For our interview this week, we entered into the mind of an athletic trainer to understand the management, prevention and rehabilitation of injuries in athletes. His story began with rejection as the day of his nursing exam, he decided to not take it and chase his passion for sports in athletic training. Through his journey, he has learned so much on how to be a leader and a better teacher for his athletes and fellow team members. Today we had the opportunity to answer some interesting questions including the difference between an athletic trainer and a strength coach, how to improve exercise selection, what it takes to be a leader, and talk about the major keys for long term success in the field of athletic training.

Our next guest has gained valuable experience working with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Hornets G league team, Florida atlantic university’s men's basketball, and is now the head of athletic training for men's basketball at UCLA. In the midst of his current role, he is also working to complete his Doctorate in Health Science and Exercise Leadership and has an ebook emphasizing solutions and discussing factors to help manage inflammation and chronic illness.

INTRODUCTION:

Our conversation this week we talked with the owner and developer of Neckslevel. Neckslevel is a new neck strengthening device company focusing on changing the game when it comes to neck strength, pain, and management of head and neck injuries. For those not in the realm of PT, developing adequate neck strength is crucial to recovery and success long term in the management of neck pain. So much so, teams from the NFL, NHL, and formula 1 have begun to use this device to ensure players and racers have adequate neck strength to combat head and neck injuries.

Nevertheless, the discussion will begin with the origins and motivation for creating such a device and how an idea begins to take shape in the physical form as a final product. In addition, we discuss the importance of neck strength, how neck rehab is typically done, and why Neckslevel is the solution to performing the perfect chin tuck. Lastly, to conclude our episode we cover entrepreneurial topics including networking with clinicians, building a brand, and how your career in PT can take you down many different avenues.

It has been commonplace to think of your primary care doctor as the first line of defense for all of your non emergency medical needs. However, as the scope of Doctor of physical therapy continues to expand, we are starting to notice the overlap these two professions share. One area that appears to share the most similarities is in the world of diagnosis and plan of care management for musculoskeletal disorders or simply put, injuries related to your muscles, bones, and ligaments. This week we discuss how the field of physical therapy is growing through the use of diagnostic ultrasound for appropriate diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Here to discuss his experiences with diagnostic ultrasound is a doctor of physical therapy who has utilized this tool in his everyday practice for several years. He has held management and clinical positions in the field of physical therapy and has served as an Editorial Board member for the global journal of orthopedic research. He is very active in the research community and uses other diagnostic tools to provide a very thorough and comprehensive exam on all of his patients. Here to discuss diagnostic ultrasound is Dr. Shirish Sachdeva.

The profession of physical therapy continues to change. Burnout, reimbursement, access, and a growing population of older adults has put us at the forefront of a very unique and opportune time to shape the way future PT’s conduct care. Our conversation today will provide insight from one of the leaders working to improve all of the aspects of outpatient physical therapy.

The pioneer in the way outpatient PT is done is being led by a company called Luna Physical Therapy. Although I am slightly biased having utilized the platform for almost 2 years, the digital software company is shaping the way outpatient care can be easy, effective, and accessible to the average patient. With one phone call and verifying your insurance, a doctor of physical therapy will come to your door to aid you in your very own care plan to recovery. With innovative voice documentation, concierge teams at your disposal, and setting your own schedule, the company allows for you to work as much as you’d like while making competitive wages given your area. On the side of patient satisfaction, the patient receives personalized, 1:1, physical therapy treatment at their convenience.

Nevertheless, this has been a game changer for me and here to discuss more about the company is the Head of Clinical services and part co-founder of Luna itself. Having worked as a Stanford physical therapist originally, she quickly realized the potential of Luna and began to put her love for data and technology to work. Here to discuss the future of physical therapy, I introduce Dr. Palak Shah.

In this week's episode we bring together two growing professions in the healthcare space. First and foremost is the realm of foot and ankle surgery. Much of the success that comes from surgeries such as ankle reconstruction, achilles rupture, and ligament repairs all stems from collaboration between professions. These include orthopedics, cardiology, and physical therapy to name a few. Today we will discuss how each profession plays a role in a successful surgery. Next we cover where the field of surgery is going in regards to new technology and how the professions continue to grow independently despite their collaborative practice.

Our second profession of interest includes the world of podiatry. Which for those who may not know is a doctor responsible for treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and related structures of the leg. Today we will get to hear the development of this profession that dates back decades and has come a long way in advocacy and development as a practice in the realm of medicine. We will span topics including how to maintain healthy ankles and feet, why you should avoid comorbidities such as diabetes and heart disease, discuss collaboration with physical therapy and how this helps lead to better outcomes. Lastly our conversation will discuss similarities on where the professions of PT and podiatry are going.

Here to discuss all this and more, is the Chief of Podiatry and rearfoot and ankle surgery at the VA of Western New York at Buffalo. This hospital serves veterans and family members of military members and provides a unique perspective from this particular population of individuals. He himself enlisted in the Air Force and found his career working in podiatry since. He has held several roles throughout his career and most notably served in active duty assignments as the Surgical Specialties Flight Commander for the Air Force. He is a teacher, leader and advocate and you’ll be sure to learn a few things about these very important fields. I introduce to you Dr. Andrew Puckett

Our episode this week focuses on rehabilitation and injury prevention in the world of professional sports! This includes defining what return to sport means, building soft skills to work with athletes, organizing and administering rehabilitation protocols, constantly working on the road, and lastly, the effort and team collaboration that goes into the rehabilitation process in the NBA. This week's episode, I had the opportunity and pleasure of sitting down with the Physical therapist for the Los Angeles Clippers to help us understand her role and responsibility for the team and how she has grown as a clinician.

Our next guest's curiosity with sports began with her own sports endeavors playing at the collegiate level for basketball. After PT school, it was easy to see how her path to sports was the next phase of her career. After gaining experiences through USC’s sports residency program, working at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, working with for the Orlando Magic, and now the Los Angeles Clippers, she has dedicated her life to helping and collaborating with fellow health professionals to ensure the team is ready to play come gametime. I introduce to you, Dr. Maggie Bryant!

Here to help us navigate the ever changing world of healthcare, our next guest on the podcast is the Founder and Owner of Redefine Health! Her background started working as a doctor of physical therapy in the military where she got a sneak peak at what the ideal scenario looks like in the world of multidisciplinary primary care. Once leaving the military and gaining experiences through civilian clinics, she slowly realized the ideal multidisciplinary approach wasn’t being carried over to everywhere else. In fact, she learned the problem was much bigger than she anticipated. To help combat this, she has built a continued education website and started a movement toward evidence based care aiming to help change the status quo of the current fee for service model into another more resembling that of the model she saw once before. Motivated, driven, and curious, she has built a team of people to help her in her journey and is working constantly to change how we receive care in the US.

The field of physical therapy is growing. Not just numbers wise but in terms of the scope of our practice and tools available to us as healthcare providers. For our future counterparts to have such tools, we need to be diligent in our pursuit to improving the profession. Here to discuss this and more is Dr. Lance Mabry, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT. From running a clinic in Afghanistan, conducting research, becoming board certified in manual therapy and orthopedics, educating students, and pushing for new policy, it is of no surprise Lance has become a leader in the field of physical therapy. This weeks episode we get to hear from a first hand experience of chronic illness. Not to tell you how difficult it can be (although we will discuss that too), but to show you how to manage, connect and live with an autoimmune disease called Lupus. Diagnosed at an early age, Kelli is no stranger to perseverance, hard work, and forging her own path to success. She has become a huge advocate in the field of chronic illness and pain management and I'm looking forward for you to learn and share what she has to offer. So sit back, leave a like and enjoy!

Introduction:
'This week's episode we are stepping away from our providers to hear from someone who has first hand experience living with a chronic illness. From the time she was 11 years old, our next guest had known something was wrong. What started off as an unusual orthodontist appointment and an infection of epstein barr virus, led to progressing inflammation, joint issues, fatigue, and many other debilitating symptoms. A simple blood test and consultation with her doctor, resulted in an early diagnosis of lupus with a secondary diagnosis juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
From that point on, I would be lying if I were to say it was an easy path to where she is right now. From growing up with chronic illness at a young age, managing medication, finding the right doctors, and consistently learning more about an incurable disease, it takes a lifetime of diligence and desire to continue on a persistent path to piloting a semi-normal lifestyle.
Despite all of these barriers and knowing she had every excuse in the book to just live life managing her symptoms, she decided to not let her disease dictate her life and how she lives it. Currently, she runs a not-for-profit called the more than lupus foundation, she is an award winning blogger, leads lupus support groups and other long term illnesses such as fibromyalgia and RA. She is a community leader, an advocate and a teacher that everyone can certainly benefit from. Here to share her story, I introduce to you Kelli Roseta'

Welcome back to this weeks episode of The Health Me Podcast, Episode #18!

Our episode this week dives into several interesting and thought provoking topics. Ranging from empathy, clinical judgement, the placebo effect, and many others, our guest is well versed and educated on these topics. He has put together several learning materials for everyone to benefit from I know many of you will learn so much from our conversation. !

Psychology for the Body: https://psychologyforthebodyceu.com/

Introduction:
'Our topic this week is psychology. More specifically the difficulties we have as humans to effectively communicate, empathize, and modulate the way we are perceived by other humans. This episode won’t necessarily be about how or why you should see a psychologist but the point of today’s episode is to address the flawed nature of humans themselves. It is important that we can all acknowledge we are all flawed and for some reason, although very conscious of the things we do, we often make mistakes and miss our own biases.
Nevertheless, in today's episode we will discuss these biases and how they affect bedside manners in the clinic from the perspective of a clinician. From patients comparing themselves, clinical judgement skills, practicing empathy, and acknowledging the strength of the placebo effect, we will discuss all the aspects that go into affecting a patient's experience while discussing our barriers or atleast the importance of the language we use with our patients and colleagues. For everyone who may not be a provider, these concepts will greatly overlap with other areas of interest, especially working with team members, being a leader in the workplace, and understanding more about how we function as humans!
To better understand these concepts I had the amazing opportunity to speak with a physical therapist who specializes and has built continuing education courses on these very topics. Starting off his career as a PT in home health, our next guests’ journey toward psychology began several years after becoming a PT where he received his masters in industrial and organizational psychology. Shortly thereafter, he worked on building psychology for the body; a continuing education course and company specifically tailored for clinicians to approve their bedside manner by addressing their biases and learning to practice empathy. His courses are approved in NY and Florida and are excellent resources for anyone who works with clients or patients. More information will be provided at the end of the podcast on how to reach out to him if you have any further questions and I will be providing links to his website and courses in the description. Without wasting any more time, I introduce to you Ari Ginsberg.'

We are live with another episode of The Health Me Podcast Episode #17!

From the title you may assume we are talking about emergency medicine. And you'd be right in that we do, however, Andrew has a wealth of knowledge on strategizing for physician careers, why healthcare providers burnout, and how to maximize your career in health and be happy all at the same time!

He is the Host of the Talk2MeDoc podcast so if you get a change go listen to his podcast as well.

Please go show him support in his endeavors to help out healthcare workers find the career that works best for them!

Introduction:
'Our guest this week is currently an emergency medicine physician originally from NYC but currently works in Western NY. Like many physicians, his current role as en ER doc has been rewarding. Working long hours and putting in the work to save peoples lives. However, for Andrew and many other healthcare workers, there comes a point where sometimes the job no longer fills up your cup. And not in the sense of not wanting to treat patients but finding another avenue to be fully satisfied with your career. Nevertheless, this curiosity with finding something new led him to becoming physician leader or career strategist for other healthcare providers to help them to also build successful and meaningful careers. If that wasn’t enough, he is the Host of the Talk2MeDoc Podcast and is consistently putting out valuable information to help healthcare workers solve their issues with a dissatisfied career. Great to have you back for this weeks episode of the Health Me Podcast! This week, we are calling out all the hard workers who say they are unable to find the time to eat and workout! For this weeks guest will certainly give you the tools or at least a general foundation of how you can live a healthy life without all the added pounds around your midsection. Furthermore, we go into the stress this past year has brought for many of you in the entertainment space and provide solutions to taking the necessary steps to getting help. In addition, we go over what it takes to be a good leader, how to manage teams, and how we can learn a thing or two when it comes to managing and working together as a team in the healthcare space. All of that and more in this weeks episode, I introduce to you Michael Ruddell. Enjoy!

Introduction:
'This week's podcast we are switching it up a bit and having a conversation with someone very involved in the entertainment industry. More specifically the side holding events, coordinating successful shows, working with teams, making a vision into a reality and providing fantastic shows for thousands of people to enjoy. In order to do this, especially over the past year, you must be able to adapt, move quickly and be able to manage a team all at once so the collective whole is moving toward the desired goal. Today, we focus on the logistics and coordination needed to get an event such as a concert or a large theatre event enacted and brought to fruition. Throughout the process, there of course can be many obstacles that go into such an event. We will first go over the checklist required for these events to take place as well as the struggles, stress, and adaptation needed to do so. Next, we will get to hear more about life on the road and the added stresses or roadblocks life adds when trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, workout and eat so you can perform at a high level.

Furthermore, to combat these roadblocks we will discuss strategies anyone could adopt to manage stress, find time to eat healthy, manage a workout schedule and maintain a work life balance all at the same time. As you can imagine, last year was certainly a slow year for the entertainment industry and some additional stories of how they navigated that will also be discussed for those who also had a similar year career wise. To help us better understand the industry and learn from these hard working individuals, I had the opportunity and pleasure to interview someone who has been working in the entertainment space for over 20 years. Having previous work as a director and producer, he now is the senior vice president for customer success at ETA, Creative Event Producers. Living with his soon to be wife in Georgia, our next guest believes in taking the hard steps to ensure his health and fitness stay intact within his busy yet fulfilling career. Welcome to another episode of the Health Me Podcast, Episode #15! For this weeks episode we had a twist on how to health yourself. In this episode we talk about how most of us in healthcare end up wearing multiple hats, how to run a multi-million dollar business, how to set yourself up for life with defining a purpose and operating from a set of core values. You won't want to miss this one and I promise everyone will be able to take something out of this podcast!

Introduction:
'Our next guest's journey began as a doctor of chiropractic, starting his own chiropractic practice and working several years to build his practice into a very profitable and rewarding profession. Having success and failures along the way, we dive into the essentials of building a team, being a leader, having a purpose, and operating from a framework of core values. With that in mind, as most of us do if we hyper focus on one thing for any length of time, we find that our eyes start to look on the horizon to look for the next mountain top to ascend up to. For our next guest, the next mountain top started out as a side hustle, working during his time off to help set up marketing for other healthcare providers to improve their online marketing. A short year later, his one day a week side hustle turned into a full time gig, evaluating his new company at over a million dollars in the first year and getting listed on the Inc 500’s list of fastest growing companies back in 2017. His company iVelocity had a growth rate at more than 1000% in three years with a total of 2.8 million in revenue. After finding success with a client based business model, he sold his lead generation company for a seven figure evaluation to then start his current role as the founder of Optimal Growth business mastermind. He now leads a small and profitable business to help doctors run and operate their own practices more efficiently. In addition to his listed accolades, our next guest has a wealth of knowledge. He is passionate, a leader, and a great role model for anyone who looks to improve their life or business. He has taken everything he has learned over his career to help curate today’s podcast into a very informative, motivating and helpful episode at that. There are a lot of great pieces throughout the podcast so if you have the opportunity to write down anything, I’d keep a pen nearby. Without further adieu, I’m excited to introduce Dr James Roman.'

For the podcast this week we are talking everything sleep! Who better to help us explain it all than a sleep physician?! I'm very excited for you to listen to this weeks podcast. I learned so much from her and you will too.
'From one day to the next, we all have various priorities driving what ultimately will determine the course of our day. From hunger, anxiety, depression, stress, familial matters, and many others, all coerce to disrupt your day, or at least affect how good of a day you’ll have. None of which are as important as determining whether or not you’re going to have a good day as sleep.

This of course is not uncommon. We all have experienced several restless nights throughout the course of our own lives, perhaps even several nights consecutively. However, what happens when this trend of restlessness and perception of feeling tired continues for weeks? Months? The reasons as to why many of us have developed a bad relationship with sleep are completely individual and have a story that needs unwinding. Unwinding in a sense that reveals all the things you are doing or perhaps the things you are not doing that are contributing to why you may be experiencing difficulties with sleep.

To help us unwind some of these stories, I had the unique opportunity to interview and speak with a pediatric sleep physician and pulmonologist from the University of Stanford. Originally from AZ, our next guest's curiosity with medicine began early from her father, who practiced as a physician as well. With her strong desire to help people and her love for medicine, our guest achieved several accolades in her career. Among them are completing two fellowships, one with pediatric pulmonary medicine and another with sleep medicine all at Stanford University. She now works at Stanford University as the Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Residency Program as well as a Clinical Assistant professor for Stanford. She currently works with various patient populations ranging from seniors with sleep apnea to kids with neurological sleep disorders. In today's podcast we will discuss various topics regarding sleep including routine, night time aides, sleep consistency, how to get help if you're experiencing sleep problems and a final answer to the question, if you say something in your sleep, is that just your subconscious mind talking? Overall, she is extremely qualified to help us navigate the world of sleep and I am very grateful we are able to learn from her and share her knowledge with you all. Our next guest on the Podcast is Pediatric Sleep Physician and pulmonologist, Dr, Caroline Okorie.'

If you may not know, when finally deciding to work in the healthcare field, there are many different avenues in which to embark upon your journey. Whether it’s social work, speech pathology, nursing, or even a neurologist, all can be very rewarding but involve various levels of skill and perseverance in order to achieve your desired outcome of being a provider in the healthcare space. When considering each career path, our ultimate decision can be summed but not limited to a few factors for our chosen profession. First and foremost, when choosing which field to go into, our first consideration is how hard the classes are for the desired profession. For some, the idea of overcoming organic chemistry and calculus 2 to become a physician is just a small notch in the belt of a long career in learning. However, to some, the simple thought of those same classes is enough for some to choose other options in the healthcare field. Second, our next consideration is often compensation in terms of how much I will make and how much am I going to need in order to pay off my loans if I get this job. Of course, this varies greatly depending on your position in healthcare and responsibilities you take on. And lastly, ironically enough, the third factor we consider is will this job be fulfilling in the sense of, do I feel like I am doing the greatest amount of good or am I helping the greatest amount of people with the career I am going to partake in. None of these factors are in any particular order but for our next guest, it was ultimately the third factor mentioned was the deciding factor that lead him into the field of becoming a doctor of physical therapy

Our next guest is a close friend of mine who I had the pleasure of meeting in PT school. Originally from Upstate NY, our next guest shares his unique story into the healthcare space and how he has advanced not only as a clinician, but as an adult trying to navigate the perils of determining your profession in healthcare. As we hear more about his story, we will also get to hear how he has successfully started to run his own clinic in Nashville Tennessee as part of a larger organization just a short 2 years after graduating PT school. We will get to hear some of the struggles and benefits of running a clinic, how to be more active and noticed in your community, and much more. If that wasn’t enough, our next guest has a long history of exercise, setting goals, and achieving anything he sets his mind to. I think from the perspective of another physical therapist, I think there are several amazing points clinicians can take from this podcast. But for those not in the space, I think this interview will provide some insight into the behind the scenes actions of how healthcare works and the various roles clinicians have to take on in order to keep things running. Our next guest on the podcast is Doctor of Physical Therapy, Tyler Soltis

Welcome back to another episode of The Health Me Podcast Episode #12! When we think about the healthcare system as a whole, the first thing that comes to mind will be dependent on the individual. And what I mean is your initial thought of what healthcare is, will be associated with your own personal experience with the entity itself. This can be a hospital, family doctors office, dentist office, physical therapy or one of any other services provided in the healthcare space. For some it may even be the space they work in currently however, many of us see it at a surface layer related to personal experience. Today we are getting under the superficial layer to uncover how these facilities work and operate on a daily basis. From how various services are paid through medical coding, the difference in reimbursement regarding medicare versus private insurance, how we pay for medicare and some of the associated difficulties with it, and lastly, how being healthier when you're older could possibly mean less money out of your pocket.
To help us understand all of this, our next guest has over 10 years of experience working in various aspects of healthcare to put all of this together. Our guest today is currently the Director of Hospital and Sport Affiliations at UCSD and has had previous experience in project management, clinical operations, client services and product/ business development. Originally from North Carolina now a long term resident of California, our next guest has been a longtime healthcare advocate, working in the background of health systems to keep them running efficiently and effectively so our doctors and offices can work and provide the care they need. I introduce to you John Cressler

Welcome back to another episode of the Health Me Podcast, Episode #11!!

Thanks for listening! This week, our guest is fantastic. Not only thought provoking but just a great leader and I'm certainly glad to know someone who is pushing the healthcare spcae to be better for tomorrow. For all you consistent listeners, I'd hope you're liking the content thus far and I would like to challenge you this week with sharing the podcast with just ONE other person. Word of mouth is very powerful and I'm hoping more people can benefit from everyone interviewed. If so thanks for sharing, thanks for listening and enjoy this episode!

'Have you ever had the pleasure (and I use the term pleasure lightly) of trying to access a piece of your medical documents or perhaps an image so you could get a second opinion from another provider? Perhaps you’ve needed to get medical records for someone else, such as your children, another patient, or in the unlikely event of a sick family member. For anyone listening, I’m sure they could advocate the nuances or difficulties with achieving such a task. This idea or barrier presented in this intro, was the incentive and goal for a company called Vivlio Health! Their goal is to allow for easier access to your own medical documents in an easy to use, user friendly mode of communication with your medical providers and you. Which was kind of crazy to me that something like this hadn’t really existed or at least wasn’t as available previously. Thankfully today, we’ve had the unique opportunity of talking with the CPO or Chief Product Officer of their company to give us more information into the company itself and where they are going.

In his journey to his position at Vivlio, he has also had quite the experience with healthcare in his own eyes. From injuring his lower back, working at various healthcare technology companies, having a personal experience with sharing information for his sister, and talking about the future of healthcare, our next guest has a vast catalog of information we can all benefit from. In addition, we get to hear his perspective on the future of healthcare with advances in telemedicine, AI, security of information, and in general, how healthcare will change in the years to come. Overall, it was great having him on the podcast and I hope this episode will lead to more questions in your mind about whether or not you're able to freely and easily access your medical information and get you thinking on how the future of healthcare is changing right before our eyes. Nonetheless, without further adieu, I introduce to you Addison Perrymond!'

**Welcome Back To Another Episode of The Health Me Podcast Episode #10!

'For each of us, whether in high school or in middle school, we have all had the sex talk once in our lives. Whether it came from your empathetic parents, a willing teacher to help instruct ‘health class’ or perhaps an unannounced conversation from one of your friends in the hall or on the bus ride home. We all can recall or have a brief memory of our first conversation into the world of adulthood. As we get older, the definition of sex changes however. Our own definition, individual as an individual human themselves changes as we age. Nevertheless, influence on our definition can change based on several factors including religion, friend groups, or simply one's environment. Furthermore, the idea of sex can be more intricate based off of your identity of gender and/ or your sexual preference.**

With more factors not considered in this intro and account for more than 300 plus million Americans in the United States you find yourself among a highly varied and very individualistic country. This is what makes living in the US great, however, when we approach a very individualistic idea such as abortions, gender affirmation, sex education, and birth control options, it can make for debatable conversations. Today, we aren’t here to debate but to present facts on what Planned Parenthood is to many Americans and what value it can provide. Who better to help us learn about it than a physician who is the medical director of a planned parenthood herself! Originally working as a journalist with a natural curiosity for finding the facts quickly turned into wanting to know the answers. With her love for social justice, the human body, and having prior experience with interviews, practicing as a family medicine doctor was the perfect fit for her and her patients. What originally started as working per diem at a planned parenthood clinic, quickly turned into running clinics in All of western Ny which includes Syracuse all the way to Buffalo. If that wasn’t enough, she is very active in state and federal government regulations, finds time to be active herself and continues to help educate others whenever she has the time. We are very lucky to have interviewed her and I hope you learn as much as I did from this episode. I introduce to you Dr. Amy Potter.'

**Welcome to another episode of the Health Me Podcast Episode #9!!

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to run a marathon? How about running a marathon after you biked over one hundred miles? Well you’re in luck because today we get to hear from someone who has lived to tell the tale!**

When we think of getting ‘in shape’, most equate our fitness level to running a couple miles on their treadmill, hoping on a bike, or perhaps walking to work off your lunch. For others, their own definition of being an athlete can certainly push the barrier of what we believe to be humanly possible. Although there is an athlete in all of us, the athlete we get to hear from today certainly pushes that envelope running marathons, doing iron mans which involves swimming, biking, and running; boxing, and strength training if that wasn’t enough.

Through multiple injuries, hours of planning, building her own healthcare support team, and many early morning training sessions, our next guest can certainly teach you a thing or two on how to optimize your life around your fitness goals. In addition to walking the walk, our next guest takes what she has learned and experienced in her training career to her professional life, leading and organizing a team with Nike. If anything, this podcast should leave you with no excuse to get moving and be more organized to turn your own ship toward achieving your individual fitness goals. I introduce to you Jessica Hastings!

Welcome to another episode of the Health Me Podcast!!
This week we are doing something quite different and that is answering a question that I often get as a physical therapist and that is, what is the difference between a tendon and a ligament. For clarification, this will be an oversimplification of both of these structures so anyone from any background will be able to understand. Today we will cover what exactly each of these structures are, what they do, factors that can affect healing and ultimately, have a better understanding of these important building blocks that give our body mobility and stability.  Enjoy!

Welcome to an other Episode of the Health Me Podcast!!

Nowadays it's easy for us to get caught up in our lives, working harder and longer than ever and not taking the necessary steps to help ourselves and often being our own worst enemy. This can present itself as not only mental barriers; with anxiety or depression but also physical barriers when we experience aches, pains and discomforts in our own bodies. Our next guest unfortunately had been experiencing Low Back pain for quite some time and had experienced many hardships that were directly related to her injury. As we get to know our guest, we will progress into her experience with the healthcare system as well as her thought process to avoid surgery and continue with physical therapy. Additionally, with having so many restrictions to daily life due to her low back pain, we will better understand the anxiety or the added stress chronic pain can be and possibly provide a glimmer of hope for those suffering with LBP currently.

Furthermore, being a mother often can be the beginning of many problems for women whether physically or mentally. Thankfully, there are solutions to many of these problems and today, our guest will talk briefly on some of the physical changes she went through having two C sections and how that impacted her recovery. And lastly, we talk about the importance of prioritizing yourself and understanding that your health, no matter the circumstance needs to be a priority in your life right now. To help relate all of these topics, I introduce to you our next guest, Kelsey Rush.

Welcome Back to the Health Me Podcast!!
I had the pleasure of learning and interviewing a great, young chiropractor originally from the Bay Area here in California. More recently, our guest has moved to Florida to continue building his chiropractic empire. Coming from a family of chiropractors and having a natural affinity for helping people, it was almost certain for him to work in the healthcare field.

In addition to our guests' background and experience, we dive into what a chiropractor is and why the profession is well respected. Next, we will get to explore what it’s like to practice as a chiropractor and how the profession has changed. This can certainly help you to determine if your current chiro or soon to be chiropractor will be a good fit for you. Furthermore, our guest works closely with a Physical therapist in his own clinic and with that, we untangle what some of the biggest differences are between a PT and a chiro and how working with both can have a huge benefit in your overall recovery. Overall our guest is very entrepreneurial and walks the walk when it comes to fitness and health in his own life. Without spoiling too much, I introduce to you Doctor of Chiropractic, Sterling Petersen.

From being your own health advocate, doing his own research on MRI contrasts, and working basically full time to call his insurance company and manage all of his medical bills, he is meticulous to say the least. Another great podcast coming your way today for any of you wannabe travel physical therapists or those perhaps curious as to the many avenues physical therapy can bring as a career choice. The episode begins with introduction to two of my favorite travel physical therapists who I had the pleasure of meeting back when I first started travel physical therapy here in the Bay Area. Having graduated from the University of Pittsburgh’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, which is number one in the country, their knowledge and experience in the field of physical therapy stands alone to other top end PT’s. As we get to know more about these two, we will dive into some of the obstacles travel physical therapists face while navigating job offers, travel blunders, crazy interview stories, and advantages travel can bring to someone straight out of school. In addition, we discuss what it’s like working with COVID patients post infection and how the pandemic has affected each of our own careers. Furthermore, we will go deeper into what it takes to be a travel physical therapist and how navigating this career choice can make you into a better and more complete therapist. Without spoiling anything else, thanks for listening and enjoy! I introduce to you Alli and Anthony!

Today’s Podcast is a good one! I had the pleasure of interviewing a previous client and current friend of mine who has a story you don't wanna miss! What started off as a typical case of low back pain led to a series of truly unfortunate events of doctors visits and head scratching. Her story encompasses many aspects of how the medical system can sometimes ‘miss’ things and what it truly means to be your own advocate when it comes to your health. Through perseverance, optimism, and vanquish, her story will truly inspire and surprise you as to the pitfalls that may come with the diagnosis of Stage 2 Ovarian Cancer. From not being able to walk after surgery, changing doctors, maintaining an optimistic mindset towards life, and being a great role model for your kids and everyone around her, this episode has it all! Without spoiling anything else, I present to you, teacher, mother, and friend, Teri Shober.

Today, we are talking about all things COVID! But before we get started, don't forget clips of the interview and the full Voom podcast will be over on my Youtube channel at the Health Me Podcast. In addition, the date of this podcast was January 24th. SO if you’re listening and information has changed in regards to variants and so forth, that would be the reason. Nonetheless, today on the podcast, we get down to basic’s! what exactly makes a vaccine, why we are seeing so many mutations, and perhaps mitigate some of the scary questions you may have about the current vaccine and world we live in! To help us navigate all this information we talk to someone on the ground floor about genetics and how our biology affects us in the face of various pathogens. Our second guest on the health me podcast is a Ph.d candidate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston where he works in the infectious disease department at Boston children's hospital studying genetics and microbiology. He has various accolades and experience working with how disease processes work including the way virus’ act, spread, and wreak havoc in your body. Without further adieu, I introduce to you childhood friend and respected researcher, Daniel Bollen.

Our first guest on the podcast is a previous patient and is now a current client and friend of mine. He was an original Bostonian who moved to Silicon Valley to work for a startup. Throughout the podcast, you will hear the story of how someone's exercise routine can change over a lifetime through conflicts and injuries. In addition, understand that injuries aren’t the end of an exercise journey, as well as the importance of expectations between patient and practitioners. At the end, we provide a glimmer of hope and motivation to those who understand the importance of exercise, however, have yet to take the steps to incorporate it into their life. I would like to introduce to you, Vahe Katros!
