These 21 podcasts are a journey of reflection and prayer. We are probably all aware that being followers of Jesus isn’t confined to church activities. Most of us will pray or think about our faith at some point during our waking or working day. The reflections, stories and prayers here are offered to help us discover more about what it means to live faithfully, hopefully and lovingly as Christians today.
Each reflection starts with a Bible passage, with some thoughts on how this links to faith, hope or love in our everyday life. Alongside this is a simple pattern of prayer (the intro episode): a prayer to start the day, a breaktime prayer to pause and reset during the day, and an “examen” prayer for the end of the day to notice where God has been in your day. The reflections connect with stories of how others have found God at work in their lives – real people who have shared with us their story of God’s leadings.
Many Christians use a special “examen” (a Latin word for “a means of examining”) at the end of the day. An examen has six simple steps.
Use one or both of these brief “pauses” during the day. Give thanks for the blessings you have received and take a moment to be aware of God in what you are doing.
Start the day looking for God in your everyday life. Use this prayer in the morning, first thing after waking with a cup of tea, taking time over breakfast, walking to school, waiting for a bus to work or wherever your day is about to take you.
