One of the most common families will ask when moving into a new neighborhood is “How are the schools?” This can be a loaded question that a realtor must answer without bias, but at the same time, the answer could make or break your deal. Today, we begin a new initiative on The Marc Guzman Podcast Experience where we skip the middle man and go right to the schools themselves to get the info you want. My guest today has been the principal at Pinole Valley High School since the start of the 2013 school year. Prior to that, he spent 20 years with the Richmond School district. So please join me in welcoming to the podcast, Principal Kibby Kleiman.

The Richmond Craneway was once used to manufacture Ford trucks, and during World War 2 was a hub for ship building. Today though, it plays host to the Richmond Craneway Craft Fair. For 47 years, the Craneway Crafts Fair has provided local and amateur Bay Area artists a place to showcase their talents and works of art for all to enjoy. This is KPFA’s largest fundraiser event of the year and after moving the event from San Francisco to Richmond, CA, they immediately doubled attendance. None of this would be possible without our guest, Jan Etre, who for the past 29 years has made this crafts fair possible.

Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive, degenerative disease that causes the brain to stop producing dopamine, which plays a key role in brain-to-muscle communication. There is no cure. During the 1940s the United States faced a global war. While the soldiers were overseas, a large number of individuals on the home front banded together to build the ships, planes, and facilities needed for the global war and to keep our country running. Many of these extraordinary individuals were women working in engineering, sciences, shipbuilding, flying planes, health care and many other occupations. Eventually, the image of Rosie the Riveter was developed. Marsha Mather-Thrift is the Executive Director of the Rosie the Riveter Trust located in Richmond, CA. Marsha joins me on this episode to explain Rosie the Riveter and the Rosie Rally & Home Front Festival on August 12, 2017, to break the Guinness World Record (again) of the most people gathered at one time dressed as Rosie. Approximately 4,600 people are diagnosed with a form of cancer every day in the United States. Beating cancer is tough on its own but many are not aware of the battle survivors face after cancer treatment. Fear of reoccurrence to anxiety and depression, from financial difficulties to concerns around sexuality. Cheryl Krauter joins me with her latest book, Surviving the Storm: A Workbook For Telling Your Cancer Story. We discuss her work as a Writer, Speaker and Existential Humanistic Psychotherapist. This episode provides many useful tips and resources and we also taste a 2014 Morgan Winery Albarino. Guest: http://www.cherylkrauter.com/. Wine: http://bit.ly/2vrlFIR. Book: http://amzn.to/2vrLmsE.

Whether we are trying to have retirement funds, transfer assets upon our death, or make safe investment choices, it is clear that most of us need guidance. My guest is Joe Gavazza, owner of Gavazza Associates Wealth Management (San Francisco, CA). We drink a 2011 K Vintners Milbrandt Syrah ($60), discuss types of advisors, marijuana stocks, and how to get started on building a solid financial plan. Guest Website: http://bit.ly/2tFba0D.
