Hello and welcome to the show known as “Coffee With Kong”. This show began as a simple podcast on our own church app with the aim of asking our senior pastor some of life’s most difficult or burning questions.
Pst Kong Hee is the founder and senior pastor of City Harvest Church in Singapore and ever since May 2012, he has been on this radio show every week, answering emails that come to us at connect@cityradio.sg.

What is your understanding of divine relationships? There were seasons (in the bible) where disciples collaborated together and eventually went their separate ways. Just how do we know and recognise when a relationship is considered “divine” and when it is not?
Is it possible for certain individuals/leaders to function very well as an evangelist but not be so good as a pastor? Sometimes it is evident in all the events and planning, the gifting is particularly strong in one aspect of the five fold ministry. Can someone get saved under an evangelist’s ministry but also not feel ministered or cared for pastorally? Does this happen often?
If a person who calls him/herself a prophet and publicly proclaims and prophesies wrongly, what is the consequence for this prophet? What is your knowledge of the old testament prophets? What happened if they made a mistake? In today’s context, is the role of the prophet still relevant? If a prophet who prophesy publicly and turns out to be incorrect, is that person a false prophet?
We got an email asking one of the hottest questions of all time. A school of thought suggests that suicide is considered a form/act of “murdering” oneself and since it is written in the 10 commandments that thou shalt not murder, the believer who commits that act cannot enter in Heaven. But what about Rom 8 : 38-39 that says nothing can separate us from the love of Jesus Christ? Tune in and be blessed.
We received an email asking about what transpired in the Garden of Eden. Gen 3 :22 says that “man has become like God knowing good and evil..” and this was said after Adam ate the fruit. The email is asking if it was the case that Adam didn’t know that disobeying God was evil and if that was the case, why was he blamed for doing/committing something evil?
As Christians we understand the importance and significance of water baptism. Just how important is a baptism name? Must we have a name that has meaning? Would it be possible to still retain that baptism name if you have backslided? Tune in and be blessed.
As Christians, when we utter the words in our wedding vow “Till death do us part” – what does it really mean? Are we still husband and wife or father and child when we get to heaven? Would we recognise each other and remember our time together (as spouse or parent)? Is there a scripture or verse that sheds light on this? Tune in and be blessed.
An anonymous email came to us describing how they (introverts) function in a church or social setting. It is difficult at times to open up and share their life with others as it always seems well (on the surface). Are you like this? Do you know of anyone who is experiencing this as well? Have you ever been asked the question about equality and social gospel? What exactly is the social gospel? Everytime the word “inequality” is mentioned, it seems as though equality is the solution/final outcome. Does equality mean equal outcome, income or opportunities? How is it defined? We got an email telling us of a relationship that is breaking down. What do you do when your husband-to-be is living overseas and decides to call of the wedding? Would hiring a Private Investigator be a solution? If you have fasted and prayed to God, what else can you do to save the marriage?
We got an email asking what exactly is the new heaven and new earth that the bible is talking about. What will be doing there? Have you ever thought about it? The email goes further to ask if what we do now (our occupation/calling), is what we will do in the new heaven and new earth? Tune in and be blessed.
We got an email from asking about our approach towards extra-terrestrial life. As Christians how much should we care/not care about these studies? Have you ever wondered if there is actually life outside of Earth? Would any discovery or truth of it mean anything to us as a Christian? Tune in and be blessed.
We got an email from someone who noticed that there were several non-Christian friends who ended up in divorce because their husbands were having an affair. The question here - love is simple, right? If love is a decision and a choice, how can someone purposefully choose to hurt the other party with their wrongful action?
Do you ever see “stuff”? We got an email from our faithful listener who has “stuff” appear in her dreams but ever since she got saved, she sees them a lot lesser. How do we deal with these things of the supernatural and what should our posture be towards them? Tune in and be blessed.
What happens when we disobey God and go through a tough time, is that a consequence of our action or is it God disciplining us?
What about Christians who wilfully sin? Does God punish people who are disobedient? Tune in and be blessed.
Is a generational curse similar to inherited sicknesses? Is there a way to break the curse after we have been saved? After seeing similar patterns of adultery (which ends in divorce) in one generation, is it possible to pass that curse (of adultery) down to another (to the children) and if either of the parents are spirit-filled, would it be enough to break that curse?
What exactly is Holy Laughter? Are these experiences biblical? Where exactly in the bible can we read about them? Someone wrote in saying that they have been in church for a while and are still not at peace with it and are unable to ascertain if this is truly from the Holy Spirit.
Have you ever wondered if the Holy Spirit can only move in a certain way in a meeting/service? An example would be either deliverance or Holy laughter and that is how the service or meeting would end up. Can God move and touch someone in any way He chooses? How does the Holy Spirit move (in the context of an organised meeting)?
There has been a growing trend for pet owners to seek Animal Communicators to speak with their pets. They can also be called Animal Psychics. “Communicating” with a dying or dead pet is also possible. There have also been many testimonials of how accurate and descriptive some of these communicators can be after “speaking” to the pet. Is this for real? As a Christian, can we seek these Animal Communicators?
We got asked this question : Did Jesus die on the cross for our sicknesses and diseases? It seems that Christ’s death was for our sins only.
So what does it mean when we quote the words in Isa 53 : “..by His stripes we are healed.”
And if Jesus’ death was for our healing then why do people get sick?

We've got an email that says : In the digital space, there is a lot of doctrinal divide among people who claim to be followers of Jesus. Many of these people also claim to be teachers of the Word. How do we guard ourselves against false teachings if so many churchgoers regularly consume such content?
Bullying happens everywhere. It happens in school and even in the workplace.

The only constant in life is change. We are constantly changing and growing in every phase of life. We get some of these emails once in a while asking about the various transitions that they are going through. One day you are a university student and next thing you know, you are sitting at your new work desk talking to your boss about KPIs. It happens.
But what if in church things aren’t moving quite the same?
What if your cellgroup leader still treats you and everyone like youth?
What happens when the leader doesn’t transit along?
Do you have a friend who is working or studying abroad and they don’t know which is a good church to go to? Would you know how to help them?
We cannot get enough of these emails. Too many. It just feels like we always want to know what or when is the right time for this or that and what to do. This episode is good. It doesn’t matter if you are in the dating phase or you are a parent, you will want to listen to this.
