Today we will look at how Jesus explains in further detail the nature of God’s Kingdom, in three parables. And one of the main points that we will see is that the growth of God’s kingdom is somewhat unexpected because many thought that the kingdom of God would come in, big, loud, take over Rome, and provide immediate justice. Instead,

Jesus will teach us 3 things:

that the Kingdom of God starts small like a mustard seed, but will grow.
the Kingdom of God grows inconspicuous like leaven in flour, that is perhaps slow and it begins with the inner transformation of the heart.
The kingdom of God grows alongside those who reject his kingdom, like wheat among the weeds.

If you feel guilt, shame, or think that Jesus can’t forgive you because of some sin in your life. If that is causing you to worry, you haven’t committed the unforgivable sin. Because the fact that you have sorrow over your sin, and want Jesus to forgive you, reveals that you haven’t reached the point that Jesus is warning of here. And I’m not just saying that to comfort you, not just because I want to make you feel better, I hope that it does and I hope that it leads to you the loving arms of Jesus, but the main reason I say that, is because the blasphemy of the holy spirit, in its context means this: to believe that Jesus was performing miracles by the power of Satan.

Jesus is addressing anxiety as a result of three main things:

Anxiety from a lack of submission to God’s kingship as we’ll see in v.24 when Jesus tells us we cannot serve God and money.

2. Anxiety from a lack of trust in God’s Fatherly power and love. As Jesus speaks of in v.26, when we are reminded of our value in God’s eyes.

Anxiety is ultimately a result of improper priorities as Jesus contrasts anxiety with first seeking God’s Kingdom and his righteousness in v.33.
