We will discuss is famous athlete Fred Vanvleet’s response to Jacob Blake’s murder. The point he makes goes wider than just Canada in my opinion because he talks about how black entertainers and athletes have to bring attention to these things and how everyone points their fingers at them. He questions whether putting “Black Lives Matter” on their backdrop even brings a change. Now the big idea, who am I advocating for? I’m advocating for all the people who don’t utilize their voices for change. As Fred said, they’re always eyed on and relied on to make a change when people eyeing them don’t do so themselves. The way I’m going to let them know is through this podcast, and through other news outlets that can be found from my evidence chart. The reason I believe a podcast is the best way to display this information is that it’s a pretty common streaming platform, also it works for auditory learners and visual if they wanna watch the podcast. The issue itself, to prove that people don’t act on their words I have the numbers. The people that say they are using their voices have posted Black Out Tuesday on social media more than 24 million times. In which 39 % of accounts were set to private. What kinda changes are they making? Famous athletes are actually doing something if you really wanna fight then attend a protest, do something. Posting a black screen was by far the most useless thing our society has ever done. And they called it “a move in the right direction” or a “big step”. Like no, you didn’t do anything for a change. If you aren’t going to do anything about it then stop pointing your fingers at entertainers. Fred Vanvleet was trying to tell you guys that posting BLM on your private accounts story, will do nothing. Kind of how he said putting BLM on the backdrop won’t do anything.
