This week im talking with the lovely Anni! She was so generous with her time! I saw her working at the 45 downstairs emerging  artist show and feel in love. And then talking to her was legit pure joy!

Anni Hagberg is an emerging visual artist and ceramicist based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. Hagberg’s practice investigates material agency through the ceramic firing process, and she is particularly interested in combining waste matter with traditional ceramic components to explore unpredictable material encounters.

Hagberg has completed a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) in 2020 and is currently undertaking a Master of Fine Art (Research) at RMIT University.

This week I’m speaking to the wonderful Nicholas Currie who is an artist, performer and writer! Pre lockdown I spotted nick around VCA and then saw his work on insta and I was hooked!  It was really insightful talking to Nick, he was very open and frank and also made me laugh a lot. He has an upcoming show at black dot, but with covid the dates are unsure so PLEASE go follow him so you get to see his amazing work.

Nicholas Curries' practice is autobiographical and introspective to his cultural identity as a mixed Indigenous and Anglo Saxon Australian man in contemporary society.  Curries work are large nonfigurative works based on gestural movements of the body used in dance, manual labour and sport. Curries figurative work is a mixture of blak masculine family imagery and still life’s.  Currie uses visual language in his paintings to tell stories and invoke conversations on how who we are.
