We, as women, put so much pressure on ourselves in many aspects of our lives. But unfortunately, a lot of these pressures have the ability for us to experience shame or guilt. Today I discuss specifically "mom guilt" as I tell a very hit home story. But why do we feel this shame or guilt?

In today's episode, we will discuss women's characteristics, how they correlate to the mind, and how we are programmed to be. We will also discuss how to identify the source of our shame or guilt and work through it to become better versions for our littles to mirror.

I really don’t think we speak enough about the everyday experiences of women–why isn’t it common knowledge that we can get pregnant or that our sound and smell change while we’re on our period? For a long time, it has been frowned upon to speak about these topics openly and share our different experiences to help ease that time of the month for women. Well, this week, I am bringing some light to the topic with a fun facts episode strictly on women’s menstruating cycles. I am getting open and honest about my experience, and how it changed for me once I understood better.

Perspective may be the very thing holding you back in life. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “life is working for you,” well I want to do a quick correction today and say that life isn’t working for us or against us, life is just working, and it’s our perspective that alters the direction of our life. So today, I am chatting more about this and how our perspective influences us and gives us the results of our life, whether it’s what we desire or not. It’s about creating ownership + responsibility around our own lives and having the courage to look inward and get clear on how we view our world to make a change.

Often we can be so caught up in thinking about where we’re “supposed to be,” that we forget to take the time to be. To settle into moments of who we are, and the things we truly love–not the things we’re told to love. I want to invite you to take some time this week to settle into a moment with me, to take a listen to this week’s Be Bold episode.

You know, when all we do is look forward, we’re not actually BEing or taking a moment to find joy. And how can we ever receive more if we aren’t grateful for what we have? And how do you express gratitude for what you have if you never take time to soak in it? Today’s episode is inviting you to let go of the plan and lean more into life. Clear your head, and listen–what are you hearing?

My goal for the podcast in 2023 is to help you and encourage you to feel more “in place” than you ever have before. I desire for more of us to step outside the mold we’ve tried to fit into for far too long, stand out as we are, and take pride in that. To be willing to care for and love ourselves as the main priority. It’s time we stop treating ourselves like garbage cans and challenge ourselves and those around us to become better. In today’s episode, you will find my three tips for becoming your most authentic self in 2023. So, go out there and make it a great year.

This time of year, we hear so much about creating goals for the new year, what do you want it to look like and how will implement all your desires? And I don’t want to say this is bad, it is a great habit to dream forward and create plans. But what I do want to recognize is time to celebrate and recognize yourself for your past year’s accomplishments. Because if you’re never grateful and appreciative of who you are now and what you have, there will be no fulfillment, inspiration or motivation for your goals going forward. There need to be recognition and reward.

Take a listen to today’s episode as I dive deeper into this topic as we approach not just a new year, but a new month, and a new week. Don’t just show yourself appreciation for a year’s accomplishment either, it all comes down to the small consistencies of every. damn. Day.

Happy holidays friends!

Have you created a vision for your future self? The best possible version you can imagine? And if not, what is stopping you? Love, if you are unsure who your future self is + who you desire to be, how will you ever get there? So many have no clue who they want to be, and those who do are too afraid to get started.
This week I am sharing a recent quote I heard about this topic and my take on failure.

"It's better to fail at your future self than succeed at who you are today." - unknown

This time of year is one of my favourites–the Christmas magic, gifting to all my loved ones, the traditions, and spending time with family. But I also know it isn’t like this for everyone, and I can remember a time when this holiday season wasn’t so glorious for me and my husband as it created feelings of overwhelm. You see, the holidays can bring out a lot of expectations, ones we put on ourselves and ones we may hold others to, creating inauthenticity! If you’ve ever felt burnout after the holidays, it may just be because you were showing up as someone your not, and nothing is more draining than that! In today’s episode, I bring some light to the common emotions surrounding the holidays.

Today's special episode is brought to you in light of the today's special holiday, Halloween. In this episode, I share a personal experience that will leave you wondering; it will leave you a little creeped out and potentially have you questioning a few things.
As children, we have the opportunity to dive into this holiday so full, yet as we get older, we tend not to celebrate as we should. To me, this holiday adds so much wonder, possibility, vision, and creativity into our lives; it allows us to step outside of reality. So let's enjoy a slight sense of childhood today.

Today’s episode isn’t necessarily a wakeup call or an ah-ha moment, but something that has been on my chest that I needed to shine some light on. Let me tell you, when I hear people say, “I don’t matter,” man it gets me going. So, if you feel as if you are unworthy or don’t matter, take a listen to today’s episode as I dive into this topic and explain all of the reasons as to why each person on this planet matters. One person doesn’t change this world, it takes an army, my friend.

When I find myself frustrated, angry, and questioning the things in my life, looking to blame something else, it is always because of me. I am the creator of my life, and everything that has happened or will happen is because of the choices I make, the places + people I surround myself with, and the beliefs and thoughts I hold. And once I take ownership of that, I can let go of the need to control and trust that everything I have been working for will happen in the way it is supposed to.
The key here is taking ownership, so many people will spend more time planning for a vacation than they do planning for their life. When was the last time you sat and brainstormed about your life to gain clarity and direction? Take a listen as I provide a few quick steps to take ownership of your life + get into alignment.

So often, we want to deter ourselves from anything that feels uncomfortable, but today I want to encourage you to see uncomfortable as the way to become your best self. You have to be willing to outgrow yourself + your life to become the person you wish to be. Now, I get it, easier said than done, but this is where your ability to handle change and adversity comes in and will determine what direction you take to stay or move forward.
Today I am sharing the analogy of a potato, egg, or coffee bean and how each item interacts with change differently. Much like these items, we have the opportunity to let our outside circumstances affect our internal state or take what is happening around us to work for us. As you listen, reflect and consider which item suits you best now vs. how you wish to continue to live.

Do you ever create a vision for yourself of how a particular day will play out? The perfect timeline of events, yet something comes up, getting in the way of that. Likely creating a reaction from you, sometimes blaming or putting the responsibility of your happiness on someone else. You may not mean it that way, but because of how you communicated your feelings of frustration, that is how it was interpreted.
In today’s episode, I’m covering the importance of proper communication and taking responsibility for how we communicate with those around us, more specifically, our young children. So listen as I share my favourite tip on how to combat a reactive response and instead take a moment to articulate yourself well and avoid placing blame.

For some of us, when a problem arises, we can let it be the very thing to ruin our day, week, and even month(s)—allowing a single issue to control our life + happiness without even realizing it. But, today, I want to challenge you to look at your “problem” from a different perspective. Acknowledge it, respect it, and consider how this could affect your life, or DECIDE how it will affect your life.
In today’s episode, I share a quick story about how my problem for an entire year was the farthest thing from a problem when I found its cause. I made a situation about myself and didn’t take the time to consider the bigger picture. So take a listen to today’s WUC and see if it resonates. I hope it creates an emotional stir within you to move forward to take control of your days and your “problems.”

Something that most people are shocked by when I tell them is that I am a natural introvert. I grew up witnessing the comfort zone of quiet, of not being surrounded by many people with few things going on. But what I have mastered since then is the skill of being extroverted. I enjoy the company of others, speaking in front of a crowd, and leading a team of others – this is what has become my new comfort zone.
The point I am making here is that everything in life is a skill. How you think about yourself, your physical appearance, and even how you speak is all a skill. You can change and master these things to fit the life you desire. To fit the person you desire to be.
Today's skills will not get you to the person you wish to be simply because if they could, you'd already be there. So, what new skill will you be mastering to level up and live out that desire?

The first of many Wake-Up Calls coming at you today! These messages are short, sweet and to the point, bringing you new perspectives for gained clarity and ah-ha moments.

This week we are starting with a question I get asked quite often. If you, like me, are juggling a million things in life, the kids, work, a partner, pets, and so much more, you likely get asked, “how do you do it all.” But, what I want to point out today is that people are asking the wrong question because it’s not the how that matters; it’s the WHY. Once you have determined your why–that’s what propels you forward and keeps you going. That’s what creates the how.

We live in a culture where excuses are our best friends, backup plans, and support system, and it’s not okay to challenge them.

How often do you hear others discuss their mental illness, may that be depression, anxiety, or ADHA? But, you see, the problem isn’t the illness; the problem is the lack of improvement or solution that people focus on. Because when there is a solution, there is no problem. And it has become the norm for people to use this as an explanation when in reality, it is an excuse.

I want to challenge you today to stop and think if you are doing this and whether it is happening around you. It takes a lot of work to go through the illness, but it takes the same amount of work to get through it. So it’s time to stop focusing on the problem, get uncomfortable with it, and challenge it. Stop letting it rule your life.

Has anyone ever suggested to you that you should probably come up with a plan B? As if your plan wasn’t good enough or that you were okay to settle for something different. Today I am bringing some awareness to this “preparation” mindset and how it can actually be the very thing killing our dreams. How I look at it, creating a plan B is reassuring yourself that plan A is not going to work out. And while it may not, there is likely a very good reason for that. We simply redefine our plan; it evolves and changes just as we do, which is okay. So let’s not settle for plan B and instead learn from the failures we make along the way.

Today I am sharing with you an interview with someone extraordinary. Jillian Best is a woman of greatness who inspires others through her goals and accomplishments. In today’s episode, Jillian walks us through her near-death experience and the realization of how precious this life is.

Jillian recently created the Move for Life Foundation, which fuels her desire to shorten the waitlist for an organ transplant and increase the chances of survival. The foundation financially helps transplant programs across Canada attain what they need to perform as many lifesaving transplants as possible.

Jillian has a hereditary disease, which required her to have a lifesaving transplant in 2016; organ donation has played a vital role within her and her family’s life. Since her transplant, Jillian has prioritized her health to swim competitively at the World Transplant Games and now holds five world records in her age group.

Most recently, Jillian swam 52km across Lake Ontario, raising over $130,000 to purchase new equipment for the London Health Science Centers Multi-Organ Transplant Program. This equipment will increase the pool of viable organs that can be used to perform lifesaving organ transplants at one of Canada’s leading transplant centers.

Welcome to week nine and the 8th of Be Bold's top 16 episodes, this week we're highlighting episode 16., where I was joined by a beautiful guest who shared about her passion in women's health and wellness. This conversation was too good to miss.

In this week’s episode, I am sharing an interview with another extraordinary woman, Cara Gwizd, where we discuss what it is like to deal with mom guilt, scheduling a home, four children, a business, and the completion of a degree. Unfortunately, Cara was not given the gift of health at birth and has had a long road to wellness, leading to her path today.

Cara Gwizd is a passionate advocate for women’s health and wellness. Her previous doula and midwifery background paved the way for her study of traditional herbalism. As a means of broadening her scope of practice to better assist the women who seek her care, Cara is currently completing her training as a clinical herbalist and a degree in health sciences and psychology. When Cara is not studying, she spends her time enjoying her four children, whom she raises alongside her incredible partner on their homestead in Southwestern Ontario.

Today within Canada, we are witnessing a beautiful thing. We are seeing a nation of people coming together to create connection, support, and unity, and it is honestly such a beautiful thing to be a part of. In a world where we are more connected than ever, we’ve spent the last few years completely divided.
These individuals have shown an ability to take a risk, be confident and courageous in what they believe in, and that is bold. No matter your belief or your views, I hope that you can honour people for standing up and acting toward their mission, regardless of if that aligns with you or not. If anything, I’ve learned that everything matters in life. Maybe not to you, but to somebody. I hope this propels you to think about the things that matter to you in your community and to start taking a stand and a step to make a change.

Welcome to week seven and the 10th of Be Bold's top 16 episodes, this week we're highlighting episode 33., where we had a special guest and friend of mine, Kathleen May. Kathleen creates thought-provoking conversation and is working hard to be a voice of change.

I remember listening to Kathleen speak approximately six years ago and being in such awe. I loved how she articulated herself and could offer up a different opinion, giving you the ability to see things diversely. In today’s episode, we are joined by Kathleen May as we discuss the topic of change and life under renovation. Throughout part one of this two-part series, we discuss the different aspects of change, including the fear of failure, the fear of success, anger, and the relationship one has with change.

Kathleen is an Author, a Teacher, a Law Student, and a fellow podcaster. She has experienced many hardships throughout her life, yet she continues to get back up, working toward her vision and finding a way when others would not. She is the expert on remaining calm and moving on. Although not yet finished, she addresses and embraces her constant movement and learning to see the beauty in the transformation.

This week I am bringing you a special guest, a friend, and a family member who has experienced much tragedy throughout her life. Teena Slate is like me, an everyday woman going through it, who grew up in a modest home with hard-working, old-fashioned parents.
Teena spent most of her adult years focusing on her family life, being a good mom, and living the image of a "perfect life," however, she never felt it was enough.
At the age of 40, Teena started her healing journey with the help of a good friend and Reiki Master; she decided to leave her marriage, quit her job, and start living her life with intention and purpose. As a result, Teena is breaking the pattern for her daughters and for the generations to come.

Teena shares her story of losing her father suddenly to suicide, how she is coping and continues to cope with that every day. As she continues to focus on herself, shift her mindset to a positive light, and choose forgiveness, it has created a ripple effect for those around her.

Welcome to week four + #14 of Be Bold's top 16 episodes, this week we're highlighting episode 21., where we discussed shifting our mindset to compassion and love rather than judgement, and blame during times of hardship, but also throughout the course of your day.

Rejuvenate & revitalize your body with The Herb Filled Homestead.Connect & follow along on IG.

In the face of hardship, you have the right and responsibility to a belief and an understanding; you don’t have the right to shame and turn others away. Our world needs a sense of the solution, creativity, and compassion; we need our energy and focus on love.

This week’s episode discusses the real problem facing us today, and it isn’t COVID. The real problem? Us. How we respond, judge, and blame those around us, simply worsening the circumstances. The key is staying true to who you are—creating a sense of community, support, and encouragement to focus forward.

Take a listen, and if you feel inclined, join the conversation over on my Facebook account.

As women and moms, we carry a lot of responsibility for our children, spouse, and the household, and when you add on the expectation that comes along with that, man, it can create some aggravation within us. Yet, what if it didn't have to be like that? What if, instead of reacting to these types of situations, we had a solution to handle them. What if we addressed the challenges with questions of curiosity and understanding?

In today's episode, I walk through productive steps to deal with mom guilt and create a balanced schedule with boundaries and communication so that the entire household is aware of the day's schedule. Stop reacting and start questioning to develop more ease within your home.

Welcome to week two of Be Bold's top 16 episodes, this week we're highlighting episode 06., which in my opinion is a great reminder for us all as we continue into a new quarter and look further at revamping our goals for the year.

Rejuvenate & revitalize your body with The Herb Filled Homestead.Connect & follow along on IG.

In this week’s episode, I am chatting about the biggest culprits to your self-sabotage in life, your career, communication, and relationships. In today’s world, it has become tough to ignore the successes of those near and far, and we tend to get caught up comparing our behind-the-scenes to everyone’s highlight reel. We, as individuals, stress and assume about what other people think, yet we honestly don’t have the authority to decide for them. So take a listen as I tell my story of reaching this understanding, of how I got to the point of celebrating the successes of others and knowing that there is an abundance for us all.

Today I am sharing an experience I had last week that left me feeling drained and quite petty, to be frank. You know the meme you see online that states there are two different types of people in the world, those who constantly drive with an empty tank and those who must always have a full tank? This is the analogy we are referring to today because I was quite literally left with an empty tank last week, and I wanted to discuss the ripple effects it can have when we show up for others with an empty tank, both literally and metaphorically and how offensive and selfish it truly is.

Today I am sharing my personal story through not one, but two miscarriage experiences after believing I never wanted to be a mom. I always thought I had to choose between career and motherhood, it was my full belief that you couldn’t have both. My first miscarriage was and is the reason I am a mother to three beautiful babies today. It was tough, it took a lot of processing and healing, but now I can witness the beauty, light and purpose of that very first embryo. Throughout today’s episode I share about my personal experience, I touch on the reasonings behind loss, commonalities, and how to grow and trust in life following such a traumatic life event.

Often, we discuss the goals and the steps to "getting there," but we have yet to discuss what it looks like when we arrive. Not that I think we ever actually arrive because life is a journey, but I want to address what happens when you hit that goal that you've been striving for and how to avoid living complacently.

Topics covered in this episode:

· How to avoid complacency when "you've arrived"

· The importance of showing up for those you influence

· Digging in the trenches as a leader with those who have yet to arrive

· The importance of remembering what it was like before you arrived and showing gratitude towards that

Confidence itself is not what you lack; confidence is a result of your lack of self-belief and self-worth. So today, I am discussing the importance of being genuine and authentic and the people who show up despite their fears and fail at the end. You see, confidence is a skill that is built, and the only way you can build confidence is through practice, which means showing up before perfection.

Topics covered within this episode:

• Bringing awareness to your feelings of lack in yourself

• Surrounding yourself with the right people

• Taking actionable steps

• The importance of a healthy money mindset

In this week’s episode, I am sharing some profound truths about my childhood. I grew up in a male-dominated environment where I was manipulated and constructed for 18 years; I was disciplined out of hate and controlled out of fear. As a result, I was constantly seeking approval and acceptance where it would never be given, not because I wasn’t deserving, but because there was a sense of dominance and ownership over me. This left me building walls of self-isolation, anger, and shields against beautiful things in my life.

Thankfully, I found a man who was the complete opposite of all I knew a man to be. He is loving, kind-hearted, and accepting of me for the way I am. He showed me the beauty that can come when you break down the walls and instead build beautiful and intentional boundaries through communication and protection.

Throughout this episode, I share the critical steps to understanding who you truly are and creating and implementing healthy boundaries that will set you free forever.

In this week’s episode, I am discussing my perspective on pain, how our experiences of death change as we become adults, and whether we begin to understand more or adopt the behaviours of the generations before us. The death of someone you love can be viewed as a loss or as a gift for all the time you were given. You can witness and remember the memories as a gift, allow the pain to take its course, and move forward with a grateful heart.

Death can also bring up a new perspective on life and help recognize what is in front of you; it can give you the ability to access your life and what you truly want.

Today's special episode is brought to you in light of the special holiday this weekend, Halloween.
So let's enjoy a slight sense of childhood today and this weekend.

Remember the last time you were given an opportunity, and you instantly experienced an overwhelmed feeling of excitement thinking about all that would change for the better? And then swiftly, that excitement was replaced with all the questions and reasons of why you shouldn't leap into faith. So you start talking yourself down, wondering what will happen if they realize you're not as good as they think you are?

What if, instead, you pondered how this opportunity would change your world for the better? What if you raised the stakes within your head, stretched that muscle of courage, and stepped into your power?

In this week's episode, I discuss the reality behind fear, how to prepare for fear's impact, and what it looks like to conquer it. When you can understand the normalcy of fear, understand Self, grieve the loss of comfort, and of course, trust in faith, you will witness a ripple effect of growth within your life and business.

This week I dive into my beliefs behind the word ‘busy.’ Many of us use this word daily to describe our day and our lives, yet we don’t realize the overwhelm and anxiety this is causing further. We can get so caught up thinking about what we have to do, rather than just doing the thing.
It is time to own who you are, remove the procrastination from your life, plan, and put your schedule full of abundance and joy into action.
