For this show, we decided to talk about ANOTHER Oscar-winning film and our first musical: 2016’s "La La Land". Written and directed by Damien Chazelle, Starring: Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, John Legend, Jessica Rothe and Rosemarie DeWitt. While navigating their careers in Los Angeles, a pianist and an actress fall in love while attempting to reconcile their aspirations for the future. The film won 6 Academy Awards in 2017: Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, Best Achievement in Directing, Best Achievement in Cinematography, Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Score), Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song) and Best Achievement in Production Design. For this show, we decided to talk about an animated film: 2008’s "Kung Fu Panda". Directed by Mark Osborne and John Stevenson, written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger. Starring: Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Ian McShane, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, Randall Duk Kim and James Hong. The Dragon Warrior has to clash against the savage Tai Lung as China's fate hangs in the balance. However, the Dragon Warrior mantle is supposedly mistaken to be bestowed upon an obese panda who is a novice in martial arts. For our second show, we decided to talk about another Oscar-winning film, based on a true story: 2018’s "Green Book". Directed by Peter Farrelly, written by Nick Vallelonga, Brian Hayes Currie and (the director) Peter Farrelly. Starring: Viggo Mortensen, Mahershala Ali and Linda Cardellini. A working-class Italian-American bouncer becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist on a tour of venues through the 1960s American South.The film won 3 Academy Awards in 2019: Best Movie, Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role and Best Original Screenplay.
