A lot of people in their lifetime will suffer from at least one form of addiction. Some are more obvious and widely spoken about while others carry a huge stigma so not openly discussed and so many suffer in silence. Today we will talk about pornography addiction, its negative impact on the lives of addicts, its prevalence among young children, and the journey to recovery.

Research suggests that the average age at which young people first encounter pornography is around 11 years old. A study published in the journal Pediatrics in 2011 found that around 42% of young people aged 10-17 had viewed pornography online.

Pornography addiction can have several negative effects on an individual's life. These can include:

  1. Distorted views on sex and relationships
  2. Decreased productivity
  3. Negative impact on mental health
  4. Strained relationships
  5. Legal problems

And many more!

If you think you or your child may have a pornography addiction, connect with Joshua. There are many resources available and you don’t have to go on this journey alone.

Joshua Shea is a pornography addiction coach, certified betrayal trauma coach, and the author of three books about pornography addiction. There are a number of things you can do to ensure that your marriage does not become another statistic.

Research has shown that the rate of people being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes has been rising across the globe and in particular amongst little children.

Raising children is one of the most rewarding yet difficult things in the world, add type 1 diabetes, and everything changes. The emotions can range from anger to fear to joy and many others in between. Having the right information and support can lighten the load as you learn to navigate this new life for you and your child.

Through a process of transformation involving therapy, acceptance, and experimentation, she became a much calmer parent, allowing her to cope better than she’d imagined when the teenage years hit.

Helen now produces her own podcast Teenage Kicks, to help other parents support their teenagers’ mental health. She is also an award-winning blogger.

As a black woman and immigrant from Nigeria now living in Canada, I’m very familiar with some of the systemic barriers and challenges we have to face both at work and in society. The journey to leadership positions is a difficult battle where very few succeed and others are discouraged to even try. This glass ceiling still exists even with all diversity and inclusion programs becoming the new buzzwords and many companies claiming to be more inclusive and equitable.

But, Are they doing enough? Are there things you can do personally to empower and support you on your journey to the top?

Well, Let’s hear from our guest today.

Dr. Marisol Capellan is the Founder and Director of Transformational Coaching Certifications at The Capellan Institute. She is an internationally recognized and award-winning educator, coach, and TEDx speaker. A former lecturer at the University of Miami, a leadership and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion speaker, trainer, and executive coach.

As an Afro-Latina, mother, and immigrant she has faced and witnessed many of the institutional and systemic barriers and biases that Black women face in their career trajectory to leadership roles, which sparked her passion for women’s empowerment and the need to increase the representation of women in positions of power.

She is currently writing a book, “Leadership is a Responsibility”. In addition, her personal story of resilience has been featured on CNN where she discussed how her mindset helped her overcome homelessness at 17.

Men are from mars and women from Venus was the title of Dr. John Gray’s book which shaped many relationships and tried to explain the difference between men and women and how they can co-exist. Did it help? Maybe, but as we look at today's world, we find so many unhappy couples, shattered dreams, and broken homes.

However, The desire to connect intimately is still very rife as you can see by the number of people fervently swiping on dating apps. And then the cycle repeats with challenging relationships and more breakups.

So far, in my opinion, The focus has always been on women to learn and do better but today we take the focus off women and look into the men and why many are unhappy and lonely.

Our guest today is  Dr. Avrum Weiss. He is a psychotherapist, an award-winning author, and a teacher.

His decade-long work on understanding the internal lives of men culminated with his recently published bestseller “Hidden in Plain Sight: How Men’s Fears of Women Shape Their Intimate Relationships”.
