When we hear about someone’s journey from beginning to end, we realize that they aren’t that different from us and that gives us the confidence to pursue our dreams.

In this episode of The Hero's Journey Podcast, Michael Landsberg chats with Vishaal Bedi to talk about his journey from getting kicked out of University, hosting the hit sports talk show Off the Record, the 2010 and 2012 Olympic Games and his personal battle with depression leading to the creation of #SickNotWeak.

This talk is real, vulnerable and we go deep into why failure can be the best thing that ever happens to you, the importance of having self-awareness and dealing with depression.

One of the best-known personalities in Canadian broadcasting, Michael Landsberg started with the TSN since the network’s inception. He hosted Off the Record from its debut in 1997 to its finale in 2015 and also co-hosted of TSN’s First Up. Twice nominated for the Gemini Award for Best Host or Interviewer in a Sports Program or Sportscast, Landsberg was the Whistler Host for Olympic Daytime on CTV during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. During the London 2012 Olympic Games, he anchored TSN’s Olympic Daytime.

Michael is an ambassador for Bell Let’s Talk, an initiative raising awareness about mental health, and the founder of #SickNotWeak, a charity that reframes mental illness as a health issue, rather than a character flaw. The foundation serves as both a resource and community for people living with mental illness, and those who wish to support their loved ones.

In this episode of The Hero's Journey Podcast, the coach himself Jack Armstrong chats with Vishaal Bedi to talk about his journey from coaching the Niagara Purple Eagles in New York to becoming a broadcast analyst for TSN and the Toronto Raptors. Jack shares why it’s important to develop real human relationships with the people you work with and how to uncover what you’re passionate about.

Jack Armstrong enters his 24th season with the Raptors organization, and will serve as the analyst on all TSN and TSN 1050 Toronto games.

In addition to his duties with the Raptors, Jack is a studio analyst at TSN for the NCAA Tournament, NBA Finals and NBA Draft; and a television analyst for NCAA basketball on CBS Sports Network, Comcast, Empire Sports Network, Fox Sports, MASN TV and New York/MSG

He has been nominated by the Canadian Screen Awards for Best Sports Analyst in a Sports Program or Series four times (2017-20), winning on three occasions (2017-19). He was also nominated for an Emmy for his work on Liberty telecasts on MSG TV Network during the 2002 season.

In the college circuit, Jack served as an assistant coach at Niagara University for one season before being named head basketball coach of the Purple Eagles while also serving as assistant athletic director.

Jack had his most successful season in 1992-93 when he led the Purple Eagles to a 23-7 record. The accomplishments earned him Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and New York State Division I Coach of the Year awards. Despite his success on the court, Armstrong is still most proud of his 100 per cent player graduation rate during his stint as head coach.

Karel is the director of design at IBM and responsible for IBM’s global design leadership, design culture, design profession and external engagement. Karel helped found a new IBM Design program which included Enterprise Design Thinking to IBM product development laboratories worldwide.

Karel has written over 100 conference and journal publications, a book entitled "User-Centered Design: An Integrated Approach" and contributed chapters to other edited books. He is a frequent keynote speaker and panelist at industry conferences and on university campuses.
