prior to the completion of moto 2 impact Ryder Kingsford's result?
  • Was the debut of electric bikes in ProMX competition a good thing, and how might it shape the future of Aussie moto?
  • Will we see Brett Metcalfe on the gate at Gilman?
  • Is Charli Cannon's talent wasted in Australia, and if so, where should she go next?
  • The Oceania Cup was undoubtedly a great thing for Women's motocross, but should the ProMX MXW points have been scored independently of the Oceania Cup?

In this episode of the Mental4Moto Podcast we go Inside the Helmet with Aussie privateer Dylan Wood, who calls in from Texas, where he is currently chasing his dream racing AMA Supercross for the SLH Buddy Brooks Racing Team.

I've always enjoyed chatting with Dylan, so this episode was a blast to record. We cover a range of topics, from Dylan's Aussie racing career, his adventures racing AMA Supercross and Arenacross in America, "tearing himself a new bumhole", to how the racing scene in Australia could benefit from some changes.

Kicking off our first episode for 2025, ProMX Race Director Mark Hancock joins me in the Moto Asylum to talk all things moto!

The recipient of the prestigious 2024 MA Graham "Checkers" Steward Official of the Year Award, Mark is both a real character and is one of the most knowledgeable people I have met when it comes to Aussie motocross and the inner workings of the sport. It was a privilege to get to pick his brain, and even bounce around a few outside-of-the box ideas!

The Mental4Moto Aussie SX Show, brought to you by Graphics By AquaThis is our final episode for 2024, and it’s a cracker!

I call in the big-guns to cover all the biggest talking points from the AUSX Open, the SX Championship, and make some silly-season predictions ahead of the 2025 season, with Zane Mackintosh joining me in the moto asylum, and More Than Moto's Aaryn Minerds phoning in from Adelaide.

We chat with the always-colourful New Zealander Brodie Connolly to hear his thoughts following a breakout year, as well as get his best Lawson Townsend story.

Following that, the laughs continue when we speak to Wagga local, MX3/SX3 racer Cam Shaw, who also recounts some funny stories from his year of racing and the time he spent training with the Beaton's Pro Formula guys.

This was definitely one of my favourite shows from this year, so I hope you enjoy it too!

Industry Guest Michael Burns joins me in-studio for this episode.

"Burnsy", as he is better known throughout the motocross community, is a Level 4 MA official, MV accredited track-inspector, as well as the father and race-bike mechanic to talented pro-level rider Chandler Burns. With over two decades of industry experience, Burnsy has an absolute wealth of knowledge on so many of the behind-the-scenes aspects of the motocross world, and is known for his passion and dedication to improving the sport.

One of the topics we cover in-depth during the second half of this episode is mental health, and how motocross has helped us both with some of the challenges we have faced in our lives. Just when I thought that the racing in this championship couldn't get any better, Ballarat turned it on for Round 2 of the Senior Vic MX Championships last weekend, and I'd have to say that this has probably been my favourite round so far!

We were treated to outstanding track conditions once again, ideal weather for riding and with the scenic elevation of Monza Park as the backdrop, were treated to battle after battle as the riders laid it all on the line in their quest to be the number one in the state.

Recapping all the action from this round, I have Dean Mosig calling in to co-host, and we also get a couple of the riders on the line - Oskar Kimber and Kye Little - to tell us about their races.

This is our very first episode of “Going Off Track”, where we explore controversial, innovative, and often spicy moto-related topics!

For this episode, we cover five big questions -

  1. Should Vince Friese be permanently banned from racing?
  2. Will the emergence of electric motorcycles result in a "Dark Age" for MX?
  3. Should ProMX award points down to 40th place?
  4. Should voice comms or a bar mounted light system be utilised in MX and SX?
  5. Could Austin Forkner's injuries at Arlington SX have been avoided?

Joining me in the Moto Asylum to go deep, deep, deep are former team-manager and long-time moto journalist Stephen Tuff, moto sales-executive and veteran racer Dean Mosig, and Pro MX2 racer Zane Mackintosh.

This format is all about promoting open dialogue and having a few laughs along the way. And while we may not be able to solve all of the world’s problems, just maybe we can come up with some ideas that get people talking, and possibly even result in positive changes to the sport!

Joining us in the Moto Asylum for EP22 is Industry Guest, Mitch Worrell.

It was a blast having Mitch in-studio to record this episode. We chat about his current role as a riding coach for the highly regarded Lee Hogan Building Champions Program, and the responsibilities that come with mentoring the next generation in a high-risk sport. But that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Mitch has so many stories to tell of his time involved in motocross - from growing up with a track at home and a house full of bikes, the influence of BMX on his riding, training at MTF with Colleen Millsaps and working with Yarrive Konsky and the Firepower Honda Team in the US, to some of the pretty horrific injuries he's suffered.

We also take a deep dive into some of the mental health aspects of the sport, such as the pitfalls of trying to live up to an "image", and the many ways that motocross promotes personal growth.

One of my favourite episodes so far - be sure to check this one out.

Calling in all the way from South Oz for our first episode of 2024 is Elijah Wiese, one of the most popular and respected privateers in Australia.

As a bit of a podcasting veteran himself, there's no "dead air" in this episode, as we delve into a range of big topics, including the challenges of "making it" on the Australian MX scene, what it was like for Elijah to be a part of the official 2023 AUSX media program, coaching for the renowned Oates MX Rider Development Program, the competitive world of moto-media, and some of the amazing filming projects he has recently had the opportunity to take part in.

We also discuss Elijah's career to date, including his (somewhat rough) 2023 season, and his plans moving forward, both on and off the track.

From here on in, we'll be releasing episodes weekly for the rest of the year, so have a listen, and let us know what you think of the episode!

Chandler Burns – another amazing privateer, who is also on the Mental4Moto Rider Support program for 2024, joins me in studio for this episode of "Inside the Helmet".

Chandler, at just 23 years of age, is almost a bit of a veteran of the MX2 and SX2 class, and you only need to watch this guy on a dirt bike for a couple of minutes to realise that he is amazingly talented. If he is able to stay healthy and gain some momentum, I honestly think he has the potential to be right up there banging bars with the very best riders in the MX2 and SX2 class.

This episode closes out our first year of doing podcasts, so thank you to everybody that has supported us so far. We look forward to continuing the Mental4Moto journey and going even bigger and better in 2024!

Our guest for this episode – Jeremy Waters – is one of the newly announced Riders on the Mental4Moto Rider Support Program for 2024.

This year, Jeremy had his first taste of racing at a professional level, entering one round of the ProMX Championship in Maitland in the MX2 class, and racing two rounds of the Australian Supercross Championship in Adelaide and Newcastle in the SX1 class, which is where I first met him in person.

Speaking to Jeremy in the pits, I couldn’t help but like the dude – he is the true definition of a privateer, and you only need to chat to him for about 2 minutes to realise that more than anything else, he just loves to race his dirtbike.

Well, that's the 2023 Aussie Supercross Championship in the bag, and what a season it has been! In this episode, we catch up with Mick Sinclair to talk about how it went from the promoter's perspective, and find out what AME might have in store for us for 2024.

We also get Dylan Wills on the line to chat about THAT PASS on Vince Friese and the response he's had since! On top of that, we break down each round of the Aussie Supercross Championship and what it was like for Willsy racing as a WSX wildcard at Marvel Stadium against some of the best riders from around the world. What was planned to be a short 15 minute interview ended up blowing out to 40 minutes of awesome moto content and one of my favourite interviews so far. This is definitely an episode you don't want to miss out on!

Justin Carafa is a guy that nearly everyone in the motocross paddock knows or knows of – and for good reason. He started his professional motocross and supercross career 18 years ago, and though he’s a bit more selective these days about the races he does, he can still keep up with some of the fastest riders in the country.

Over the course of his career, Justin has raced motocross, supercross and offroad events at the highest levels in Australia, and spent several years racing both indoors and outdoors in Europe. The riders he has gone bar to bar with on the track includes some absolute icons of the sport, and it’s a privilege having him here in Moto Asylum with me to record this episode of Inside the Helmet.

With the 2023 Aussie Supercross about to kick off in Radelaide, joining me in studio for this episode is one of the key players pulling some of the strings behind scenes – General Manager of AME – Mick Sinclair.

Mick’s been putting out a bunch of media over the last few weeks, giving updates on the range of great initiatives AME have cooked up for the 2023 Championship, which is looking to be just the first step in a bright new era of Aussie Supercross. We’ll of course be touching on not only what those initiatives are, but also the reasons behind how and why they came about.

In addition to his work on this year's Aussie Supercross Championship, Mick’s spent the last two decades working with moto-industry icons such as Crusty Demons of Dirt, Nitro Circus, Fox Australia, Peter Stevens Harley Heaven and the World Supercross Championship (WSX). So we'll be chatting about all of those things, and get to learn a bit about Mick and his journey leading up to his current role in the industry.

Joining me in-studio for this episode of Inside the Helmet, is Zane Mackintosh.

There are plenty of laughs as we discuss Zane's experiences living the motolife, his first season racing the MX2 class of the ProMX Championship and his preparation for the upcoming Aussie Supercross. We also breakdown the cost putting together a program to race the whole series as a privateer, and how to make it a sustainable career.

As well as being a rider, Zane is clearly also a fan and student of the sport, so we delve into all of the other things that are currently happening in the wider moto scene - from Motocross of Nations, the unanswered questions about the "World" Supermotocross series which kicks of this weekend, and the awesome news regarding the World Supercross Championship.

Hope you enjoy it!

This is show #14 of the Mental4Moto podcast, and joining me in-studio for this one is another cool industry guest and just plain rad human, Dean Mosig.

Dean has been around the motocross scene for much of his life. His primary role in the industry for the past 6 years has been as a Senior Sales Coordinator and Yamaha Brand Ambassador at Peter Stevens Motorcycles. On top of this, Dean is also a certified riding coach, content creator, and was recently invited to take part in product testing for the new Yamaha E-MTB, as well as the soon-to-be released Stark Varg E-MX bike.

As a rider, Dean is a long-time MX1 A-Grade motocross racer, former National-level supercross racer, and now at 32 years of age, just raced his first ever ProMX National in the 30+ class at Coolum in QLD.

Over the course of this episode, Dean shares some of his insight into the industry and we also discuss some spicy topics - on occasion even going down the rabbit hole a bit! From the evolution of electric motorcycles, the mental benefits of riding, motorcycle sales during and post-COVID, the monetization of digital content, media coverage of the sport, the local racing scene, ProMX, Supercross and WSX, and much, much more.

In this episode we go Inside the Helmet with privateer WBR Yamaha, Oates MX rider, Braeden Krebs.

At 19 years of age, Braeden is in his second year of racing professionally in the absolutely stacked MX2 class. He's had some decent results so far, and is looking to end the year on an even stronger note as he steps up to the MX1 class for the remaining two rounds of this year's ProMX Championship.

During this episode, we cover a lot of interesting ground, including the challenges that privateer riders face racing on the National circuit, the importance of confidence and the mental aspects of racing, and what it's like training under Jades Oates as part of the Oates MX program.

This year, the hotly contested Penrite ProMX Championship’s MX3 class has seen the emergence of a new generation of future Aussie motocross superstars.

One of those prospects is T-Dub Husqvarna’s Liam Owens. At just 15 years of age, Liam achieved overall podium finishes at rounds two and three of this year’s Penrite ProMX Championship. This caught the attention of the French-based Bud Racing Kawasaki outfit, who invited Liam to come to Europe to race two rounds of the MXGP’s European Championship in the EMX250 class as part of the team.

We catch up with Liam to talk about his experiences racing overseas, the rising pool of talent in Australian motocross, and Liam’s goals, under the guidance of his mentor, experienced MX1 legend Todd Waters, to one day earn a full-time ride in the MXGP’s premiere class.

I’m genuinely excited to bring you our Industry Guest for this episode, Stephen Tuff, who has joined me here today in the Wolf Den.

"Tuffy" started out his career in the industry working for the biggest dirt-bike print magazine in the country – Australasian Dirt Bike, or ADB as it is more commonly known, way back in 1998.

Since then, Tuffy’s 20-plus year career in the industry has been diverse. A long-time motocross and off-road motorcycling journalist, his career has also seen him working as a photographer, assistant editor, brand manager, and more recently, a bike tester. He’s also remains a regular contributor to ADB.

Tuffy’s role has largely been that of a story-teller, using his talents to bring to life stories about events, bikes and other riders, through his words and photos.

In career that has been largely focused on shining the spotlight on those around him, though, the adventures that Tuffy has had in the process, the people he’s met and worked with, and the places he’s been, make his own story just as cool and interesting as anyone he’s covered as a journalist throughout his time in the industry.

In this episode of the Mental4Moto podcast, we go "Inside the Helmet" with Maddy Brown.

A three-time Aussie Women’s MX Champion, we chat about how she got into the sport, what motivates her, and what it was like heading over to Europe to race the FIM World Motocross Championship earlier in her career.

Maddy also gives us her thoughts about the calibre of the current ProMX WMX class, the improving media coverage, and some of the challenges of putting together a program to race the National series.

In this episode of the Mental4Moto ProMX Breakdown Show we cover all the juicy topics arising from the Round 3 mudder that took place at Wodonga on April 16th.

We get New Zealand motocross legend, Cody Cooper, on the line to give us his thoughts about this year's championship so far, and chat about his amazing career. At 39, Cody's perspective on the sport is refreshing, and certainly a little different to most other younger riders!

We also speak to the reigning MX1 Champion, Aaron Tanti, about his rollercoaster of a season. Tanti came into Wodonga with the red plate, riding a wave of confidence, but after a bike failure in moto 1, finds himself with a 28 point deficit to make up heading into Round 4. Can Aaron put it on the top step of the box again this weekend at Maitland, like he did last year, and start clawing his way back into title contention?

Once again, Deathgrip Products' Travis Coward joins me as cohost in the 'Wolf Den" for this episode, which is jam packed with laughs, and plenty of controversy!

With Round 3 of the 2023 ProMX Championship fast approaching, we take a look back at some of the action from the first couple of rounds at Wonthaggi and Appin, and chat about what we might expect to see when the championship riders hit the track at Albury Wodonga this weekend!

We also catch up with a couple of the privateer riders that competed up at Round 2 - Cory Watts (MX1), and Memphis Trevena (MX3), to hear about their experiences and talk about some of the other things that they have planned for later in the year.

A big thanks to my co-host for this episode - Deathgrip Products' Travis Coward, who came down to the "Wolf Den" to record with me in-studio.

This episode is dedicated to the memory of 20-year-old Brayden Erbacher, who tragically lost his life while racing at round 1 of the ProMX Championship in March of this year. The impact of his loss hit hard throughout the whole moto community.

Our industry guest in this episode is Travis Coward, founder and owner of Death Grip gloves.

If you are a bit of a gear nerd like me, I think you’ll like this episode, as we take a deep dive into the world of motocross gloves, and how Trav came up with the idea for Death Grip.

We also chat about the impending start to the AMA supercross season, the three Aussie riders set to do battle against the US riders in the West Coast 250 class this weekend, and make some predictions about which riders will rise to the top of the 450 class in 2023.

I’ve raced motocross against Trav and the banter we share on the track naturally made it's way into the studio. I hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as we enjoyed recording it!

Mental4Moto is a new, Australian-based motocross and supercross podcast.

To kick things off, I thought I’d let listeners know what we are about, what we have planned and our goals and aspirations for the Mental4Moto podcast.
