Bios:Dr. Andrea D. Ellinger is Emerita Professor of Human Resource Development in the Soules College of Business at The University of Texas at Tyler. She has received several teaching, research and service awards during her career, including The Outstanding HRD Scholar Award for 2012 from The Academy of Human Resource Development. She is a former editor of Human Resource Development Quarterly and currently serves on multiple editorial boards. Andrea has an extensive publishing record and has presented her research regionally, nationally, internationally. Dr. Jenni Jones is an Associate Professor in the Management and Leadership Department at the University of Wolverhampton Business School. - Dr. Katie Bailey is Professor of Work and Employment at King's Business School, King's College London where she is also Head of the HRM & Employment Relations Group. Katie is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, RSA and Higher Education Academy, Academic Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and Honorary Fellow at the Institute for Employment Studies. - Dr. Ciara Nolan is a Lecturer in Management, specialising in Human Resource Management, in the College of Business, Technological University Dublin City Campus. - Dr. Michael Mustafa is Associate Professor of Entrepreneurial Management and Head of School for the Division of Applied Psychology (DOAP) at University of Nottingham Malaysia. Prior to being an academic, Michael was a professional army officer in Australia for a decade were he worked extensively in the area of Training and development. Michael has published numerous articles and books related to human capital management and development in family firms throughout the Asia-Pacific. - Dr Heather Short is a learning consultant and teaches at The Open University on the Senior Leadership Masters Degree Apprenticeship and MBA programs. Previously she taught a range of business and management topics, specialising in HRD, at the University of Portsmouth. Her many years of experience in business include several years setting up and running her own Small and Medium Enterprise (SME), taking it from a £45 investment to a multinational organisation. - Dr. Mesut Akdere is Professor of Human Resource Development and the interim associate dean for research at Polytechnic Institute at Purdue University. - Dr Cheryl Brook is Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Portsmouth. She is a former senior manager having worked in the National Health Service and the third sector prior to moving into higher education. She completed her PhD in management learning at University of Lancaster in August 2010. Her thesis was on the development and practice of action learning in the UK NHS. Cheryl’s research interests include action learning, work-based learning and employee volunteering. She has published in a range of journals including Human Relations, Human Resource Development International, Teaching in Higher Education and the European Journal of Training and Development. He was recently elected to the Hall of Fame of the Academy of Human Resource Development, USA and has won numerous awards for publications as well as journal editing.
- Dr. Holly Hutchins is a scholar, leader, and teacher in the area of Human Resource Development. She just recently assumed the role of Vice Provost of Faculty Success at the University of North Texas. Prior to this position, Holly was Professor and Department Chair in the College of Technology at the University of Houston. Holly’s research has focused on training transfer, crisis management, and more recently, faculty talent development. Holly’s research has been featured in multiple peer-reviewed journals and across global media outlets such as NPR, the BBC, Psychology Today, and The Guardian. Marilyn is a recognized social justice scholar/educator and subject matter expert. In 2020, she received the Academy of Human Resource Development's Critical HRD Scholar award. In addition, Dr. Byrd's research focuses on theorizing the leadership experiences of Black American women.
- Dr. Yonjoo Cho is Associate Professor in the Department of Human Resource Development at the University of Texas at Tyler and Editor-in-Chief of Human Resource Development Review. Previously, she was Associate Professor in the Department of Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University (IU). Before joining IU, she worked in profit, non-profit, and academic sectors in South Korea. Yonjoo’s research interests include action learning in organizations, HRD, and women in leadership. She has published three books, the most recent being Korean Women in Leadership. Yonjoo served as a board member of the AHRD and serves on the editorial board of four journals. She also serves with the Korea Action Learning Association.
- Dr. Torrence Sparkman is Associate Professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology in the Saunders College of Business. Torrence transitioned into academe after working as an executive recruiter and minister. As a member of the management department at Rochester Institute of Technology, he teaches Human Resource Management and Human Resource Development. Torrence’s research primarily focuses on diversity and inclusion, and leadership development. She is the former editor-in-chief of Human Resource Development International. and she recently received the Laura Bierema Excellence in Critical HRD award from the Academy of HRD. Her book 'Critical Thinking in HRD', co-edited with Dr Sharon Turnbull, was one of the first texts to introduce critical theory to HRD.
- Dr. Tomika Greer, resides in Houston, TX, where she teaches and conducts research in HRD at the University of Houston. She has extensive experience in corporate training, learning, and development across several industries. Bios:
- Dr. Richard A. Swanson is Professor Emeritus of Human Resource Development and Adult Education at the University of Minnesota where he served on the faculty for 25 years. Following that tenure, he served as Distinguished Research Professor of Human Resource Development and The Sam Lindsey Chair in the College of Business and Technology, University of Texas at Tyler. Dick has published extensively and has consulted with organizations around the world. He is the founding editor of two journals, and one of the Academy of Human Resource Development founders where he also served as an early president. Dick was inducted into the HRD Scholar Hall of Fame in 2004 and into the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame in 2001.
- Dr. Linda Perriton, from the University of Stirling in Scotland, is originally from Australia and started her professional life in UK financial services, working first as a plant and engineering underwriter before joining a short-term technology-based training project that was her gateway into management development and coaching. She gained her PhD as a mature student in 2001 and switched to a career in higher education. Linda’s main area of teaching and research interest is learning and development, specifically critical approaches to reflective practice and management education. She also writes on the topic of how women have historically acquired training in management, looking at practice as far back as the 18th century.
