The season didn’t end where we wanted it to. The committee showed little to no love for us and the BE. Would hate to face a pissed off Rick Pitino next year!!
St. John’s pounds seton hall to avenge their two early season losses and to set themselves up nicely to make the DANCE!
St. John’s gets a much needed 20 point victory over Villanova at The Garden.

St. John’s holds on for a narrow victory Vs PC at MSG. The johnnies are 4-1 and tied for first in BE play.
St. John’s moves to 3-1 in the big East thanks to the continued dominance of Joel Soriano (20 & 8) and the solid support of DJ Jenkins. Providence comes to the garden for a big time opportunity for St John’s to beat a team they could be competing with come tournament birth time.
Cole is joined by his fellow lifelong languishing St. John’s fan..and brother Shaun. So appreciative of the work Cole has done and the progress The Red Storm Rapid Reaction Podcast has made! Thanks to all of you for listening and joining in! Sorry for it being less “rapid”!
St. John’s throws out a pitiful display of defense in the second half to allow BC to come back from 10 and 6 point deficits respectively.
Sacred Heart ran into a St. John’s team that was firing on all cylinders. Joel Soriano had 18 points 13 rebounds and 6 assists 4 straight wins for the johnnies who will look to make it five in a row Sunday night Vs Boston College.
RJ Luis made his St. John’s debut and he looked fantastic doing it! St. John’s rolls 92-45, next up WVU on Friday 12/1.

Michigan spoils Rick Pitinos Garden debut. There is A LOT to work on with the group but I would advise you not to give up early on a squad with this many new pieces and this many NCAAB veterans.
Rick Pitino gets his first win at St. John’s 90-74 over Stony Brook. Joel Soriano with 22 & 11, Chris Ledlum with 16 & 14, and Daniss Jenkins with 17,8 & 7. Let’s go thrash the wolverines on Monday.
I made it down to CA for the first ever time to make sure I could say I was there from Day 1 for this new look St. John’s team under coach Pitino. Damn am I happy I did so! The team played 5 v 5 in some different variations for 1:40 minutes. Here are my thoughts…

St. John’s parted ways with coach Mike Anderson after 4 seasons at the helm and no postseason appearances. I don’t think it was a disaster and appreciate some of the things he was able to do while at SJU, but I believe this decision is justified and he will get compensated incredibly well.
St. John’s is also rumored to be targeting Rick Pitino, in what would be the most obvious and simple way for St. John’s to resuscitate it’s once proud program.
St. John’s BET championship and NCAA hopes comes to an end at the hands of Marquette. A tough 72-70 overtime lose that epitomizes the struggles St. John’s has had all season.
St. John’s leads from start to finish against a ho-hum Butler team. The test will be much harder tomorrow Vs #1 seed Marquette.

Despite valiant comeback attempt, St. John’s comes up short in defenseless battle against Marquette.

St. John’s gets much needed win against the hated Providence Friars. An Storr played another great game with 15 points on 6-11 shooting. Posh had 9 assists and Joel had another double double. Huge shoutout to a David Jones who had 16 points in his return.
St. John’s somehow figures out a way to lose another game. Each one worse than the last.
St. John’s loses and again gives up more than 80 points to a seton hall team that struggles to score. 4-8 in the BE with 2 road games on deck.
Freshmen AJ Storr hit a 3 pointer with 4 seconds left off a great pass from Andre Curbelo to beat Gtown at the Garden.

St. John’s set new lows last night by failing to score 50 points in a game that was there for the taking.

St. John’s went into Connecticut and knocked the doors off the best team in the BE, 85-74. Can they use this momentum and capitalize on a winnable 4 game stretch? It starts next Friday with a home game vs Nova at The Garden.
St. John’s got a much needed victory Vs Butler at the friendly confines of Carnesecca Arena.
Two teams who play completely different styles of ball and two teams who really need a win.

St. John’s was down 15 points in the first, down by as many as 18 in the second, and never got back within 5 points. They were completely controlled by the better team for the 3rd time in a row. Now have to go to Seton Hall to face a team just as desperate as they are.
St. John’s threw the first punch.. unfortunately it was their only punch. Nova made adjustments and we did not. Nova made shots and we did not. Tough one Vs Xavier..need it!

15 first half turnovers kind of tells you all you need to know about how prepared St. John’s looked to play today. We lost a good chance at a OOC defining win, now we absolutely can’t slip up Vs FSU.
We are 8-0 and finally have a chance to really test our mettle this Sunday against #23 Iowa state on their home court.
St. John’s is 7-0 and they did it without Posh Alexander. It wasn’t pretty but it sure beats 6-1.
St. John’s beats that absolutely sorry excuse of a program from central New York, 76-69, in an OT thriller.
Curbelo with a career high 23 points and Soriano with another absolute monster performance, 19 points and 14 boards.
Get the hell out of here Nebraska. Great defensive performance and a nice offensive 2nd half. Soriano had 18 rebounds. EIGHTEEN. Posh did Posh things. Curbelo was a menace and a maestro (TM). Jones got into foul trouble early but exploded offensively in the second half.
St. John’s moves to 3-0 after another close first half followed by talent & depth winning out. On to our first power conference challenge in non power Nebraska. Let’s get to 4-0 please.
After a slow start St. John’s puts Lafayette away in the second hand. David Jones had 20 points and 4 johnnies scored in double figures.
St. John’s cruises to a 25 point win in their season debut. All five starters scored in double figures and 12 players scored. However 29 turnovers leave a lot to be desired on the execution side of things. On to Lafayette.
St. John’s doubles up Southern New Hampshire 82-41 in their last tune up before the regular seasons begins.
St. John’s loses an absolute heartbreaker. Driving to work trying to make sense of it.

St. John’s shakes off an early 12-2 deficit and absolute steam rolls DePaul 92-73 for a BET victory. On to Nova.

St. John’s pulls off the rare sweep of Xavier following a hot shooting night by Tareq Coburn.

St. John’s absolutely pounds the Bulldogs and moves within 1 game of .500 in BE play. Julian Champagnie only had 31 points points 7 rebounds 7 steals 3 assists and zero turnovers. Hooo hummm

St. John’s cruises late and handles Xavier 86-73. Julian Champagnie lead the way with 27 points including some big time baskets in crunch time.

St. John’s picks up its second straight BE road win, taking down Butler 75-72 behind 21 points from Julian Champagnie and some timely jumpers from Aaron Wheeler.

St. John’s gets a much needed win and completes the season sweep of the hated Hoyas. Julian Champagnie got back to his old self, draining 7 3’s on the way to scoring 27 points.

That was 40 minutes of Hell, just ask Seton Hall. Huge win. Aaron Wheeler was fantastic, Posh just as good.

87-64 and creighton had 84 points with 6:24 to play. Defense was awful and needs the most work. Offense will be alright. Can’t wait much longer to put it all together.

Julian Champagnie had career highs in both points (34) and rebounds (16) as St. John’s got a much needed victory over DePaul to start BE play off 1-0.

St. John’s puts together close to a full 40 minutes of good basketball and takes care of Colgate 82-64.

Id rather win ugly than lose pretty but we have so much to work on. St. Francis hit 9 threes in the first half alone! We got out rebounded 40-26.

Some wins aren’t that impressive. Those are still better than losses. This was one of those. St. John’s beats Fairleigh Dickinson 87-74.

This one hurts. But it shows what can be there. St. John’s loses its first game of the season to Indiana 76-74.

An "off" season that has never really turned off..Pat discusses the roster as it stands now, the OOC games worth discussing, and what we should reasonably expect going into next season.

Well the NCAAs wont happen this year but that doesnt mean all is lost. St. John's is headed in the right direction and it couldnt be more clear. Tough loss. Good season.

St. John's is off to the BE Tournament and they're doing it as the 4th seed. Lets look at what they did to end the season, what they'll have to do to beat Seton Hall in the rubber match, and what other teams might make a run at the BE Tourney Crown. Then well talk about BE Awards and how st johns, though well represented, may have been snubbed..

Our Johnnies cap off their BE regular season with an exhilarating come from behind victory over those 'hasbeens' from Jersey. After falling down 18-0 to start the game, Julian Champagnie and his Red Storm brethren roared back in dominating fashion to win 81-71. Champ had 22, Dylan Wusu had a career best 14, Marcellus had 12, and Gwill had 11. Our bench once again did major damage, scoring 33 points to the Hall's 16. The win guarantees a top 5 finish and a first round bye for St. John's.
We Are..
If you watched the first half you may have thought St. John's chances were finished.. turns out they were Dunn. The senior PG lead a dominating second half comeback to defeat the Providence liars at home, 81-67. Dunn had 21, Champ had 16 and Greg Williams finished with a very solid 15 points.
We Are..
Momentum is gone! Not much to enjoy from that game. Lets regroup and finish the BE seasons strong.
We Are..
The Johnnies got back to their winning, led once again by their freshman point guard Posh Alexander(15pt 9ast 8reb 3stl) and his Brooklyn buddy Julian Champagnie (19pt 5rb). But the biggest impact may have came from the deepest bench in the Big East which tonight produced 37 points with Marcellus Earlington leading the way (16 pt 9rb).

Well like all good things, the 6 game winning streak has come to an end...and although it came in heartbreaking fashion, all is not lost! We break down the road Overtime defeat at the hands of the Butler Bulldogs.
St. John's is 4-0 in their last 4 BE road games after previously dropping 12 of 13 going back to last season. Lets take a look at what's gone different as of late and then preview Tuesday nights match up with Butler.

The dynamic duo of Julian Champagnie and Posh Alexander do it again! The kids from New York win their 4th straight BE road game and move to 7-6 in the conference. Todays win wouldnt have happened if not for the great production from the bench unit, combining for 32 points on 11-15 shooting. Now lets go do the same thing @Butler Tuesday night..
We Are..
The Johnnies are the hottest team in the big east! Villanova came to Carnesseca arena and had no idea how to play against the defensive whirlwind that was Posh Alexander, Dylan Wusu, and The Crew. Posh again lead the way with 16 points, 6 asts, 4 rebs, 3 steals and a flurry or highlights. Dylan Addae-Wusu was nothing short of amazing, doing everything necessary to win and Julian Champagnie overcame a tough shooting first half to finish with 14 points to go along with a career best 13 rebounds. The johnnies stand alone in 6th place and travel to Providence this Saturday, the team directly beneath them in the standings. I think their coach is looking forward to seeing Posh..
We Are..
The Johnnies have turned their season around and have given all fans some reasons for hope, and like Andy Dufresne said, "hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things". So lets take a deep dive into whats helped us escape from the BE prison basement during this 6 game stretch.
St John's holds on against Marquette to pick up its 4th straight with 3 in a row on the road. The usual suspects (Julian Champagnie & Posh Alexander) lead the way but it was perhaps an unlikely hero in Dylan Wusu who had the play of the game. Villanova comes to our campus to give us one hell of an opportunity Wednesday night!

St. John's goes on the road and gets its 3rd straight win as it beats DePaul 81-68 behind a team effort. Vince Cole lead the scoring charge with 18 points, Posh had another great all around game (16pts, 6rbs, 5 asts, 3 stls), and Rasheem Dunn had a quiet scoring night but dished out a smooth 9 assists! The Johnnies head to Marquette this Saturday.
We Are..
Posh Alexander had a career best 20 points as he and St. John's continue to get better. They beat Utah Valley lead by NBA great bench warmer Mark Madsen. Next we head to DePaul looking to pick up the sweep vs the Blue Demons and inch closer to .500 in BE play.
We Are..
The players deserved it and the fans needed it. St. John's beats UCONN on the road to move to 8-7 on the season. Posh Alaxander lead the Johnnies back after being down 21-7 early on and was aided by Marcellus Earlington's best offensive game of the season (15 points).
We Are...
The Johnnies lose a heartbreaker against Marquette in typical SJU ways. What were we thinking on that last possession? Not a thing..
We are..
St. Johns finally gets back in the W column with a 69-57 win over Butler. Julian Champagnie lead the way with 18 points and 5 rebounds while a bunch of other contributed.
We lost a game we could have easily won and are now 1-4 in the BE. On to the next one..
We Are..
As President of the Greg Williams Jr. Fan Club its an honor to recap this outing. Gwill lead us to an impressive 94-83 win with 26 points as he continues to show his offensive improvement. Champ and Cole each had solid scoring nights and Posh was the energizer the team needed to finish the hoyas off in the second half. First win in the BE with the holiday break ahead.

Creighton is a lot better than St. John's. The johnnies fall to 0-3 in the BE and are staring at a must win game against GTOWN and a lot must improve for that to happen.

St. John's couldnt slow down Sandro Mamu----- and fall victim to Seton Hall, dropping the first game of the BE season. Champagnie, Cole, Dunn, and Williams all scored double figures but it wasnt enough as their comeback attempt fell short, 77-68.

It wasnt pretty but we survived. Vince Cole got hot at just the right time and spurred a second half comeback for the johnnies as they defeat Rider 82-79 to move to 5-1 on the season. St. Johns will play at Seton Hall to open up BE play this Friday.

St. John's defeats Stony Brook 89-66 as Greg Williams continues to grow into BE stud as his aggressiveness is starting to catching up with his talent. Champagnie and Moore provided good secondary scoring and the whole team contributed after a rough start to the first half. St. John's is now 4-1 on the season and will play host to Rider Tuesday night.

The Johnnies came out lethargic and missed a great opportunity to start the season 4-0. Julian once again showed an improved offensive game, but it wasn't enough as the Red Storm fall to BYU 74-68.

Julian Champagnie is back. Like BAAACCCCKK back. The Sophomore had a career high 29 points to go with 10 boards in an impressive return from an ankle injury. Posh was close to perfect for the first 30 minutes of the game. Man Crush Greg Williams played the way an upperclassmen should and the rest of the guys did enough to win an exciting one, 97-93.
