Let’s be honest - the doctrine of the Trinity is confusing! No matter how deep you dive, how theological sounding our language is, understanding the three-in-Oneness of the Trinity is hard! We may not have all the answers, but we’ll do our best to un-muddy the Trinity waters a bit this Sunday. Or - we will just be ok leaving the Mystery of God as a mystery! Either way, come and join us!
We all have tasks that we like to do. Most of them, maybe even all of them require us to come back to them over and over again to keep doing them. For example: we can do the dishes in the sink one night, only to have to come back and do them the next night again! Is there any task that is a one-and-done task, never to be done again? The book of Ruth is a beautiful story, demonstrating God’s activity in the everyday lives of a seemingly random family in the Bible. What we learn from digging deeper into the story is that there really isn’t anything ‘random’ about what goes on in the story. God’s fingerprints are covered in the ink that narrates this story!
Today, we kick off a sermon series looking at the Beatitudes. Our short text (Mt. 5:1-2) shows us just how significant and important what Jesus is about to say really is. We dive deeply into two verses that most people usually just rush right by to get to the #BLESSED!!
When we finally decide to open our mouths and talk, it is critical that we hear (and adhere to) the prayer of the psalmist in the final verses of Ps. 19. When we are aiming for our words and thoughts to be pleasing to God, what comes out points to HIM and not at us!
God's instructions/decrees/commands/laws are not shackles that bind us from the fun things in life. They are things that free us to live the most joyous, fulfilled life that God knows we need.
